It is part parody, part romance, part general drama, and completely A/U. I have followed canon very loosely, drawing some inspiration from the films as well as the books. I have completely ignored the ending of HBP. For the purposes of this story, I needed Dumbledore alive, and so alive he is – at least here! The events of the books are meant to serve only as a framework on which to hang my plot. Events that, in the books, may have taken place over several days or even weeks are compressed into one day, or completely ignored. This is deliberate and I intend no disrespect to the story that JKR is telling. Almost all encounters between Hermione Granger and Severus Snape are the product of my own imagination. I wrote this story in response to a challenge posed on the WIKTT forum by Ladyofthemasque. The Challenge goes like this: Lost in a Book Challenge Offered by Ladyofthemasque Based upon the story “Lost in a (Not So) Good Book” by Bubblebunny (http://ashwinder.sycophanthex.com/viewstory.php?sid=12466) Here’s the Lost in A Book Challenge: 1. Hermione Granger and Severus Snape encounter a wizarding romance novel 2. They get sucked literally into the storyline, taking on the roles of the hero and heroine 3. -

At the age of 6, when I was in the first grade, the grade where Americans generally learn to read, I absolutely hated it. My teacher, Mrs. Johnson, would call on students to stand up and read passages to the class. I would stare in awe as other kids would read their sentences flawlessly, even as butterflies rattled in my stomach, as I waited in dread for her to call on either myself or my twin sister. -
"All Because of Hermione Granger" "Angst - Destruction"
"All Because of Hermione Granger" "Angst - Destruction" Life was absolute shit, Harry decided. He’d lost the last link to his parents, his godfather, and Remus had treated him like he’d just dropped out of Moony’s butt during a full moon. The last day of term. Tomorrow, Harry would be setting off to the Dursleys, for another summer of chaos and misery. It had been exactly eight days since the damned fight at the Ministry of Magic. Eight days since Sirius had been knocked through the Veil of Death in the Department of Mysteries by his own cousin. Eight days since Dumbledore had told him that the fate of the world, literally, rested on his shoulders. His friends had been a little distant, probably on Dumbledore’s orders. Let him rest. Let him grieve in peace. It is what he needs right now. He could almost picture the meeting. Brave Ron, nodding in agreement because it was Dumbledore who told them. Beautiful Hermione, wanting the best for Harry. If Dumbledore, the greatest wizard in the world, didn’t know what was best for Harry, at least in her eyes, who would? Since then, he’d been moping around the castle. He’d turned up for lessons, let them go over his head so high they hadn’t even ruffled his hair. It didn’t matter. None of it really mattered. Hermione. She was part of the reason he was in such pain. When Dolohov’s curse had hit her, Harry’s brain locked. A single thought ran through it, Don’t be dead! Don’t be dead! When Neville had checked her, and found a pulse, Harry could have cried. -
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
FADE IN EXT. - LITTLE WHINGING - NIGHT It is sunset. We drift through the clouds, approaching NUMBER FOUR, PRIVET DRIVE. We sail over the roof of NUMBER FOUR and continue on past it into the street. We drift down into an abandoned playground. A lone figure sits on the only unbroken swing.. It is HARRY POTTER. He appears deep in thought. Had he been watching more carefully, he would have seen the old MRS. FIGG watching him from her front porch. MRS. FIGG adjusts her porch chair in order to watch Harry better. The sound of harsh laughter reaches Harry's ears. He looks up. Dudley and his gang of followers are walking down the street, telling crude jokes and laughing. They ignore Harry and continue on out of sight. Harry gets to his feet and follows them. EXT. STREET - NIGHT Harry rounds the corner, only to find himself surrounded by Dudley's gang. DUDLEY Oh, it's you. GANG THUG #1 What should we do with him, Big D? Harry laughs. HARRY Big D? Cool name, but to me, you'll always be Ikkle Duddicums. DUDLEY Shut up! One of Dudley's gang steps in as if to punch Harry. Harry glares at him. The gang member pauses, then steps back again. DUDLEY Ooo, tough guy. Not so tough in your bed, are you? 2. HARRY What? MRS. FIGG stands up and goes to the edge of her porch. MRS. FIGG You boys go home now, or I'll be calling your parents! They pause and edge away from Harry. -

WANDS AWAY (OR PREACHING TO INFIDELS WHO WEAR EARPLUGSo) By LAURA SPITZ "There now", said Professor Umbridge sweetly, " Wands away and quills out, please". Many of the class exchanged gloomy looks; the order "wands away" had never yet been followed by a lesson they had found interesting.' STUDENTS IN Professor Umbridge's Defense Against the Dark Arts class at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry want to do magic, not read about doing magic. As Harry Potter readers, we are meant to understand doing and reading as two distinct and maybe even unconnected activities. More importantly, we are meant to be sympathetic with the students' disappointment. Doing magic sounds both more fun and more useful than reading about magic, particularly as the class is made up of almost-adult fifth-years and threats of the Dark Lord loom large. -

2Nd- Into 3Rd- Grade Summer Reading List
nd rd 2 - into 3 - Grade Summer Reading List *============================* Liz Perry, Librarian for Stacey Hubbard, 2020 Listed below are books to read to your children and books for your children—if they are ready—to read on their own. A fine guide to reading comfort is a thoughtful evaluation of your child’s response to what sits in his or her lap: Is he or she mastering most of the words on the page? If there is frustration, consider an easier read. For your own read-aloud interest—and to connect with stories you might have encountered long ago—books below are separated into categories contemporary and classic. While books published more than 50 years ago may have old-fashioned views, they represent takes on cultural views and rituals of family life that become more varied (politically correct) in later works of fiction. It is worth noting that an “adventure” a hundred years ago could dwell in the simplest of activities: finding stray buttons while dusting or following a butterfly across a meadow. What is worthy of the term “adventure” in juvenile literature today? Parent read-alouds are still rewarding social exchanges even with proficient readers, and conversation around stories can give revealing glimpses into how your child experiences and interprets the world. I Can-Read/Ready-to-Read Series While there are many worthy reads in this genre featuring books children will want (and perhaps need) to read multiple times, choices below tend toward more traditional illustration and a gentler narrative voice. As you make your selections, try to avoid cartoon-like formats that sometimes over-simplify the beauty of nature or caricature the human form. -

A Critical Examination of Teachers in Harry Potter by Einar Christopher
The Magic of Hogwarts: A Critical Examination of Teachers in Harry Potter by Einar Christopher Wong B.A., Simon Fraser University, 2008. A THESIS SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FUFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF MASTER OF ARTS in THE FACTULY OF GRADUATE AND POSTDOCTORAL STUDIES (Children’s Literature) THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA (Vancouver) April 2014 © Einar Christopher Wong 2014 ii Abstract While there have been many young-adult and children’s novels and stories published that deal with school and teachers, there have been comparatively few studies done that analyze the messages these novels contain about formal classroom education, specifically about teacher characters. As well, the subject of school has been a relatively consistent theme for Hollywood movies and media geared towards teenagers and children, but, like their novel counterparts, analysis has been relatively light. J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series places itself in a very unique position in popular culture as the highest-selling book series and highest-grossing film series of all time; a series that mainly focuses on an education system, albeit for wizards and witches rather than muggles. Nonetheless, this thesis proposes to examine the professors at Hogwarts and to show whether or not Rowling has created a series of complex teacher characters; characters that are usually not a source of complexity in young adult or children’s literature. Additionally, this thesis will also examine how these characters have been adapted from the page to the screen and whether or not the movie versions of these teacher characters have retained any complexity found in Rowling’s novels. -
