EAST COAST EAGLES AFL FOOTBALL CLUB Inc. PRESIDENT’S REPORT Peter Physick 2001 was the 25th year of operation for the Baulkham Hills Australian Football Club and it is historical that the 26th year will see the Club amicably separate into two different entities. Two Annual General Meetings will be held in November this year (see page 14). The first will be for the Falcons who will be reverting back to their roots as a fully-fledged Junior Football Club continuing to play in the Northside JAFA. The second will be for the East Coast Eagles AFL Football Club, which will continue to participate in the Sydney AFL. This resolution will already be known to everyone of course but it is worthwhile to revisit the reasons for the decision. As football continues

12 March 2014 AFL on Seven lines up in 2014 Sunday Night footy, more Thursday nights, extended Friday Night previews, the return of Talking Footy and three boom new recruits headline the changes for AFL on Seven in 2014. The 2014 AFL season kicks off this week with Seven delivering more blockbuster footy on more nights than ever before as recruits Wayne Carey, Jude Bolton and comedian Mick Molloy join the biggest names in football on Seven’s expanded commentary team. Seven’s coverage launches on Friday Night with an extended match preview starting at the all-new time of 7pm AEDT on 7mate. In Victoria and South Australia the coverage moves to Channel 7 at 7.30pm AEDT. All-time great Wayne Carey features throughout the night as an expert analyst. On Saturdays, comedian Mick Molloy takes a seat on the panel for the Saturday Night Footy pregame show to add a ‘voice from the outer’ with his sharp and irreverent look at the AFL. Swans champion and dual premiership star Jude Bolton also joins the team on Saturday and Sunday afternoons as a field commentator. Throughout the season, Sunday Night Football also comes to primetime on Seven for the first time with two blockbuster matches – the Round 3 clash between Essendon and Carlton, and the Round 15 battle between Carlton and arch enemies Collingwood. There will be more Thursday Night Football in 2014 too, with five matches on Seven, up from three last year. Off the field, Seven’s weekly line-up of AFL programs will also include the return of fan favourites Talking Footy, AFL Game Day and Footy Flashbacks.

ADELAIDE CROWS CHRIS KNIGHTS (Fwd) $262,800 Knights returned to the line up last week against Port Adelaide and was one of Adelaide’s best, finishing with 106 points. VFL Round 1 9 & 10 April 2016 $3.00 Race for glory starts anew Welcome to the start of the 2016 Peter Jackson VFL season. It has been six months since stand-alone side Williamstown held aloft the premiership trophy at Etihad Stadium aft er defeating the Box Hill Hawks in the 2015 season finale, and the race for the 2016 title starts this weekend. At the end of last year it was pleasing to see eight players draft ed to the AFL from the VFL – with the competition enjoying the most national NAB AFL Draft selections (four) since 2006. In 2016 there will be 35 VFL draft ees on AFL lists – including names such as Michael Barlow, Ed Curnow, Matt Jones, Adam Saad and Ben Brown – which is a credit to the work done by our state-league clubs in helping develop talent for the elite level. Clubs have again attracted a strong mix of former AFL talent, many hoping to emulate the likes of Mitch Brown and Cameron Wood from recent years with a return to the AFL in future years, while the number of former TAC Cup players within the competition has grown again in 2016. Peter Jackson VFL action returns to Channel 7 in its new Sunday home for 2016 with Port Melbourne hosting Collingwood in Round 1. Ratings were up by 50 per cent last year, with 49,000 viewers on average tuning in to watch the best state league football has to off er. This year we will also be video streaming a game each Saturday via vfl.com.au, with Coburg and North Ballarat featuring in the season-opener.
