Overall, the Summer 2015/16 season was one of im- provement in comparison to the Summer of 2014/15 in many ways.

There was an increase in the number of active referees from 39 in the Summer season of 2014/15 to 58 in the 2015/16 Summer season, with a turnover of 7.

This has helped to service not only the Junior Sydney Metropolitan Competition, but all other graded com- petitions and State Championships The 2015/16 season was productive for referees on both a state and national and international level. For the total of Summer 2015/16 including all 14 rounds for all senior and junior grades, that is a total of 861 games to cover.

The Boys Blues had some really great wins, especially the game with Tauranga A who won the competition 2 years ago. This gave the boys confidence with each other and as a team. In each game they worked hard and they improved a lot throughout the competition.

Outside the pool everyone went to dinner or lunch and watched different games together. You could see the great camaraderie within the team and they showed respect with the manager, myself and each other.

Unfortunately we lost the game to pass to the semi- final, but the boys tried very hard to win but it was against them on this particular day. After this game the boys worked hard for 5th position which we got.

I am really happy with the team’s performance as we didn’t have many training sessions before the compe- tition and our first game was with a very strong team. Overall I believe the boys learned a lot and understand a little more on how to perform in competition and improved on reading the game.

I did send an email to each individual on their perfor- mance throughout the competition and skills that they need to improve on which was well received.

I would like to thank the fathers and the manager El in which she did an amazing job in coordinating every- one.

The trip was a fantastic experience for everyone in- volved from players to coach and manager. The boys amalgamated very quickly and built strong camarade- rie in a short period of time. The boys stayed in dorms and it seemed like they thoroughly enjoyed it. Myself and Alex also stayed in the dorms which was fine for us but in the future I feel the coach and manager should have a little bit more privacy from a living quar- ters perspective.

The team played excellently and improved drastically throughout the tournament. Considering every player was the year below and was playing some seriously large players and teams, they showed great persever- ance and maturity beyond their years. Each player in their own way stepped up for me and did their allocat- ed role to the fullest. They played for each other which was great to see.

The best result came against the champions of the tournament Canberra 1 which was a 9 to 5 loss. The score line doesn't represent how competitive the game really was. A stacked Canberra team (4 quality Ameri- can imports included) wrote us off from the beginning and showed a cocky temperament. The boys had them on the ropes at points in the game and the score was even halfway through the last quarter.

NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

NOTE 1: STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES

The financial statements are special purpose financial statements prepared in order to satisfy the financial reporting requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 of NSW and in accordance with Class Order 11/01, Australian Accounting Standards AASB 1048 and 108 are applicable.

The committee has determined that the Association is not a reporting entity.

The financial statements have been prepared on an accruals basis and is based on historic costs and does not take into account changing money values, or except where stated specifically, current valuations of noncurrent assets.

The following significant accounting policies, which are consistent with the previous period unless stated otherwise, have been adopted in the preparation of the financial statements.

Accounting Policies

(a) Income Tax Expense

No provision has been made for income tax as the Association is exempt in accordance with the terms of Section 5045 of the Income Tax Assessment Act, 1997.

(b) Property, Plant and Equipment (PPE)

Furniture and fittings, plant and equipment, and intangible assets are carried at cost less, where applicable, any accumulated depreciation.

The depreciable amount of all fixed assets are depreciated over the useful lives of the assets to the Association commencing from the time the asset is held ready for use.

(c) Impairment of Assets

At the end of each reporting period, the committee reviews the carrying amounts of its tangible and intangible assets to determine whether there is any indication that those assets have been impaired. If such an indication exists, an impairment test is carried out on the asset by comparing the recoverable amount of the asset, being the higher of the asset's fair value less costs to sell and value in use, to the asset's carrying amount. Any excess of the asset's carrying amount over its recoverable amount is recognised in the income and expenditure statement.

(d) Employee Provisions

Provision is made for the association's liability for employee benefits arising from services rendered by employees to the end of the reporting period. Employee provisions have been measured at the amounts expected to be paid when the liability is settled, plus related oncosts.

(e) Cash on Hand

Cash on hand includes cash on hand, deposits held at call with banks, other shortterm highly liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less.

NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

NOTE 1: STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES (CONTINUED)

(f) Accounts Receivable and Other Debtors

Accounts receivable and other debtors include amounts due from members as well as amounts receivable from donors. Receivables expected to be collected within 12 months of the end of the reporting period are classified as current assets. All other receivables are classified as noncurrent assets.

(g) Revenue and Other Income

Revenue is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable after taking into account any trade discounts and volume rebates allowed. For this purpose, deferred consideration is not discounted to present values when recognising revenue.

Interest revenue is recognised using the effective interest rate method, which for floating rate financial assets is the rate inherent in the instrument. Dividend revenue is recognised when the right to receive a dividend has been established.

Grant and donation income is recognised when the entity obtains control over the funds, which is generally at the time of receipt.

If conditions are attached to the grant that must be satisfied before the association is eligible to receive the contribution, recognition of the grant as revenue will be deferred until those conditions are satisfied.

All revenue is stated net of the amount of goods and services tax.

Income in Advance and Prepaid Expenses

Monies received prior to year end which are referable to events and competitions held in the next financial year are recorded as Income in Advance and are included in the Statement of Financial Position.

Expenses paid in the current financial year but relating to periods beyond the current financial year are recognised as prepaid expenses are included in the Statement of Financial Position.

(h) Goods and Services Tax (GST)

Revenues, expenses and assets are recognised net of the amount of GST, except where the amount of GST incurred is not recoverable from the Australian Tax Office (ATO). Receivables and payables are stated inclusive of the amount of GST receivable or payable. The net amount of GST recoverable from, or payable to, the ATO is included with other receivables or payables in the assets and liabilities statement.

NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 JUNE 2016

(i) Trade and Other Payables

Accounts payable and other payables represent the liability outstanding at the end of the reporting period for goods and services received by the association during the reporting period which remain unpaid. The balance is recognised as a current liability with the amounts normally paid within 30 days of recognition of the liability.

(j) Comparative Figures

Comparative figures have been adjusted to conform to changes in presentation for the current financial year where required by accounting standards or as a result of changes in accounting policy.

It should be noted that although the net movement in the comparatives are the same for the year, the balances may be different for each account code.
