In 2010, Mount Sinabung was erupted and in August 2013 it was erupted again which caused 32,303 people to evacuate to 42 evacuation camps. Health institution, particularly hospitals, always plays its important role in every disaster incidence although many hospitals do not prepare for facing disasters. Therefore, the management of a hospital must be ready to handle a disaster by having Disaster Responsiveness Team, planning for handling hospital disaster, adequate human resources in health and facility, having specific procedures and cost for handling disaster victims. The objective of the research was to find out the preparedness of RSU Kabanjahe in handling disaster victims in 2014. The research was conducted at RSU Kabanjahe from May to June, 2014. The research used qualitative design with phenomenological approach. Informants were obtained by using purposive sampling technique, followed by snowball sampling technique. The samples were selected according to the objective of the research, and the data were gathered by conducting observation, interviews, documentation, and audiovisuals and analyzed qualitatively with deductive method. The result of the research showed that the planning for handling hospital disaster had not yet been organized, the team for handling hospital disaster was just established, human resources in health was adequate but their capacity needed to be improved, facility for handling disaster victims was insufficient, there was no SOP for handling disaster, and there was no special budget for handling disaster victims. It is recommended that the management of RSU Kabanjahe organize the document of hospital disaster planning, provide training about emergency/disaster, provide equipment and infrastructure which support the handling of disaster, organize special procedure, and own special budget for handling disaster. International Journal of Architecture and Urbanism Vol. 03, No. 02, 2019 | 160 – 168 The Design Museum of Mount Sinabung with Neo- Vernacular Architecture Approach Wahyuni Zahrah 1*, Ade Syahputra Astono1 1Architecture Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan, Indonesia. Abstract. Mount Sinabung is a volcano on the plateau of Karo Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Mount Sinabung suddenly erupted in 2010. The last eruption of the volcano occurred since February 19, 2018, and until now become an attraction to find out more about volcanic disasters. Museum Mount Sinabung is present to provide the means for education, dissemination of information in the aspect of the volcano and geological disaster with recreative and educative of nature. The problem raised was "How to design a volcano museum using the neo-vernacular architectural approach?". By applying one flow that develops in this post-modern era to revive memories of a semi-historical culture, representational, plural and eclectic cultural Agenda on to evoke the Design of Museum Mount SinabungIn the application of the neo-vernacular architectural approach to the building of the Museum, the principle of building the Siwaluh Jabu is restored, physically and non-physically.By using the qualitative method of designing the Museum, it was designed because it was rational and planned systematically with the selected location. So, the Museum is conceptualized with a flexible gallery that can be used as a shelter for refugees. Thus, it is expected that the Museum can be a recreational-educational facility and as a means of supporting disaster mitigation. Keyword: architecture, educational, museum, mount, recreational. 1.

Indonesian Journal of Geology, Vol. 8 No. 1 March 2013: 55-61 The August 2010 Phreatic Eruption of Mount Sinabung, North Sumatra Letusan Freatik Gunungapi Sinabung Agustus 2010, Sumatra Utara I. S. Sutawidjaja, O. Prambada and D. A. Siregar Geological Agency Jln. Diponegoro No. 57, Bandung, 40122 Abstract Mount Sinabung, located in Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province, is a strato volcano having four active craters. Since its latest eruption about 1,200 year ago, a phreatic eruption occurred on August th27, 2010. The eruption took place in Crater-I, which was initiated by a greyish white plume and then followed by black plumes as high as 2000 m above the crater. Altered rock fragments and ash were erupted during this event. The altered rocks show a development of argillic alterations which was formed in the hydrothermal system in depth. The alteration zone is formed along the northeast-southwest and northwest-southeast trend across the three craters. All of the craters are actively discharging solfata ric gases, of which sulphur deposits are resulted, and they have been quarried by the local people. The age of the latest magmatic eruption was dated by 14C method from the charcoal sample found in the pyroclastic flow deposits near Bekerah Village. Keywords: Mount Sinabung, phreatic eruption, argillic alteration, 14C method Sari Sinabung adalah gunung api strato yang terletak di Kabupaten Karo, Sumatra Utara, dan mempu- nyai empat kawah aktif. The approach in this study used a qualitative approach during preliminary study, design and model formulation. Quantitative approaches used when testing and validating the model. The model is developed using modifications of 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The implementation of this research is divided into three main stages which carried out for 2 years: (1) preliminary studies, empirical studies and policy studies; (2) model development; and (3) evaluation model through of pre-test and post-test. Based on the data analysis, the average value in the experimental class was 4.19 and there was a control class of 2.745. So, it can be concluded that the students’ motivation of the experimental class children is better than the control class. The results of hypothesis testing obtained t_ (count)> t_ (table) which is 20.64> 1.462 at the real level α = 0.05. Thus, the model “remang” dimly influences significantly on the motivation of children in Simacem Bekerah Elementary School No 047175after the Sinabung eruption.

  • Petrological Forensics of the Mount Sinabung, Sumatra, Indonesia Magma Reservoir Before May 2016 Dome Collapse
AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Jade Bowers for the degree of Master of Science in Geology presented on May 23, 2019. Title: Petrological Forensics of the Mount Sinabung, Sumatra, Indonesia Magma Reservoir before May 2016 Dome Collapse Abstract approved: ______________________________________________________ Shanaka L. de Silva Mount Sinabung, Sumatra, Indonesia initiated eruptive activity in 2010 with the addition of a magmatic component in 2013, after a 3 year period of quiescence. Observations of magmatic activity began with phreatomagmatic eruption starting July 2013 closely followed by extrusion of andesitic lava in December 2013. Lava effusion has persisted through the eruptive phases (December 2013 – present) with periodic dome building events with partial to complete failure of the dome and production of pyroclastic density currents (PDCs). Since a magmatic component began erupting in 2013, Mount Sinabung has been producing predominately andesite lavas that evolve in composition as the eruptive phases progress (from 57 wt% SiO2 in 2013 to 65 wt% SiO2 in 2015). In May 2016, when the lava dome collapsed and successively generated PDCs, the resulting magmatic clasts contained intermingled enclaves. This was the first reported observation of these magmatic enclaves and were thought to be evidence for magmatic recharge that may affect eruptive style and longevity of subsequent activity. This microanalytical forensic investigation was an effort to determine if magmatic enclaves from the May 2016 dome collapse were evidence of mafic recharge in the system. Petrographic analysis was used to for detailed textural description of the samples collected. Phase chemistry was collected on electron microprobe to discern multiple compositional populations of mineral constituents.
