Zároveň zde bylo vybíráno mýto a clo. Po ničivém požáru zde byl v polovině ��. století z příkazu českého krále Přemysla Otakara II. vy- stavěn gotický hrad s důmyslným fortifi kačním systémem. Nepříznivé politické podmínky dohnaly Přemysla Otakara II. roku ���� k památné bitvě na Moravském poli u Suchých Krut (dnes v Rakousku), při které přišel o život. Po této události se hrad stal místem svatby královny vdovy Kunhuty, která zde pobývala v letech ����-��, s představitelem jihočeského šlechtického rodu Závišem z Falkenštejna. V průběhu dalších století se na Hradci měnili majitelé a zástavní držitelé - potomci vedlejší přemyslovské větve Přemek I. Opavský, Mikuláš II. a další, český král Jiří z Poděbrad a jeho syn Viktorin, král Matyáš Korvín a český král Vladislav II. Jagelon- ský, za jehož vlády získala osada ležící u hradu v roce ���� městská privilegia. V roce ���� koupil hrad do dědičného vlastnictví Kašpar Pruskovský z Pruskova. Jeho potomci přistoupili na přelomu ��. a ��. století k přestavbě hradu na pohodlný renesanční zámek, který se rozšířil o reprezenta- tivní obytné prostory, provozní a hospodářský dvůr. Další generace Pruskovských se postarala o přestavbu zámku do barokní podoby. V první polovině ��. století, kdy se během třicetileté války prohnala Evropou vojska římskokatolických a protestantských států, byly zámek i město Hradec několikrát vydrancovány. V roce ���� zakoupil zámek Wolfgang Konrad z Neff zernu, který v roce ���� odprodal panství knížeti Janu Karlu Lichnovskému z Voštic. Lichnovští z Voštic, původně slezský šlechtický rod, setrvali na zámku až do roku ����, kdy jim byl zámek na základě poválečných zákonů zkonfi skován. Ať tomu napomohla náhoda, když v roce ���� zachvátil zámek devastující požár, nebo již dopředu promy- šlený plán Karla Aloise Lichnovského na nutnou opravu zámku, na přelomu ��. a ��. století se pod dohledem krnovského stavitele Jana Mihatsche započalo s velkorysou přestavbou zámku. Byly strženy středověké hradby a věže, přilehlé zahrady a pozemky byly upraveny a zidealizovány do přírodně krajinářského parku, který plně vyhovoval dobovým snahám o změnu vztahu člověka k přírodě. Bílý zámek získal dnešní empírovou podobu, byl obohacen o divadelní sál a hostinské pokoje ve východním křídle, modernizací prošly provozní místnosti POHLED DO HISTORIE BEETHOVENŮV HRADEC – HUDEBNÍ MEDAILON ZÁMKU HRADEC NAD MORAVICÍ �� LOOK INTO HISTORY BEETHOVEN’S HRADEC – MUSICAL PORTRAIT OF HRADEC NAD MORAVICÍ CASTLE a po dokončení roku ���� sloužil jako konírna, kovárna, stáje a kočárovna. V rámci rekonstrukce přibyly i romantizující hradby a vstupní brána. Drobné stavební úpravy probíhaly převážně v interiérech zámku a za- chovávaly historizující charakter stavby. Lichnovští jako podporovatelé umění hostili na zámku významné hudebníky i literáty: Ludwiga van Beethovena, Niccolò Paganiniho, Ference Liszta, dramatika a prozaika Gerharta Hauptmanna, libretistu Hugo von Hofmannsthala a literárního kritika Karla Krause. V roce ���� byli Lichnovští nuceni zámek opustit a ode- šli do zahraničí (Argentina, Brazílie). O čtyři roky později se zámek otevírá veřejnosti. V ��. letech minulého století se přistoupilo k opravě Červeného zámku, jenž byl během �. světové války po- ničen bombardováním. Později v něm zahájila provoz zámecká restaurace a hotel. K významnému rozmachu kulturního života na zámku přispěla úprava bývalé kočárovny na koncertní sál Velká dvorana a jeho následné zpřístupnění. Generální a časově náročná oprava Bílého zámku trvala od roku ���� do roku ����. Po jejím dokončení dnes Bílý zámek nabízí návštěvníkům dva prohlídkové okruhy, jež krásou svých interiérů a bohatstvím zá- meckého mobiliáře ročně přilákají velké množství návštěvníků z domova i ze zahraničí. S přispěním vrati- slavského architekta Karla Lüdeckeho přibyla vstupní hala, tzv. Hubertova světnice, arkádové chodby na nádvo- ří, rohové věže v severovýchodním rohu prvního nádvoří, sakristie a zámecká kaple. Bylo zrušeno divadlo, došlo k architektonickým úpravám zámeckých interiérů. Se stavbou Červeného zámku, jehož název se odvozuje od zdí z režného cihlového zdiva, se započalo roku ����. Vznikal podle návrhů architekta Alexise Langera a později Ernsta Händela z Výmaru (tvůrce Bílé věže) EN BEETHOVENŮV HRADEC – HUDEBNÍ MEDAILON ZÁMKU HRADEC NAD MORAVICÍ �� BEETHOVEN’S HRADEC – MUSICAL PORTRAIT OF HRADEC NAD MORAVICÍ CASTLE hanks to its architectural appeal