Akın ÇELĠK ÖZET Yüksek Lisans Tezi GÜNEYSINIR (KONYA) YÖRESĠNDE YETĠġEN MAKROMANTARLARIN BELĠRLENMESĠ Akın ÇELĠK Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Biyoloji Anabilim Dalı DanıĢman: Prof. Dr. Abdullah KAYA Haziran, 2019, 117 sayfa Bu çalışma Güneysınır (Konya) yöresinde yetişen makromantarlar üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. 2017-2019 yılları arasında periyodik olarak bölgede gerçekleştirilen arazi çalışmaları sonucunda 295 makromantar örneği toplanmıştır. Örneklerin ekolojik özellikleri not edilmiş ve örnekler doğal ortamlarında resimlenmiştir. Laboratuvar ortamına getirilen örnekler kurutularak fungaryum materyali haline getirilmiş, gerekli teşhis işlemleri sonucunda 5 sınıf, 10 takım, 36 familya ve 62 cinse ait 89 tür tanımlanmıştır. Belirlenen türlerden 34 tanesi Ascomycota, 55 tanesi ise Basidiomycota bölümüne aittir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Biyoçeşitlilik, Makromantar, Taksonomi, Güneysınır, Konya i ABSTRACT Ms Thesis DETERMINATION OF MACROFUNGI GROWING IN ULUKIġLA (NĠĞDE) REGION Akın ÇELĠK Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Biology Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Abdullah KAYA June, 2019, 117 pages This study was carried out on the macrofungi growing in Güneysınır (Konya) district. 295 macrofungi samples were collected during field trips between 2017-2019. Ecological properties were noted and they were photographed at their natural habitats. The samples are transferred to the lab and they were dried and prepared as fungarium materials. As a result of necessary identification processes, 89 taxa belonging to 5 classsis, 10 orders, 36 families, 62 genera were determined. Thirty four of them belong to Ascomycota and 55 belong to Basidiomycota. Keywords: Biodiversity, Macrofungus, Taxonomy, Güneysınır, Konya ii ÖNSÖZ Biyoçeşitliliğin en önemli bileşenlerinden birini oluşturan mantarlar geleneksel olarak uzun bir süre bitkiler âlemi içinde yer almış ve 1969’dan sonra bitki ve hayvanlardan farklı olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Günümüzde ayrı bir âlem olarak ele alınan bu canlı grubunun insanlarla olan etkileşimi insanoğlunun doğuşu ile başlamıştır. Makromantarların insanların dikkatini çekmesi, yemeklik olarak kullanılmalarından dolayı ve zehirli mantarların sebep olduğu ölümler sonucunda olmuştur. Mantarlar gıda olarak kullanılmalarının yanı sıra tıbbi amaçlı da kullanılmaktadır. Yine çok eski yıllarda insanlar halüsinojenik etki gösteren mantarları dini törenlerinde ve eğlence dünyalarında kullanmışlardır. Bütün dünyada olduğu gibi ülkemizde de makromantar biyoçeşitliliğinin belirlenmesi amacıyla birçok çalışma yürütülmüş, çalışmaların bazıları da halen yürütülmektedir. Halen makromantar çeşitliliği bakımından çalışılmamış birçok bölge vardır ve Türkiye mikotası henüz tamamlanamamıştır. Bu kapsamda, Güneysınır yöresinin makromantarlarının belirlenmesine yönelik gerçekleştirilen bu çalışma, bölge insanının bilgilendirilmesi, makromantar çeşitliliğinin belirlenmesi ve ülkemiz makromikotasına katkı sağlamak amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Current Research in Environmental & Applied Mycology 5(3), 213–247, Doi 10.5943/cream/5/3/6 Abstract This paper includes the results of eco-taxonomic studies of coprophilous mushrooms in Punjab, India. The information is based on the survey to dung localities of the state during the various years from 2007-2011. A total number of 172 collections have been observed, growing as saprobes on dung of various domesticated and wild herbivorous animals in pastures, open areas, zoological parks, and on dung heaps along roadsides or along village ponds, etc. High coprophilous mushrooms’ diversity has been established and a number of rare and sensitive species recorded with the present study. The observed collections belong to 95 species spread over 20 genera and 07 families of the order Agaricales. The present paper discusses the distribution of these mushrooms in Punjab among different seasons, regions, habitats, and growing habits along with their economic utility, habitat management and conservation. This is the first attempt in which various dung localities of the state has been explored systematically to ascertain the diversity, seasonal availability, distribution and ecology of coprophilous mushrooms.

