OVERVIEW Red Hat Storage Console is a web-based storage management platform specially designed to efficiently manage the software-defined storage technologies offered by Red Hat. The Console simplifies the installation, configuration, monitoring, and management of Red Hat’s software-based storage systems. Red Hat Storage Console 2.0 provides seamless management of the Red Hat Ceph Storage ecosystem by providing functionalities such as creating new Ceph storage clusters, monitoring the cluster health and managing the storage capacity through an intuitive and simplified interface. 3 Red Hat Storage Console 2.0 Quick Start Guide CHAPTER 2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS This chapter covers the system requirements for Red Hat Storage Console environment. It includes system requirements for the host system, the storage nodes and the client system. 2.1. REQUIREMENTS FOR HOST SYSTEM Host system refers to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 system on which the Red Hat Storage Console is installed and started. 2.1.1. Hardware Requirements Red Hat Storage Console recommends the following hardware requirements for the host system. Recommended Requirements: A quad core CPU or multiple dual core CPUs 16 GB of available system RAM that is not being consumed by existing processes One Network Interface Card (NIC) with bandwidth of at least 1 Gbps 2.1.2. Software Requirements Red Hat Storage Console supports the following software requirements on the host system. Table 2.1. Software Requirements for Host System Software Name and Version Operating System Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 Storage Provider Red Hat Ceph Storage 2.0 2.2. REQUIREMENTS FOR RED HAT CEPH STORAGE NODES For system requirements to configure Red Hat Ceph Storage nodes, see the Red Hat Ceph Storage Hardware Guide and the Red Hat Ceph Storage Installation Guide for Red Hat Enterprise Linux available on the Red Hat Customer Portal. 2.3. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CLIENT SYSTEM The Red Hat Storage Console web interface can be accessed by a client machine with the following web browser compatibility. Table 2.2. Web Browser Compatibility 4 CHAPTER 2. INSTALLING AND CONFIGURING RED HAT STORAGE CONSOLE ON HOST SYSTEM This chapter covers installing Red Hat Storage Console on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 host system using packages and QCOW image format. 3.1. RED HAT STORAGE CONSOLE PACKAGE INSTALLATION To install Red Hat Storage Console, register the host system using Red Hat Subscription Manager, enable the required repositories, install the Red Hat Storage Console packages and start the server. The following procedure outlines the steps to install Red Hat Storage Console on the Host system: Procedure. Installing Red Hat Storage Console on Host System 1. To register the host system using Red Hat Subscription Manager, run the following command and enter the Red Hat Customer Portal username and password: # subscription-manager register 2. Attach the Entitlement Pools to the host system by running the following command: # subscription-manager attach --pool=[POOLID] Note The Pool ID depends on the registered Red Hat Customer Portal account. The available pools are accessible by running the subscription-manager list --available command. 3. Run the following command to disable any existing repositories: # subscription-manager repos --disable "*" 4. To enable the repositories required to install Red Hat Storage Console, run the following command: # subscription-manager repos --enable=rhel-7-server-rpms 5. Add the Red Hat Storage Console repository to the host system: # subscription-manager repos --enable=rhel-7-server-rhscon-2- main-rpms 6. Add the Ceph installer repository to the host system: # subscription-manager repos --enable=rhel-7-server-rhscon-2- installer-rpms 7. Import the GPG key by running the following command: 6 CHAPTER 3. INSTALLING AND CONFIGURING RED HAT STORAGE CONSOLE ON HOST SYSTEM # rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-redhat-release 8. Install the Red Hat Storage Console packages: # yum install rhscon-core rhscon-ceph rhscon-ui After the Red Hat Storage Console Packages are successfully installed, the next step is to configure the Firewall. 3.2. FIREWALL CONFIGURATION 3.2.1. Configuring Red Hat Storage Console Server Ports Configure the firewall after the package installation of Red Hat Storage Console. The commands given in this section are to configure the firewall permanently. For the system to consider this, reload the firewall service by using the command firewall-cmd --reload, after executing all the port opening commands. For Skyring Service With Https and without Https: # firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=10443/tcp # firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=8080/tcp For Salt-Master Service # firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=4505-4506/tcp For Graphite-Web Access # firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=10080/tcp Data To Graphite Server # firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=2003/tcp Ceph Installer # firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-service=ceph-installer Note To configure the firewall for ceph-installer, ensure that the ceph-installer package is installed.

Agentless periodic filesystem monitors are optimal solutions to protect cloud virtual machines because of the secure and low-overhead features. However, most of the periodic monitors usually scan all of the virtual machine filesystem or protected files in every scanning poll, so lots of secure files are scanned again and again even though they are not corrupted. In this paper, we propose a novel agentless periodic filesystem monitor framework for virtual machines with different image formats to improve the performance of agentless periodic monitors. Our core idea is to minimize the scope of the scanning files in both file integrity checking and virus detection. In our monitor, if a file is considered secure, it will not be scanned when it has not been modified. Since our monitor only scans the newly created and modified files, it can check less files than other filesystem monitors.