and surrounding English park, Hradec nad Moravicí Castle is one of the most romantic places in the Czech Republic. Th e castle premises tower at the top of a steep hill over the confl uence of Moravice River and Hradečná Stream and consists of the White Castle built in Empire style, Neo-gothic Red Castle and the White Tower, which stands at the entrance to look into theT vast castle park. Archaeological research showed that the place with a fairy-tale atmosphere and unique genius loci was populated as early as in the �rd millenium BC. Th e permanent settlement of the Slavic dates back to the �th history century. Th e strategic location was used by Přemyslid family in the mid-��th century to build a defensive aristocratic hillfort, fi rstly mentioned in written text in ����, whose role was to protect the merchant road from Moravia to Poland. It was also a collection point for the toll and duty. After a damaging fi re in the mid- ��th century King Ottokar II of Bohemia ordered to build a Gothic castle with ingenious fortifi cation system here. Unfavorable political conditions led King Ottokar II of Bohemia in ���� to the memorable Battle of the Marchfeld near Suche Kruty (now in Austria) where he was killed. After this event the castle witnessed the wedding between Queen-widow Kunigunda of Slavonia, who lived here from ���� to ����, and a member of Southbohemian aristocratic family – Záviš of Falkenstein. The compilation of the three-part book of the Kingdom of Hungary’s customary law was commenced in 1504 by István Werbőczy, who was later elevated from lord chief justice to palatine, and was completed in 1514. The stamps show the cover page of the translation of the Tripartitum, published in Debrecen in 1565. The stamp was designed by the graphic artist György Kara and produced by the ANY Security Printing Company. The new issue will be available at large post offices and Filaposta in Hungary from 4 July, but may also be purchased from Magyar Posta’s online store. In the 15th century feudal fragmentation and attempts to centralise appeared in the field of the law-making. The sources of the law used in charters were unclear and different legal rules were applied in different cities. Following German, Czech and Polish precedents, the need for a unified code of laws became apparent in Hungary as well. Lord Chief Justice István Werbőczy was appointed to complete this task by Vladislaus II of Hungary. The diet of 1514 approved the Tripartitum, which also received the king’s assent, but the magnates on the royal council did not want the lesser nobility to be involved in government and for this reason obstructed its promulgation and introduction.

    Digital Editing of Medieval Manuscripts - Intellectual Output 1: Resources for Editing Medieval Texts (Paleography, Codicology, Philology) The history of books and libraries in Bohemia Michal Dragoun (Charles Univeristy in Prague) While books were initially rare in medieval Bohemia, they would come to play an important role in the lives of all social classes by the end of the Middle Ages. The pace of that advancement was not, however, constant. Many factors contributed to spread of books and to their use, some of them pushed the advancement forward significantly, others less significantly. Books were initially a monopoly of the Church and its institutions but gradually, the circle of book users extended to the laity and more and more texts came to be written in vernacular languages. Acknowledging the abundance or research into medieval books and libraries more generally, this overview will comment only on the most significant moments in the book culture of medieval Bohemia. There are two fundamental turning points in the history of Medieval Bohemian book culture – these were the establishment of a university in Prague, and the Hussite Reformation. To provide a brief overview of types of libraries, it is necessary to categorize them and study the development of individual categories. In any case, the Hussite period was the real turning point for a number of them. Sources The sheer abundance of sources provides the basis for a comprehensive overview of Bohemian book culture. The manuscripts themselves are the most significant source. However, the catalogues used to study Bohemian collections tend to be very old. As a result, the records are often incomplete and contextual information is often unavailable.

