WESTERN STANDINGS Division by two games over the Baysox. The title marked the franchise's third regular-season division championship in Team W-L PCT GB franchise history, winning the South Division in 2004 and the Western Division in 2010. This year, the Curve led the Altoona 74-66 .529 -- West for 96 of 140 games and took over sole possession of the top spot for good on August 22. The Curve won 10 of Bowie 72-68 .514 2.0 their final 16 games, including a regular-season-best five-game winning streak from August 20-24. Altoona clinched the Western Division regular-season title with a walk-off win over Harrisburg on September 4 and a loss by Bowie at Akron 69-71 .493 5.0 Richmond that afternoon.     IN MEMORIAM TONY ROBICHAUX 1961-2019 Tony Robichaux spent 25 seasons as the leader of the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and took the baseball program to new heights. Robichaux coached 29 All-Americans, five Academic All-Americans, 90 All-Sun Belt players and 55 All-Louisiana players in his 25 years with the Cajuns. During that time, he coached six Sun Belt Pitchers of the Year, two Sun Belt Players of the Year, two Sun Belt Newcomers of the Year, three Sun Belt Freshmen of the Year, three All-Louisiana Pitchers of the Year, one All-Louisiana Player of the Year and five All-Louisiana Newcomers of the Year. Robichaux took Louisiana to its only College World Series appearance in 2000 and won over 1,000 career games. Yet, that’s not how Robichaux will be remembered. He will be remembered and honored as someone who left behind a legacy of servant leadership and compassion that extended beyond the baseball diamond and into the lives of the thousands of student- athletes and staff he impacted during his career.     The Boston Red Sox Sunday, May 30, 2021 * The Boston Globe Nate Eovaldi, bullpen stellar as Red Sox take second straight win over Marlins Peter Abraham Adam Ottavino punched his fist into his glove and let out a yell as he marched off the mound in the seventh inning Saturday. The righthander even flexed on his way to the dugout, the veins popping in his neck as the fans at Fenway Park roared. Ottavino uncharacteristically went the full Hulk Hogan for a few seconds after striking out Miami Marlins cleanup hitter Garrett Cooper to leave the bases loaded. “Kind of an out-of-body experience there. Glad I was able to make the pitch and just kind of blacked out,” Ottavino said after the Red Sox finished off a 3-1 victory. Credit an assist to the crowd of 25,089, the largest at Fenway Park since the final game of the 2019 season. “That was awesome. The crowd brought it today. That’s what’s been missing at those two-strike moments at home,” Ottavino said. “Feels like that puts a lot of pressure on the hitter.” On the day Massachusetts rescinded its pandemic protocols, the ballpark was abuzz despite the cold, wet, and windy weather. “A lot of energy out there, a lot of excitement. I know the guys were really feeding off that,” said bench coach Will Venable, who managed the team with Alex Cora attending his daughter’s high school graduation. “A couple of guys came into the dugout and we’re talking about how electric it was.” They have a team worth supporting.
