Trial trenches were excavated on the site. River bank deposits dating from the medieval period to the 17th century were identified. Trial trenches were excavated on the site. Undated pits ditches and layers were identified, which were probably from post-medieval agricultural activity. A fieldwalking and earthwork survey was carried out on the site of the proposed wind farm. The earliest phase identified related to Iron Age and Roman salt production, with briquetage been recovered from three areas of the site. Medieval and post-medieval occupation deposits were recovered from the former sites of two hamlets. The earthwork survey identified a medieval building platform and two 15th century building platforms. [Au(abr)]

A surface collection survey was carried out on the proposed road route. Finds from the Mesolithic to modern periods were recovered and a number of possible sites identified. A possible Roman villa on the route was further established with the recovery of Roman artefacts from the 2nd to 4th century. Evidence of the medieval grange and wharf in the same field was also recovered. Possible Neolithic/Bronze Age and Romano British activity was also identified on the route. Several areas could not be surveyed due to the land being used as pasture. [Au(abr)]

Trial trenches were excavated on the site and identified five phases of occupation. The earliest phase was represented by a V shaped Roman ditch. The ditch dated to the 2nd century and was style associated with Roman forts, suggesting the eastern site may contain a previously unknown fort. Some 3rd to 4th century cremations and inhumations were identified along with domestic occupation features comprising of ditches pits and post holes. Early medieval pottery was recovered and refuse pits were encountered. The remains of medieval structures, dump deposits and refuse pits were recorded. Post- medieval clay lined pits and stone lined pits were also identified. [Au(abr)]

Trial trenches were excavated on the proposed development site. A buried land surface was identified, containing Late Mesolithic/Early Neolithic worked flint. A Late Bronze Age spearhead was recovered from the peat inundation that sealed the surface. A track was built in the medieval period over the peat, using limestone rubble. Medieval finds were also recovered from a medieval ploughsoil. [Au(abr)]

Trial trenches were excavated on the proposed development site. Six boundary features dating from the 11th to the 18th centuries were identified. A large pit containing fired clay and bricks was identified. The debris represents the remains of structures involved in salt production between the 11th and 13th century. Sloping layers of silt possibly from salt production pr part of a palaeochannel was also identified. [Au(abr)]

Over the buried soil dump deposits of medieval date were identified, containing evidence of a heating process and crop processing. An undated pit was filled with a similar deposit. Trial trenches were excavated on the proposed development site. The natural deposits identified were predominantly associated with salt marsh formation. A clay filled feature was revealed and was interpreted as a ancient mere. A roddon was also encountered, with a discrete group of medieval curvilinear features. A series of boundary ditches were also identified, part of a dylings used to secure areas for grazing during the medieval period. Medieval and post-medieval finds were recovered. [Au(abr)]

The pits contained Early-Middle Saxon pottery and animal bone possible from processing of carcasses for meat, leather and horn. Two of the shallow pits were possible remnants of Grubenhauser.
