(a): Yes, Madam. Ministry of Railways is taking steps to fast track electrification projects.

(b): Indian Railways have already embarked upon a major Electrification Programme to speed up the electrification of Railway Lines as can be seen from the targets and achievements of 10th, 11th and 12th Five Year Plans (FYP). Plan Route Kilometers Electrified 10th 1810 11th 4556 12th 6500 (Target)

During the first two years of 12th Five Year Plan i.e. (2012-13 & 2013-14), 2667 Route Kilometres (RKM) have been electrified as against the proportionate target of 2600 Route Kilometres(RKM).