Schumacher1 Key words Abstract Helvella is a widespread, speciose genus of large apothecial ascomycetes (Pezizomycete: Pezizales) that are found in terrestrial biomes of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. This study represents a beginning on molecular phylogeny assessing species limits and applying correct names for Helvella species based on type material and specimens in the Pezizales university herbaria (fungaria) of Copenhagen (C), Harvard (FH) and Oslo (O). We use morphology and phylogenetic systematics evidence from four loci – heat shock protein 90 (hsp), translation elongation factor alpha (tef), RNA polymerase II (rpb2) and the nuclear large subunit ribosomal DNA (LSU) – to assess species boundaries in an expanded sample of Helvella specimens from Europe. We combine the morphological and phylogenetic information from 55 Helvella species from Europe with a small sample of Helvella species from other regions of the world. Little intraspecific variation was detected within the species using these molecular markers; hsp and rpb2 markers provided useful barcodes for species delimitation in this genus, while LSU provided more variable resolution among the pertinent species. We discuss typification issues and identify molecular characteristics for 55 European Helvella species, designate neo- and epitypes for 30 species, and describe seven Helvella species new to science, i.e., H. alpicola, H. alpina, H. carnosa, H. danica, H. nannfeldtii, H. pubescens and H.

    A PRELIMINARY CHECKLIST OF ARIZONA MACROFUNGI Scott T. Bates School of Life Sciences Arizona State University PO Box 874601 Tempe, AZ 85287-4601 ABSTRACT A checklist of 1290 species of nonlichenized ascomycetaceous, basidiomycetaceous, and zygomycetaceous macrofungi is presented for the state of Arizona. The checklist was compiled from records of Arizona fungi in scientific publications or herbarium databases. Additional records were obtained from a physical search of herbarium specimens in the University of Arizona’s Robert L. Gilbertson Mycological Herbarium and of the author’s personal herbarium. This publication represents the first comprehensive checklist of macrofungi for Arizona. In all probability, the checklist is far from complete as new species await discovery and some of the species listed are in need of taxonomic revision. The data presented here serve as a baseline for future studies related to fungal biodiversity in Arizona and can contribute to state or national inventories of biota. INTRODUCTION Arizona is a state noted for the diversity of its biotic communities (Brown 1994). Boreal forests found at high altitudes, the ‘Sky Islands’ prevalent in the southern parts of the state, and ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa P.& C. Lawson) forests that are widespread in Arizona, all provide rich habitats that sustain numerous species of macrofungi. Even xeric biomes, such as desertscrub and semidesert- grasslands, support a unique mycota, which include rare species such as Itajahya galericulata A. Møller (Long & Stouffer 1943b, Fig. 2c). Although checklists for some groups of fungi present in the state have been published previously (e.g., Gilbertson & Budington 1970, Gilbertson et al. 1974, Gilbertson & Bigelow 1998, Fogel & States 2002), this checklist represents the first comprehensive listing of all macrofungi in the kingdom Eumycota (Fungi) that are known from Arizona.

It should be highlighted that 12 taxa have been recorded for the first time in Italy and many species are considered rare or infrequent. Each taxa reported consists of the following items: Latin name, author, habitat, height, and the WGS-84 Global Position System (GPS) coordinates. This work, together with the original Ligurian checklist, represents a contribution to the national checklist. Key words—mycological flora, new reports Introduction Liguria represents a very interesting region from a mycological point of view: macrofungi, directly and not directly correlated to vegetation, are frequent, abundant and quite well distributed among the species. This topic is faced and discussed in Zotti & Orsino (2001). Observations prove an high level of fungal biodiversity (sometimes called “mycodiversity”) since Liguria, though covering only about 2% of the Italian territory, shows more than 36 % of all the species recorded in Italy.

