Bishop ’s DVD series, “Conversion” Faith Formation Program Illuminating six biblical stories of conversion, Bishop Barron explores how to follow the call of Christ toward an ever deeper, personal relationship with Him. Beginning Wednesday, October 2 in the Rectory @ 9:30 am OR 6:30 pm Conversion is not just a one time event, but an ever-deepening process of growing closer to Jesus until we are finally and fully united with him and his will. Through six biblical stories, Bishop Barron demonstrates how those who have met God are forever changed and live the rest of their lives in service to his plan and his . By exploring these stories we will come to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of conversion in our own lives, how to discern God’s call to us, how to overcome the obstacles we put up to answering the call, and the fruit of saying “yes” to God. Facilitated by Noël Fuentes, our Pastoral Associate/Director of Faith Formation. Pre- registration/payment required ($30 for registered parishioners/$40 for non-registered). Call (805-682-1097), email ([email protected]), or stop by the parish office for a registration form.

David Potter celebrates 25 years here at San Roque parish this September. That’s well over 1250 weekends, 5000 Masses NOT including holidays, funerals, and weddings, and 25 years of choirs and choir rehearsals! David leads the congregation in its praise of the Lord at Mass, and he is not only leading singing and accompanying the congregation on the organ and piano, he is directing the whole of liturgy! From preparations that commence early in the week of preparing the presider’s books to writing heartfelt and timely prayers for many needs spoken during the Universal Prayer or Prayer of the Faithful, he works tirelessly behind the scenes. David creates and consults on decorating the church and faithfully sets up the gathering area for coffee and donuts, unlocks doors and gates to welcome all who come. His leadership and coordination efforts on the Annual Giving Tree project ensure many, many people have a wonderfully generous Christmas in their own homes. His guidance and wisdom on the Parish Pastoral Council and other committees have helped the new pastors coming here transition smoothly and the veteran pastors look and sound their best at liturgy. There is so much more… How can a community of believers thank someone who has cried with them, laughed with them, shared a quarter century with them? Well they can’t. They can only say “thank you from our hearts” to someone who is like a son, brother, uncle, father figure and dear friend. God bless and keep you healthy and happy David, we love you!

Please come congratulate and thank David in the Gathering Area after the 9:30 am Mass TODAY! Other Community News