Transylvania was part of the mediaeval Kingdom of Hungary beginning from the founding of this kingdom and until the year 1540, when, due to historic circumstances, it became for a time a separate entity . The development of private law in this historical space was therefore in the beginning in large part convergent with that of Hungary . However, having a multi-ethnic population consisting of Hungarians, Szeklers, Saxons, and Romanians, with the first three nationalities benefitting from different, autonomous forms of administrative organization, a lot is to be said of specific Transylvanian private law. This study presents those elements and sources of private law which characterized legal relationships in Transylvania beginning with the founding of the Kingdom of Hungary and until the separation of this region from Hungary due to Ottoman conquest . We examine the major sources of law, consisting of customary law, statutory law, and acts of royal power . We then present in summarized form the main characteristics and provisions of the law applicable to persons, the family, immovable and movable property but also inheritance. Some specific private law regulations applicable to Szeklers and Saxons are also presented as well as the perspective of Romanian legal literature regarding the private law applicable to Romanians . It attempts to first contextualize the Croatian national movement within the context of the Habsburg Monarchy, and especially in regards to the relationship of Croatia and Hungary. Secondly, the thesis attempts to explore the possible continuity between the ideology of the Croatian National Revival and the Enlightenment. This is done using some of the fundamental documents of the national movement. Looking at the political program of the national movement, I attempt to identify the influences of the Enlightenment in both explicit and implicit level. Furthermore, as this thesis is on a fundamental level concerned with nationalism, I will explore the interaction between the political programs of the national movement and historical narratives as both are often found in the same text.

The research undertaken by the Author concentrates on Polish descendants of Regina, the elder of two daughters of King Sigismund I the Old and his long time mistress – Katarzyna Telniczanka. Until now, it was assumed that the last descendants of the king were his great-grandsons – Władysław Strasz of Białaczów and his sister Krystyna who lived in the first half of the 17th century. Thanks to the documents found by the Author, it was possible to establish that the mother of the above-mentioned Władysław and Krystyna – Urszula Strasz née Kreza, had a sister – Zofia, who married Baltazar Lutomirski. From her daughter, Zofia née Lutomirska 1st married Stanisław Trembiński (Trębiński), 2nd married Franciszek Szamowski, come all descendants of Sigismund I the Old and Katarzyna Telniczanka, both historical and living ones. The article presents a list of all the king’s descendants from the beginning of the 16th to the turn of the 18th and 19th century. In total, it was a number of 114 people (58 men and 56 women). It is worth noting that until the end of the first quarter of the 17th century, the descendants of Sigismund I and KatarzynaPNH Telniczanka were Calvinists. They were almost exclusively representatives of wealthy and middle-class nobles.

A contribution to the genealogy of the Kurzbach and the Helfenstein families in the 15th century he protagonist of the article is countess Doro thea von Helfen- Tstein, wife of Sigismund von Kurzbach, first baron of Żmi- gród and Milicz. It is an almost unknown person, the origin of whom historians have been unable to find out about until now. However, it seems to be equally interesting that as little is also known about her husband’s family. Thus, before we explain the origin of countess Dorothea herself, a few words would be devoted to her more famous spouse. In historical literature there is no information about Sigismund’s parents and his youth. ItPNH is only known that he was a trusted courtier and adviser to the King of Bohemia (since 1471), Vladi- slaus II of Hungary. He made a staggering career at the Prague court. The events that took place between 1489–1492 turned out to be most significant in Sigismund’s life. Konrad X the White, last Duke of Oleśnica (Olsen) from the Piast dynasty, fell into an open conflict with Matthias Corvinus, the king of Hungary and the rul- er of Moravia, Lusatia and Silesia. In the summer of 1489, the Hungarian army took control of the duchy, removed Konrad from Oleśnica, and forced estates to pay tribute to Matthias.