Oxya (central Greece) fir forests, a total of 358 taxa of macromycetes, belonging in 149 genera, have been recorded. Ninety eight taxa constitute new records, and five of them are first reports for the respective genera (Athelopsis, Crustoderma, Lentaria, Protodontia, Urnula). One hundred and one records for habitat/host/substrate are new for Greece, while some of these associations are reported for the first time in literature. Key words — biodiversity, macromycetes, fir, Mediterranean region, mushrooms Introduction The mycobiota of Greece was until recently poorly investigated since very few mycologists were active in the fields of fungal biodiversity, taxonomy and systematic. Until the end of ’90s, less than 1.000 species of macromycetes occurring in Greece had been reported by Greek and foreign researchers. Practically no collaboration existed between the scientific community and the rather few amateurs, who were active in this domain, and thus useful information that could be accumulated remained unexploited. Until then, published data were fragmentary in spatial, temporal and ecological terms. The authors introduced a different concept in their methodology, which was based on a long-term investigation of selected ecosystems and monitoring-inventorying of macrofungi throughout the year and for a period of usually 5-8 years.

Among 32 Chinese records, including 26 in Termitomyces and six in Sinotermitomyces, the distribution of 11 species in China, viz. T. aurantiacus, T. bulborhizus, T. clypeatus, T. entolomoides, T. eurrhizus, T. globulus, T. heimii, T. mammiformis, T. microcarpus, T. striatus and T. tylerianus, is recognized, whilst seven are excluded because of misidentification or misapplied names, and five are unconfirmable owing to the lack of specimen support. There are nine synonyms of other known Termitomyces species, eight of which were described as new species from China. The recognized Chinese species are described in detail with discussion on their morphological variation. A key to the Chinese species is provided and discussion on other Chinese records made. Keywords — Agaricales, taxonomy, Lyophyllaceae Introduction Termitomyces is an agaric genus cultivated by termites, with basidiomata growing in association with termite nests. The relationship between Termitomyces and termites is mutualistic or symbiotic (Batra & Batra 1966, 1967, 1979, Batra 1975, Heim 1977, Bels & Pataragetivit 1982, Shaw 1992). The colonies of Termitomyces are managed by termites in their nest as “fungus gardens” and in return the fungi degrade lignin and cellulose of plant material for termites as food.

    FSO NEWSLETTER 2021 From the President, RICHARD FORTEY Every year that I report on the year’s fungus season for the FSO I make some claim about how peculiar the last twelve months have been compared with some years in the past. I think I am beginning to realize that there is no such thing as a “typical” mushroom year at all, and it is simply a fact that every year is different. 2020 was certainly different in one respect: Covid 19 put a brake on our communal foray activities, so that much of the peak season had to be solitary exploration of pastures and woodland—nothing against the rules in sampling on one’s own ... However, we were at least able to get something done for National Fungus Day in October, even though our regular foray around the Harcourt Arboretum was clearly impossible. Thanks to a concerted effort by our members we were able to assemble a wide variety of fruitbodies together to allow me to present a virtual fungus foray - filmed inside an open barn - which was subsequently made available online through the Oxford University Botanic Garden website. Thanks are due to the Arboretum for making this happen. Judging by the fact that is has been viewed more than 1000 times by the time of writing this report, it was something of a success. Highlights of the presentation were a prodigious specimen of Amanita strobiliformis (Warted Amanita) found by Judy Webb and a colossal Ganoderma resinaceum from Molly Dewey’s garden. Some say that the star of the show was actually a ground beetle that kept on reappearing throughout the shooting of the video, moving from fungus to fungus alongside the presenter! Assorted Russula species + a few Lactarius (Molly Dewey) Amanita strobiliformis (Judy Webb) 2020 was unusual not only for the ‘lockdown’ and its aftermath but also for the long, sunny, and very dry summer.
