Issue 40, Winter 2018/19 Keep an eye out for Santa’s visit to Fauldhouse! This year’s Santa Parade will be held on Tuesday 18 December with this annual event kicking off at 6pm from the Christmas tree on the village green. (Collect tickets from 5pm). The evening’s festivities will include meeting Santa on his sleigh at the village green to go on a torch lit procession around the village led by Santa. On arrival back at Fauldhouse Partnership Centre there will be music by the Salvation Army who are performing with the newly formed Fauldhouse Community Brass Band and Christmas songs by Pop Skool. There will be stalls, a photo booth, smoothie bike, elf crafts and activities. Santa and Mrs Claus will also be there in their grottos to meet the children. A ticket is required to visit Santa in the Partnership Centre. Tickets will be available on the day from 5pm in Fauldhouse Partnership Centre foyer. Please hold on to your tickets as this will allow children to see Santa and parents tickets will be entered into a prize draw. Families with younger children are

Murray, Falla Hill Primary School Murray, advised to pick up their tickets early. Queuing for Santa will be done by child’s ticket number eg 1-25, 25-50, 50-75 and so on. The drawings on the Santa Parade posters and fliers this year are by the winners of a Christmas competition and are by the children of Falla Hill and St John the Baptist Primary Schools. All the lovely entries by all the children will be on display at the Santa Parade. All the children have all done a marvellous job! Locals who know the history of Fauldhouse Amateurs FC will recognise the name of its founder member the late Harry McCulloch. In Appeal for centenary early November, his daughter, Jennifer, donated information two sets of strips to the club bearing her father’s initials. Years after his passing Harry is Fauldhouse United FC was founded in 1919 and still remembered with his love for the club. What will celebrate being 100 years old next year. a legend. page 2 Fauldhouse Together – Issue 40, Winter 2018/19 Colours Classical 2018 In September DJ Jon Mancini returned for a second year to the SSE Hydro in with the 50 piece Scottish Festival Orchestra and choir for a crowd of 4,500. The event was to celebrate iconic The Arches with dance anthems from 1995 - 2015. The line up also included Fauldhouse vocalists Paige Turley and Garry Greig. Looks like it was a great evening! Football Reminiscence Group Over the last year we have been delighted to welcome Youth Foundation to the Eastfield Development Centre to deliver their Football Reminiscence group. The Football Reminiscence group meets monthly and works with individuals affected by dementia. The 90 minute session uses football images, footage and memorabilia from the past to help improve memory and recall. If you know anyone who would be interested in attending these sessions, the group now meets on the last Wednesday of every month (excluding December) from 11.30am-1pm at the Eastfield Development Centre. The session is completely free.

Paracise Total Toning Ged’s Total Toning is a women’s only fitness class which runs at the Eastfield Development Centre every Tuesday evening from 7-8pm. Classes cost £4 per person and no booking is required.

Are you interested in a light, gentle and relaxing exercise class? Paracise could be just the class for you. Paracise is a gentle but effective workout that flows smoothly through movements designed to improve mobility, flexibility and balance. The class is led by Jean Shanks on behalf of Ageing Well and runs every Monday from 10.30-11.15am at the Eastfield Development Centre. There were a variety of organisations including the Fire Service who brought their vehicle, Zoo Ed who brought their animals for children to get up close and personal with and the trishaw also made an appearance. A huge thank you to all the organisations and people who were involved in making the day a success and also to the local community for supporting the event!

Fauldhouse Together – Issue 40, Winter 2018/19 page 7 Fauldhouse and Breich Valley Timebank Timebank – Skills Centre partnership The Skills Centre in Whitburn is one of Timebank’s organisational members and they have been ‘simply amazing’ with the support and help within Fauldhouse community. They joined the Timebank in Spring 2018 after seeing our advert in the Fauldhouse Together newsletter looking for Timebank help to make ‘Fauldhouse Bloom’ and they have not stopped giving since. The Skills Centre Junior Gardening and Rural Skills groups have been working on several projects at once. We hope you’ve all noticed! The village planter on the green has been cleared out and beautiful summer flowers added to brighten up the area, now changed to winter pansies. They have tidied up and planted new plants and flowers at the War Memorial, this was done in time for the Remembrance Sunday Service. They have also been working extremely

The funds come from REG Power who manage the Tormywheel Windfarm Development. We received our first applications for the funds in 2017.
