OLLI at SOU 4 Fall 2021 Catalog A note from SOU Director, Outreach and Engagement Programs... Welcome to Fall Term 2021!

f we have learned anything in the past 18 months, one of the top lessons has Ibeen how to live with uncertainty. Nonetheless, at the time that I’m writing this we are inching ever closer to a more familiar sort of Fall Term. While OLLI at SOU has proved adept at existing in ambiguity during the pandemic, the return to normal operations will be a welcome reprieve from the unusual nature of the past academic year. OLLI at SOU has weathered the COVID-19 pandemic admirably. As in the past, we remain at the forefront as one of the most robust, healthy, affordable, and resourceful OLLI programs in the country. Throughout the pandemic we have maintained a strong membership. Our number of courses per term is more than double the national average for OLLI programs, and we are one of only a small handful of OLLIs that found ways to offer social events on Zoom during the pandemic. Remarkably, we ended the 2020-21 academic year having garnered students and instructors from ninety-one cities and towns across the ! Rachel Jones, Director, All of this, and more, are a testament to the impressive governance and SOU Outreach & Engagement management of OLLI at SOU. The commitment of our council, committee members, and tireless staff, coupled with the strength of our governance process have enabled us to remain vibrant and healthy even during diffcult times. As we embark on a new academic year that feels full of promise, and the long-awaited unveiling of our fully renovated Campbell Center, the fall term is beckoning as a time of revival and delight. Whether joining us in-person or remotely, come join us this fall for a year of exploration, discovery, and renewal. Rachel Jones Director, SOU Outreach & Engagement
