Altoona starter Steven Brault allowed six 2015 E.L. WESTERN STANDINGS earned runs on nine hits over 4.2 innings. Austin Meadows and Jacob Stallings each had three hits. In 9/10 BOW @ ALT 7-0 1-1 his last start, he worked six innings and allowed one earned run in a win at Binghamton on 9/6. Last he faced the Bay- 9/11 ALT @ BOW 3-11 2-1, BOW sox, he picked up a win at Bowie allowing two earned runs over six innings on 9/1. Creasy went 7-0 with a 2.69 ERA 9/12 ALT @ BOW 6:05 p.m. -- in his first ten starts this season up through June 5. EASTERN STANDINGS FOR BOWIE: Right-hander David Hess made two Double-A starts for the Baysox, going 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA. In his Team W-L PCT GB Today Double-A debut on Sept. 1, he allowed four earned runs in 3.1 innings against the Curve in Bowie. In his last start, Reading 80-61 .567 -- @ BIN he picked up his first Double-A win, working 6.1 innings and allowing one earned run with eight strikeouts at Erie on Binghamton 77-64 .546 3.0 v. REA Sept. 6. Prior to his promotion to Bowie, Hess went 9-4 with a 3.58 ERA for the A-Adv. Frederick Keys in 26 games Trenton 71-71 .500 9.5 -- (25 starts). Over his last 12 starts for Frederick, he went 7-0 with a 1.34 ERA after beginning the year 2-4 with a 5.83 New Britain 69-71 .493 10.5 -- ERA in his first 14 games. In August, Hess went 4-0 with a 0.99 ERA. He was picked in the fifth round of the 2014 New Hamp. 69-71 .483 10.5 -- MLB Draft out of Tennessee Tech. Portland 53-89 .373 27.5 -- PLAYOFF HISTORY: The Curve make their sixth Eastern League postseason appearance in 2015. Altoona first quali- E.L. EAST DIVISION SERIES fied for the playoffs in 2003 as a wild card team and lost in the Division Series to Akron in four games. The Curve won Time/Result Series the division for the first time in 2004 and swept Erie in the Division Series, but New Hampshire swept the Champion- 9/9 REA @ BIN 9-4 1-0, REA ship Series in three games. The Curve returned as a wild card team again in 2004 and 2005, but lost a decisive fifth 9/11 REA @ BIN 3-0 2-0, REA game in the Division series to Akron in back-to-back years. In 2010, Altoona won its second regular-season division 9/12 BIN @ REA 7:05 p.m. -- title and beat Harrisburg four games to advance to the Championship Series against Trenton. The Thunder won the 9/13 BIN @ REA 6:35 p.m. -- first game in extra innings, but the Curve won the next three to clinch its first-ever Eastern League Championship. 9/14 BIN @ REA 6:35 p.m. -- BLANK CHECK: The Curve pitching staff led the Eastern League lead with a franchise-record 16 shutouts pitched this season, including last Friday’s blanking of the Binghamton Mets.
