One such fascinating journey is that of Robert Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company from 2005 to February 2020. “The ride of a lifetime” is a fascinating reflection on his innovative way of thinking and relentless journey towards excellence. “I talk a lot about “the relentless pursuit of perfection”. In practice this can mean a lot of things, and it is hard to define. It is a mindset, more than a specific set of rules. It is not about perfectionism at all costs. It is about creating an environment in which people refuse to accept mediocrity. Hopefully, by the time you read this, things will have eased slightly. Volunteers have done a brilliant job in providing help with shopping and supplies, and there has been wonderful community support, kindness, generosity, caring and thoughtfulness – so let’s give everybody a huge “clap” of appreciation! Thursday evenings have also seen some fine pan-banging, bell-ringing and horn-blowing in support of NHS, care and key workers.
