Ed & Carolynn Ciersezwski Constance Marie Frank and Jill Van Dresser I can tell you that, from the perspective of someone who has just been welcomed into the Donald & Kathy Collier Hammersmith

Flyer Family, I have already observed many attributes that the members of this family Paul & Connie Davis Endowed Scholarship consistently exhibit which are the foundation of the Flyer Legacy. After my first day at St. Paul, Kurt Ensman Glenn & Vickie Hammersmith Edwin and Dolores Skinn by Darren Conley, my wife asked me how things went. My response was to smile and say that everyone I met that Jay & Paulette Ewell Endowed Scholarship JH/SPH Director of Education day was genuinely kind and welcoming. After 33 years in education, I have a pretty good sense P Martin & Maureen B Fagans Fr Frank Kehres Joe & Michele Skinn of the difference between a genuine welcome and one that says, “Great, another administrator Steven & Barbara Fries Scholarship for the Theodore & Anita Skinn who was also a football coach!” Thomas & Nancy Fries Benefit of Hispanic Ron Skinn & Jack Hornor Another incredible trait that characterizes the educator-ministers here is their sense of what Helen Hackathorn Students Thomas & Amy Skinn Christie Harper Linda Swick it means to truly serve the families of St. Paul. The staff that I am blessed to lead does so much Rev Frank Kehres Lois Hug more than what happens within the classroom! When the educators here see a need, they “I have already immediately begin to develop a plan to address it. The plan usually involves the thought, “How John & Julie Keegan can I help in this situation?” instead of, “Who should I call to address the problem?” This attitude Claire Kerekes Mike Gottfried Endowed observed many is sorely lacking in the schools I have served throughout the years. Kathryn King Scholarship Steven and Julie Hug After time to reflect on this a little more deeply, the true Flyer Legacy, as I see it, makes Pauline Kunder Darryl and Shannon Skinn attributes that the perfect sense! My grandmother was one of my life’s heroes. We used to quilt, garden, can the Allan & Sue Lesch Daniel and Traci White members of this harvest, and make pickles together. To this day, when I smell Bread-n-Butter pickles, I’m Sr Mary Jaculin Manders transported back to her house, staring into that big ceramic crock! One sunny afternoon, we John & Mary Ann McQuillen family consistently were in the garden. Grandma picked a bruised tomato and said, “Watch this, Darren.” As I John & Paula Meesig looked on, she squeezed the tomato and the dark pink juice ran down her arm. She asked, Jacqueline Mersereau exhibit which are “When you squeeze a tomato what comes out?” I replied, “tomato juice.” She then asked a Joseph & Sherri Mossing question that I’ve always remembered. “When you squeeze a Christian what should come Daniel & Sharon Mouch the foundation of out?” I obviously had no idea what she was asking. “When a Christian gets squeezed by life’s Robert & Karen Ott problems love comes out.” At 5 years old, I didn’t fully comprehend what she meant by this. Patricia Peschke the Flyer Legacy.” As my faith has grown, I now understand that she meant that whether a Christian is in plenty Rose Riedy or want, in good times or times of hardship, the Fruits of the Spirit should flow from them. And John & Suzanne Riley that’s where the Legacy of St. Paul comes in. The parish and school family and the St. Paul Darryl & Shannon Skinn community exude kindness, joy, self-control, generosity, patience, goodness, love, modesty, Joe & Michele Skinn faithfulness, peace, gentleness and a chaste heart and mind. These fruits are shared with the W David Skinn local community and beyond. John & Carolyn Spieldenner This year, we are focusing specifically on three of these traits of the Christian walk. We are Ciprian Streza teaching and practicing these fruits as well as recognizing students and staff who Live in Joy, Mary Jane Tight Practice Kindness and Demonstrate Self-Control in their actions. We are Stephen & Frances Vargo calling this initiative “Faithful Flyer”. If you visit our buildings, preschool Steve & Debra A Winkle through grade 12, you will see posters detailing what Joy, Kindness and Diane Wiles Self-Control look like in the hallways, classrooms, gym, cafeteria, and other Sr Mary Clarine Young settings around campus. Our entire St. Paul family is being taught how to respond in all of life’s circumstances. I feel honored and humbled to be a member of this family as we undertake this work to further the Legacy of St. Paul and the Kingdom of Heaven.
