Member's Annual Report 2014/15 Member’s Annual Report 2014/15 This is the report by the Councillor below regarding his key activities over the year ending 31 March 2015. It is provided for the information of all constituents and for no other purpose. The views expressed in this report are those of the Councillor and not necessarily reflect the views of the Isle of Anglesey County Council. Councillor: Richard Owain Jones Group: Independent Ward: Twrcelyn 1 - Role & Responsibilities Between April 2014 and March 2015, I sat on the following main 1Attendance Figures committees / sub-committees: Council 8 (73%) Partnership and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee 5 (62%) Planning and Orders Committee 12 (92%) Audit Committee 6 (67%) Appeals Committee (attendance on a rota basis) 4 Democratic Services Committee 4 (80%) Licensing Committee 1 (100%) The statistics provided are relevant only to the committees listed in this table. The statistics do not include attendance at other meetings related to the work of the Council. Attendance levels may vary due to the nature of work and responsibilities of members - as portfolio holder, committee chair or representing the Council on outside bodies, for example. I am a member of the Isle of Anglesey Charitable Trust (I attended 4 meetings) and the General Grants Committee. I represent the Council on the Number of meetings Number attended following outside bodies: arranged Wylfa Site Stakeholder Group 2 0 Horizon Nuclear Power Liaison Group 3 2 North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority* 3 2 North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority – 2 2 Executive Panel* (* - from October 2015) 2 - Constituency Activity Once again it has been a privilege to represent the Twrcelyn Ward. It has been a very busy period over the last 12 months with constituents contacting me either in person, phone, e-mail and social media on a wide range of issues and I have done my best to deal with these effectively. 1 Attendance figures supplied by the Isle of Anglesey County Council 1 As work commitments allow I attend Community Councils in Cemaes, Llaneilian, Rhosybol and Amlwch. I am on the board of Governors of Amlwch Primary School and I am proud to say that I am the Chair of Governors for Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones. 3 - Initiatives and Special Activities I have provided assistance on a number of local issues throughout the Twrcelyn Ward. Addressing issues regarding traffic calming measures in Amlwch, Rhosybol and Cemaes and also assisting residents of Amlwch Port with extra Street Lighting . I am pleased to report that the issues that were on going for many years regarding matters at Amlwch Port have now been resolved. 4 - Learning and Development I have attended the following learning and development initiatives during the past year (information supplied by the Isle of Anglesey County Council): Safeguarding Mai 2014 5 - Other Activities and Issues I am pleased to report that I have been successful in getting Amlwch in to the Anglesey Charitable Trust. This allows groups and clubs from Amlwch to apply for the Shell Grant of up to £8,000. My Charity work is on going with a run / cycle ride from Cardiff to Amlwch raising £14,000 and Challenge 15 Golf Tournament raising £3,000, with the money being shared locally to various Groups, Clubs and associations. As Vice Chair of the Island Games Association, work is on going in developing Sport throughout the Island. Following a successful Games in Jersey this year, work has started in bidding to host the 2025 games on Anglesey. May I take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support.
