Mosoca Agrigel-La Creuse-Fenioux Agrigel only existed for one season riding the 1996 Tour de France Eurocar ITAS Gilles Mas and several of the riders including Jacky Durant went to Casino Chazal Raider Mosoca Ag2r-La Mondiale Eurocar Chazal-Vetta-MBK Petit Casino Casino-AG2R Ag2r Vincent Lavenu created the Chazal team. -

INTRODUCTION TO THE TEAMS AND RIDERS TO WATCH FOR GarminGarmin----TransitionsTransitions Ryder Hesjedal, 7th overall in the Tour de France, and the first Canadian Top 10 finisher in the Grande Boucle since Steve Bauer in 1988, will be looking to shine in front of the home crowd. EuskaltelEuskaltel----EuskadiEuskadi This team is made up almost entirely of cyclists from the Basque Country. Samuel Sánchez, Gold Medalist at the Beijing Olympics, narrowly missed the podium in this year’s Tour de France. Rabobank The orange-garbed team brings a 100% Dutch line-up to Québec and Montréal, led by Robert Gesink, a 24-year-old full of promise who finished 6th overall in the 2010 Tour de France, and solid lieutenants like Joost PosthumaPosthuma and Bram Tankink. Team RadioShack Lance Armstrong’s team fields a strong entry, featuring the backbone of the squad that competed in the Tour de France, including Levi Leipheimer (USA), 3rd overall in the 2007 Tour and Bronze Medalist in the Individual Time Trial in Beijing, Janez Brajkovic (Slovenia), winner of the 2010 Critérium du Dauphiné, and Sergio Paulinho (Portugal), who won a stage in this year’s Tour de France and was a Silver Medalist in Athens in 2004 and Yaroslav Popovych (Ukraine), former top 3 on the Tour of Italy. LiquigasLiquigas----DoimoDoimo This Italian squad will be counting on Ivan Basso, who won this year’s Giro d’Italia but faded in the Tour de France, but also on this past spring’s sensation, 20-year-old Peter Sagan of Slovakia, who won two stages of the Paris-Nice race, two in the Tour of California and one in the Tour de Romandie. -

21ST — 27TH FEBRUARY 2021 HOPE PROBE 4 STAGE WED, FEBRUARY 24TH 2021 TOP SPONSORS OFFICIAL CAR theuaetour.com 24th February 2021 THE STAGE REPORT Stage 4 – Hope Probe Stage – km 204 START: Al Marjan Island – 130 riders are underway as the flag is dropped at 11:48. Jumbo-Visma’s Van Emden does not start. After an intense stage yesterday, the peloton rolls along together at a steady pace. Fifteen, 20, and 35 kilometres into the race, the riders seem to be holding off their attacks. After one hour of racing, the average speed is 37.500 km/h. Groupama riders are in prominent position at the front of the bunch, but the pace is steady. The situation remains unchanged 40 and 45 km into the race: the peloton is still all together. Intermediate Sprint (Umm-al-Quwain – km 51.3) Dekker claims the first intermediate sprint ahead of Milan, Cattaneo and Gallopin. The peloton returns to a steady pace immediately afterwards. Seventy kilometres into the race, the peloton is still packed, although the speed has picked up a little. Average speed after two hours of racing: 39.400 km/h. Ineos, Deceuninck, Bora and UAE rotate at the front, but the peloton is not splitting. At the -100 km marker, all is calm. We are starting to see some action, as Bidard and Le Gac clip off at km 117, immediately opening up an advantage. At the first time recording, they are 25” ahead of the bunch; at km 119, the gap rises to 45”, and is further up to 1’05” at km 122. -

Trek-Segafredo’s Tiberi does not start. Gallopin and De Gendt make a move off the front from the outset. Three kilometres into the race, they are 18” up the road. The peloton grants them some leeway, and the gap increases quickly. At km 8, the breakers’ lead is 1’40”, rising to 3’50” at km 18. UAE Team Emirates move to the front of the bunch, setting a gentle pace. At km 25 of racing, the gap is up to 4’50”. Intermediate Sprint (Al Qattara – km 28.6) Gallopin claims the IS effortlessly ahead of De Gendt. Gaviria and Mørkøv come in third and fourth, respectively, 4’40” behind. At km 30 of racing, the leading duo are 4'30" ahead of the bunch; 35 kilometres into the race, the gap is further up to 5’35”. Average speed after one hour of racing: 42.800 km/h. Out in front, the breakaway riders continue to increase their lead, which reaches 5’55” after 45 km of racing. At km 60, the peloton is some 6’30” down on the escapees. Bahrain, BikeExchange, Bora-Hansgrohe and Ineos Grenadiers riders move to the front of the bunch, stepping up the pace despite riding in the headwind: at km 70, the gap is down to 5'28".
