Short Summary of the Project The Farmers Association from Cristur Area will organize an 8 day Youth Mobility entitled SUPERMARKET vs LOCAL PRODUCER = SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT. In the project will participate 35 young participants from 5 EU countries. During the 8 days of this mobility, the participants will do various non formal activities where they would analyze and find solution to the ever growing problems related to not sustainable food consumption trends in our societies and social issues connected to food consumption in European countries.

The activities of the exchange will include: - getting to know one another, Erasmus+ and team building activities, - a whole day process of making groups, buying food in the city, for the breakfasts of the youth exchange and analysing the types of food bought, their sources, reasons for buying them, and alternative options - visits and discussions with a CEO of a supermarket in our area - visits and discussions to local farmers and market managers - a community event where the participants will cook food for a group of 30 guests (decision makers, teachers, young people, parents, etc) and where, during the dinner, the prepared food will be divided for the guests and the participants according to the amount of food consumption in the continents of the world. - another community event, where the participants will reach out to some families that face social difficulties in our city, to give them new alternatives and ideas on how to grow their own food rather than having to buy it

Kossuth Lajos, Bl B3, Ap. 17, Harghita, 535400 [email protected] - cultural activities and sightseeing events - and closing activities which include planning for the future, evaluation and giving Youthpass certificates which assess the learning achievements of the participants.

Through these activities of our project we wish to reach the following objectives: 1. To involve around 35 young participants into a youth exchange where they can learn about the two types of food consumption, the globalized one and the localized one and its alternatives of not buying, but growing 2. To raise awareness on the simple changes the local and international target groups and participants can make in order to influence the sustainable development of local communities facing social difficulties. 3. To involve 30 decision making members of our community in an awareness raising event for urging them to change their decision making towards more sustainable solutions and trends. 4. To offer new and creative options of lifestyles and trends to to a few socially challenged families in the region, but also 35 young people from 5 countries, especially for the 12 youths with fewer opportunities who will participate in the project. 5. To allow our participants to develop their intercultural knowledge and understanding of Europe.

Participant Profile Each Group has 7 members, 1 group leader and 6 participants. - Age of the group leader: no age limit. - Age of the participants has to be 18-25. - 2 or 3 of the participants have to be youngsters facing social-economical-geographical- educational obstacles (12 from the 5 countries)

How to Prepare The young participants should prepare the following: - creative presentation of their cultures, traditions and language on the cultural light; - creative presentation of the situation and which are the trends related to food consumption in their countries - bring materials (food, drinks, pictures, movies, music, etc) for intercultural night - to agree on one dish that they will prepare for the dinner event on the 6 day. This will need to be for a larger group of people and they will have to know the recipe and to know the amounts of foodstuff needed to prepare this dish.

This includes travel, accommodation, food and organization. Each Partner should search the lowest means of transport to arrive in Romania, this means low cost airline tickets and second class bus, train tickets. All tickets, boarding passes, bills and proof of payments must be kept and sent to the host organization. For arriving in Cristuru Secuiesc, You should manage the travels in your own country and the flight. We will manage your travel from Airports in Romania. When choosing your Flights, be sure that You find Wizz Air connections from your country to Airports like Tirgu Mures (very close) Cluj, (close), Arad, Timisoara and Bucharest (far). Before Booking any Airline ticket or any other travel means, send your plan to [email protected] for a confirmation.

Accommodation We will be hosted In a Renting Home in Cristuru Secuiesc. The building is owned by the Catholic Church and managed privately. It can host 45 people at 1 time and has rooms with 2 to 5 beds. Participants will be randomly selected in rooms, in order to ensure a multicultural division everywhere. Food Most of the time, we will have breakfast in the restaurant of the renting room. Lunch and Dinner will be in a restaurant in the city. Most of the food will be European but there will be occasions to try traditional Romanian and Seckler food. If there are participants who are vegetarian, with a special diet, or other eating needs, pleas let us know in advance and we will try to prepare for this

About the Town Cristuru Secuiesc (RO), Székelykeresztúr (HU), is a town in , Romania. It lies in the Seckler Land, an ethno-cultural region in eastern where the majority of the population is Seckler, who are a Hungarian ethnic group which speak a distinct dialect of Hungarian.

The population of the town is 9672, from which 96% are of Hungarian ethnicity, 3% of Romanian while 1% belongs to other groups. Historically the region, with the whole of Transylvania was part of the Hungarian Kingdom and later, of the Austro Hungarian Empire. After World War 1, it became part of Romania.
