Masutha matriculated at the age of 18 from Siloe School for the Blind and his successful application to study at UL was influenced by Adv. He was a perfect role model to inspire people like me to pursue studies at institutions of higher learning," he expounded.

Masutha, during the turbulent years of the 1980s, has managed to juggle around social and political activism with his studies. "During that tenure we (students) spent a significant part of our lives engaging in protests against the apartheid state.
