COMUNE DI CASTELVETRO DI MODENA Servizio Segreteria del Sindaco - Comunicazione ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ comunicato stampa 19.05.2010 21, 22 E 23 MAGGIO: LE AZIENDE DI CASTELVETRO PARTECIPANO A LA SELEZIONE DEL SINDACO La Selezione del Sindaco - l’unico concorso enologico internazionale che prevede la partecipazione congiunta dell’Azienda (che produce il vino) e del Comune (in cui sono localizzate le vigne) - si propone di valorizzare le piccole partite di vino di qualità, frutto della tradizione e di un ben individuato territorio, e di favorirne la conoscenza anche attraverso Internet. La partecipazione è riservata ai vini di qualità (Docg, Doc, Igt) prodotti in piccole partite. Ogni anno, nel rispetto del carattere anche didattico che la rassegna si propone, è coinvolta una scuola ad indirizzo agrario. La Selezione del Sindaco è un concorso enologico itinerante, che cambia cioè ad ogni edizione la sede delle sessioni di assaggio nell’intento di valorizzare al meglio tutti i territori delle città del vino. A partire dalla sua prima edizione che nel 2002 si è svolta a Siena, la manifestazione ha percorso l’Italia dal Nord al Sud coinvolgendo Conegliano (2003), Alba (2004), Roma (2005), Ortona (2006), Monreale (2007), Cividale del Friuli (2008), San Michele all'Adige (2009). L'edizione 2010 si terrà presso il Castello Svevo di Brindisi, dove nei giorni 21, 22 e 23 maggio, le commissioni internazionali composte da enologi, enotecnici, assaggiatori, sommeliers e giornalisti del settore enogastronomico valuteranno le bottiglie in gara. Dumbarton Oaks Fieldwork sponsored this project. The materials document in detail mosaics and other architectural aspects from several buildings in Sicily. The collection contains photographic negatives and oversize drawings from Capella Palatina, Cefalù, Martorana, Monreale, and other sites. HISTORICAL NOTE Ernst Kitzinger was born on December 27, 1912 in Munich and died on January 22, 2003 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He received his PhD, summa cum laude, from the University of Munich in 1934 under the direction of Wilhelm Pinder. He completed his dissertation entitled Roman Painting from the early seventh to mid-eight century1 where he discussed the influence of Byzantine art on the early stages of medieval Roman artistic production. In the same year, Kitzinger moved to England, where he worked at the Department of British and Mediaeval Antiques at the British Musum, and in 1937, he published Early Medieval Art at the British Museum.2 He eventually migrated to the United States in 1941, and “he had been created Director of Studies [at Dumbarton Oaks], a post that he held with great distinction from 1955 until 19663. From 1950 to 1951, Kitzinger was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship during his tenure as an Assistant Professor of Byzantine Art and Archaeology at Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection (Dumbarton Oaks).

IL QUARTIERE S. VITO MARTIRE DI MONREALE STORIA E TRADIZIONE a cura di Stefano Intravaia Monreale – giugno 2008 PREMESSA L’ archivio storico della parrocchia di San Vito Martire contiene per la maggior parte buste che riguardano l’amministrazione finanziaria della Compagnia di San Carlo Borromeo, chiesa e Confraternita di San Vito, datate dal 1520 all’anno 1907, e registri degli atti di pagamento dei censi dovuti alla Chiesa Santa Maria in Orto per il periodo 1857 - 1977. Tutt’ ora questa documentazione è conservata nella sacrestia della parrocchia, all’interno di un armadio, e complessivamente l’archivio risulta formato da 20 registri, con numero progressivo di cordata, da 30 buste contenenti 166 fascicoli, anche questi numerati in progressione, protetti da due piatti di cartoncino duro e trattenuti da lacci. La spinta che ha impresso movimento a questo lavoro di ricerca essenzialmente si basa sugli atti relativi al pagamento dei censi, da cui ho potuto trarre una miriade di notizie che comprendono anzitutto i nomi dei possidenti del quartiere, la sua toponomastica, la consistenza dei gruppi familiari e notizie sulle sue abitazioni. Lo scopo di questa pubblicazione è quello di mostrare, con molta umiltà e con la consapevolezza che tanto ancora deve esser detto e scritto, la vicenda secolare del quartiere di san Vito e della sua gente, secondo ogni possibile punto di vista. Per far ciò sono stati utili, oltre l’archivio in questione, la documentazione conservata nell’archivio di san Vito, della Collegiata, del Duomo, dell’Archivio storico diocesano, del Comune di Monreale, dell’archivio di Stato di Palermo e alcuni scritti del professore Giuseppe Schirò, estratti da documenti inediti del canonico Gaetano Millunzi.
