Lichtenberg is a part of Berlin, which has altogether about 270,000 inhabitants. About 48,000 of them moved here from more than 150 different countries. We are your new neighbors and will certainly be your new friends, colleagues and customers soon. We know that the start in a foreign country, a foreign language and culture is not easy. Particularly in the beginning, you will have to get over a lot of administrative barriers. Many people from foreign countries need time to find their way through our administration. The district council of Lich- tenberg is one of these authorities. I am the mayor of Lichtenberg and the head of the district council. To make life a bit easier after your arrival we want to offer you some help, with this welcoming brochure. Here you will find a lot of information about our services and how to use them. This includes important documents which need to be applied for at our offices. In this brochure you will also find the first German words and important sayings which we often use. The longer you`ll stay in Germany the better you`ll speak German. I wish you a good start in our country. It is also your country now. With this Add-on you have purchased a very special realisation, as it is our very first to be based upon a vehicle model series made from scratch in the DTG Train Simulator. We have created a completely new, modular script- system to replicate the specific functions of the Berlin S-Bahn, following in an appropriately long time of development. The time was well spent: next to many very detailed characteristics like flickering lights and correctly calculated switching sparks, we also could implement entirely new systems such as an independent simulation of passengers for realistically packed trains and an extendable, fully functioning IBIS (Integrated-Board-Information-System) for the destination display and announcements. Another specialty is the fact that, in addition to the vehicle, we also managed to put a whole route into the package. Cheers to Jan Bleiß! He allowed us take the S25 part of his Add-on route “Berlin- Leipzig” and fit it to our needs for this package. Together with him, we look forward to see the fully finished S25 (to Henningsdorf); announced for 2020, with this route our vehicle will be able to fully play its potential… As usually, we have added some local colour to our scenarios and as a further addition the S-Bahn classes 475 (“Stadtbahner) and 480 (“Toaster”) are included in the package. März 2015 Liebe Mitglieder, im Dezember letzten Jahres war es soweit – die Geschäftsstelle des Heimatvereins ist umgezogen! Wir nutzen nun einen kleinen Büroraum im Rathaus Schmargendorf. In den letzten beiden Rundbriefen waren die Geschehnisse um die Ermordung eines 17jährigen Deserteurs in den letzten Kriegstagen im April 1945 bereits Thema. Nun ist es soweit: am Freitag, dem 24. April 2015, gegen 16 Uhr wird eine pultartige Gedenktafel auf dem südlichen Mittelstreifen der Uhlandstraße (an der Kreuzung Berliner Straße) enthüllt. Der Text der Tafel wird lauten: Hier wurde in den letzten Tagen des April 1945 ein 17jähriger von Nationalsozialisten erhängt. Zur Erinnerung an ihn und alle anderen, die sich der Teilnahme am Krieg verweigerten und deshalb ermordet wurden. Es wäre gut, wenn möglichst viele Bürgerinnen und Bürger bei dieser Enthüllung der Gedenktafel anwesend sein können. Der Sammler von historischen Wertpapieren, Wolfgang Lorenz, ist mit der Bitte um weitere Informationen über den „Kleingartenbauverein Rheingau eGmbH“ an den Heimatverein herangetreten.
