Sneakersnstuff X ASICS X Onitsuka Tiger Introduce the 'Tailor Pack' 2015-01-15 17:35 UTC Sneakersnstuff x ASICS x Onitsuka Tiger introduce the ‘Tailor Pack’ The Sneakersnstuff x ASICS x Onitsuka Tiger ‘Tailor Pack’ is our way of dressing up. When we opened up Sneakersnstuff 16 years ago, you were not allowed to wear sneakers when you were going to a club. And we never wanted to wear anything else but sneakers. So we named our opening party “Dresscode Sneakers” and did not let people in unless they had sneakers on. The Sneakersnstuff x ASICS x Onitsuka Tiger ‘Tailor Pack’ is a nod to that era. As ASICS and Onitsuka Tiger have a long history of making the best running shoes out there, we wanted to come together and bring something a bit more dressed up to the table. The ASICS GEL-LYTE V has a nice toned down off-white midsole, an army green smooth synthetic nubuck upper with big parts in proper tweed. And just to make sure that you can match these with something, we have also made a very limited run of Sneakersnstuff x ASICS bow ties in the same tweed material. The bow tie will be included for the first lucky customers on the release date in Stockholm, London and online. The Onitsuka Tiger SHAW RUNNER comes with a nice navy pinstriped upper and smooth synthetic nubuck details in navy. We have also been able to create a nice super duper limited edition Sneakersnstuff x Onitsuka Tiger bow tie that will be included for the first customers on the release date in Stockholm, London and online. The ‘Tailor Pack’ will be released at all Sneakersnstuff locations at January 31th. Other selected retailers will sell the pack at February 7th. Well known throughout the world, Sneakersnstuff is the store that put Sweden on the sneaker map. Over the years Sneakersnstuff has been giving the opportunity to design sneakers and clothes for brands like PUMA, adidas, Converse, New Balance, Tretorn, Lacoste, Reebok and more. More information on this campaign and the “Play Fair at Olympics Campaign report itself can be found at www.fairolympics.org The report includes information on Puma Fila, Umbro, Asics, Mizuno, Lotto, Kappa, and New Balance. They have been labeled “B” brands because, in terms of their market share, they form a second rung of manufacturers in the sportswear industries, just below the market leaders or the so-called “A” brands: Nike, Reebok and Adidas. The report purposefully provides descriptions of cases of labour rights violations dating back to the middle of the nineties, so that campaigners and others have a full record of the performance and responses of the target companies to date. Also for the sake of completeness, data gathered and published in the Play Fair at the Olympics campaign report are copied in for each of the companies concerned, coupled with the build-in weblinks this provides an easy search of this web-based document.

  • Sneaker Century, Follow Sneaker Fashions and the Larger-Than-Life Personalities Behind the Best Known Athletic Shoe Brands in History
AMBER J. KEYSER SNEAKER CENTURY A HISTORY OF ATHLETIC SHOES WHETHER YOU CALL THEM KICKS OR SNEAKERS, RUNNERS OR GUTTIES, YOU PROBABLY HAVE A PAIR OF ATHLETIC SHOES IN YOUR CLOSET. The earliest sneakers debuted in the 1800s and weren’t much more than a canvas upper and a fl exible sole made of a crazy new material—rubber. For thousands of years, the indigenous peoples of the Amazon Basin of South America had been using latex made from the milky sap of hevea trees to protect their feet from rocks, sticks, and biting insects. Once Charles Goodyear fi gured out how to make the stuff more durable, sneakers were here to stay. Early sneakers were initially designed for elite athletes, but kids and teens quickly adopted them. Some of the fi rst brands included Converse, Brooks, and Saucony. German companies Adidas and Puma started up during World War II. The Nike shoe debuted in the 1970s. As fi tness crazes took off in the 1980s, people all over the world started buying the shoes for workouts and everyday wear. At about the same time, companies began hiring high-profi le athletes and pop stars for big-dollar endorsements, and shoe sales soared into billions of dollars each year. In Sneaker Century, follow sneaker fashions and the larger-than-life personalities behind the best known athletic shoe brands in history. Learn how teen sneakerheads became important style makers. Look behind the scenes at the labor- intensive process of manufacturing sneakers. Explore the sneaker frontier of the future—recycled shoes, earth-friendly initiatives, and high-fashion statements.
