Fauna and distribution of Ctenopelmatinae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) in the Hyrcanian forests, Mazandaran province (northern Iran) is studied. Specimens were collected during 2009 and 2016 using malaise traps. Five species were identified, out of which two genera i.e. Ctenopelma Holmgren, 1857 and Sympherta Förster, 1869 and four species i.e. Ctenopelma rufiventre (Gravenhorst, 1829), Mesoleius filicornis Holmgren, 1876, Perilissus pallidus (Gravenhorst, 1829) and Sympherta antilope (Gravenhorst, 1829) are new records for the Iranian fauna. The list of the known species of the Ctenopelmatinae in Iran is updated. Altitudinal distribution of the identified species across the Hyrcanian forests is provided. We suggest that these previously unavailable tools should be used in biological control programs targeting “legacy pests”, even if they have been targets of previously unsuccessful biocontrol projects. Examples of “new tools” include molecular analyses to verify species identities and likely geographic area of origin, climate matching and ecological niche modeling, preservation of natural enemy genetic diversity in quarantine, the use of theory from invasion biology to maximize establishment likelihoods for natural enemies, and improved understanding of the interactions between natural enemy and target pest microbiomes. -

New information Of the 2,447 species regarded as valid and certainly identified, 214 are here recorded for the first time from the British Isles. Neorhacodinae is considered to be a separate subfamily rather than a synonym of Tersilochinae. Echthrini is treated as a junior synonym of the tribe Cryptini, not Hemigastrini. SCOTTISH INVERTEBRATE SPECIES KNOWLEDGE DOSSIER Hymenoptera: Parasitoid Wasps 1 (Parasitoid Wasps 1) Parasitoid wasps are an artificial grouping of Hymenopteran families that share similar life strategies, but are not necessarily related. It is therefore a polyphyletic group. It has been used here to group these families for convenience, but does not have taxonomic value. Parasitoid wasps have been split between 20 separate Scottish Invertebrate Species Knowledge Dossiers. This first dossier includes species of conservation concern, summary family information, distribution data and identification guides for all Parasitoid wasps The other dossiers provide detailed species lists for each super family and family known to occur in Scotland (as appropriate). Multitrophic Level Interactions The multitrophic level approach to ecology addresses the com- plexity of food-webs much more realistically than the tradi- tional focus on simple systems and interactions. Only in the last twenty years have ecologists become interested in the nature of more complex systems, including tritrophic interactions between plants, herbivores, and natural enemies. Plants may directly influence the behavior of their herbivores’ natural enemies, ecological interactions between two species are often indirectly mediated by a third species, landscape structure directly affects local tritrophic interactions, and below-ground food-webs are vital to above-ground organisms. The relative importance of top-down effects (control by predators) and bottom-up effects (control by resources) must also be deter- mined. These interactions are explored in this exciting new volume by expert researchers from a variety of ecological fields. This book provides a much-needed synthesis of multitrophic level interactions and serves as a guide for future research for ecologists of all descriptions. teja tscharntke is Professor of Agroecology at the University of Göttingen, Germany. The Ichneumonid Fauna (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) of Lagodekhi Reserve, Sakartvelo (Georgia), with Descriptions of Four New Species

Four species are described as new for science: Tycherus flavofacies nov.sp. (Ichneumoninae), Nemeritis caucasicus nov.sp. (Campopleginae), Xestopelta striata nov.sp. (Diplazontinae) and Campodorus caucasicus nov.sp. (Ctenopelmatinae). K e y w o r d s : Ichneumonidae, new species, Georgia, Caucasus. Introduction The Ichneumonidae represent a very large family of parasitoid Hymenoptera with more than 7,000 known species in the Western Palaearctic region (YU et al. 2016). Despite their abundance and importance as agents of biological pest control, our knowledge of their distribution and biology is still incomplete, even in better studied areas such as Europe. Here, we present a survey of the Ichneumonid fauna of a diverse primeval nature area of Georgia, the Lagodekhi Natural Reserve (JAPOSHVILI 2017). This reserve at Mount Lagodekhi was established in 1912 and is located in the extreme north-eastern part of Georgia and of the southern slopes of the Caucasus area with a range of altitudes from 590 to 3500 m. -

The present checklist was compiled as part of the DNA barcoding projects at the Zoologische Staatssammlung München. New information The checklist includes 3,644 species of Ichneumonidae from Germany, with 48 species recorded for the first time. Compared to the checklist published 20 years ago, the number of ichneumonid species recorded from Germany has increased by 312 species. © Riedel M et al.
