Course Registration according to Korean Language Proficiency’ on page 16 ※ As Criteria C candidates must complete minimum 2 semesters (6 months) of Korean language courses at Hongik International Language Institute, applicants need to have more than 6 months of remaining period of their visa (D-4-1, visa for Korean Language Course) from the date of enrollment to visa expiry. If an applicant fails to enroll at Hongik University International Language Institute due to visa or other reasons, admission can be canceled. International Language Institute Admission Date D-4-1 Visa Expiry Date Study Period From Sep. 1, 2018, 2018 Fall Admission Applicant Should be later than Feb. 28, 2019 6 months or more From Mar. 1, 2019, 2019 Spring Admission Applicant Should be later than Aug. 31, 2019 6 months or more - 7 - III. Eligibility to Apply For an applicant to be eligible for international admission, he/she must have graduated or is expected to graduate from high school prior to admission, and the applicant and both of his/her parents must have obtained foreign citizenship before the applicant’s entering high school. Here, the term “parents” refers to biological father and mother or adoptive father and mother, but not stepfather or stepmother, and a foreign citizenship means a non-Korean citizenship. ※ One is not qualified to apply as an international student, if - he/she acquired a foreign citizenship by foreign adoption after entering middle school. - he/she or either of the parents holds a Korean citizenship or a dual citizenship of Korea and another country. ※ Students from a country with fewer than 12 years of preliminary and secondary school education will be considered eligible if they have completed an educational program recognized by the Korean Ministry of Education as being equivalent to formal 12 years of preliminary and secondary school program. ※ Guidelines for recognized foreign schools - Applicant must complete 12 years of preliminary and secondary regular education officially acknowledged by his/her own country. Institutions not considered as recognized schools are language schools, college preparation programs, continuing education or adult schools, on-line education, internet-based study programs, high school equivalency tests(GED in USA, Chinese self-study exam, etc). - Nursery, pre-school or language learning institutions are not recognized as parts of 12 years of preliminary and secondary school education. - 8 - IV. However the problems of this urban concentration become gradually obvious and have limited the development of the metropolises. They are hardly managed by current planning measures. In the diversifying social needs for heterogeneous life styles and sustainable mobility, now it is inevitable to adjust the sustainable space system. As an alternative answerable to this new demand here is suggested an approach of network cities. Even though strategies for network cities were proposed with an example of South Korea, the conceptual approaches can be applied to other countries, especially functionally centralized nations or developing countries which experience now rapid urbanization than any other times. Until this concept of network cities was made concrete, however the direct and indirect contribution of several important persons was essential. They were willing to discuss with me and give me recommendations. Here I wish my deep appreciation for their kindness. I thank Prof. Bernd Scholl for not only his scientific support and guidance throughout my works but also his tolerance and encouragement. He suggested me to investigate diverse spatial development plans for city networks in other countries and helped me to think of ideas on network cities.

In this study, the heat island spatial analysis was calculated and conducted for analysis of urban thermal environment of Sejong city, which was launched in 2012 and has been developed rapidly. To analyze the ratio and change rate of urban area, a multi temporal land cover map (2013 to 2015 and 2017) of study area is generated based on Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS (Operational Land Imager / Thermal Infrared Sensor) satellite imagery. Then, we select an TIR (Thermal Infrared) band from the two TIR bands provided by the Landsat-8, which is used for calculating the heat island potential, through the accuracy evaluation of the brightness temperature and AWS (Automatic Weathering Station) data. Based on the selected band and surface emissivity, land surface temperature is calculated and the estimated heat island potential change is analyzed. As a result, the land surface temperature of the high ratio and change rate of urban area was significantly higher than the surrounding area around 3℃ to 4℃, and the heat island potential was also higher around 4℃ to 5℃.
