Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation P a g e | 1 I.S.S.F Newsletter December 2016 The meeting has reviewed the preparations accomplished by the Organizing Committee of the Games(i.e. the Stadium and Gyms of the competitions, the Timetable of the Games, the transportation, TV Broadcasting, volunteers, the opening and closing ceremonies, the entry visas and the accreditation cards of Games). Individual meetings were also held with the representatives of NOCs to discuss the latest updates of participations such as the final number of participants and sports involved. It is worthy to mention, however, that site visits were arranged to the sport facilities of the Games during sessions of said meetings. Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation P a g e | 2 I.S.S.F Newsletter December 2016 The 4th Workshop meeting Of the Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games The 4th Workshops meeting was held in Baku, Azerbaijan on December 7, 2016 between the General Secretariat of ISSF and the Organizing Committee of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games of Baku 2017. During the meeting in Baku, results of the ANOK meeting attended earlier by both the Organizing Committee of Baku Islamic Solidarity Games and the General Secretariat of ISSF in Doha, were discussed. Other topics of importance discussed during the meeting in Baku, were (sending the Invitations Letters to all Presidents of the Governments and International Organizations to attend the Games in Baku and the attendance of HRH the president of I.S.S.F. to the unofficial launching of the Games scheduled on March 30, 2017. Issues of supporting some countries and the mechanism of accomplishing such support, attitudes of some countries in regard to the participation in the sports enlisted in the activity program of the Games, following up with the responses received from the International Sport Federations, and reviewing the technical regulations of the Games as well as the medal designs of the Games and the Chefs de Mission Seminar, were also discussed in the meeting. Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation P a g e | 3 I.S.S.F Newsletter December 2016 The 2nd Coordination Meeting to submit the file of th organizing the 5 Islamic Solidarity Games in 2021 The 2nd coordination meeting was held between the I.S.S.F. and officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sport and officials from the NOC of Turkey. The meeting was held on 22-23 December, 2016 to submit the file of hosting the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2021. The I.S.S.F. delegation to the meeting was presided by Mr. Faisal Bin Abdulaziz Al- Nassar, Secretary General of I.S.S.F. The delegation of I.S.S.F. has included the following members (Mr. Saeed Abdulghaffar, deputy Secretary General, Mr. Khalid A. Bin Al Shaykh, General Manager, Mr. Ashraf Sayed Abdullatif, official in charge of the Technical affairs and Mr. Lanny Galikuwa). From the Turkish side, there was Mr. Faruk Ozcelik, Undersecretary of Turkish Youth and Sport Ministry, Mr. Kamuran Ozden, Deputy Undersecretary of Turkish Youth and Sport Ministry, Mr. Nihat Usta, Turkish Olympic Committee Vice President and Ms. Nese Gundogan, Secretary General of the Turkish Olympic Committee. In the meeting Mr. Ozcelik, welcomed and thanked the I.S.S.F. delegation for their visit to Istanbul and confirmed the distinguished attention of His Excellency the Minister of Youth and Sport in Turkey (i.e. on behalf of the Government of Turkey) to host this important event in 2021 in Turkey and highly emphasized the importance of urging all Islamic Countries to take part in the Games. Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation P a g e | 4 I.S.S.F Newsletter December 2016 Mr. Al-Nassar thanked Mr. Ozcelik and conveyed the greetings of HRH Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad Bin Abdulaziz and expressed high appreciation and thanks to the Initiative of Turkey, represented by the Ministry of Youth and Sport and the NOC of Turkey for their interest to host the Games and praised the standards of sport facilities that he and the I.S.S.F. delegation members have visited. He also praised the role of the Government of Turkey to promote sport in its country. It is worthy mention that among other facilities that the ISSF delegation has visited in Istanbul, were (the Olympic Stadium, the Football stadiums, the indoor facilities of Volleyball as well as the Swimming pools). Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation P a g e | 5 I.S.S.F Newsletter December 2016 The ISSF International Archery Championships 2017 Dhaka Bangladesh In cooperation with the NOC committee if Bangladesh and Bangladesh Archery Federation, the ISSF is going to organize International Archery Championships 2017 in Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period 26-31 January, 2017. Official invitation has already been extended to all NOC members and the anticipated Number of participating countries is exceeding 15 countries. Mr. Kazi Chapol the ISSF Council Member and Secretary General of Bangladesh Archery Federation stated that some friendly countries, from outside the I.S.S.F. will be invited to take part in the championships in Dhaka to enable exchanging of experience in this field. He also stated that the championships thereof will be included in the program of the International Archery Federation. In this framework, this article addresses the sport labor migration, and studies the effect of globalization in Turkish sports within the relations among sponsorship, media and sports. Previous studies have discussed that religious beliefs, traditions and social barriers seriously constrain women’s participation in physical activity and sports. In Turkey, however, although there are no restrictions against the participation of women in either physical activities or sports in the legal sense, it has been reported in many scientific research-projects conducted that certain segments of the society have a negative attitude against sports. The aim of this study was to determine the history of the women’s volleyball in Turkey where confusion prevails between Easternization and Westernization. In this connection, the paper reports on how women’s volleyball has undergone a successful silent revolution and become internationally successful by overcoming religious and traditional barriers. In conclusion, the international successes of the Turkish Women’s Volleyball in spite of its short history, has not emerged as a result of a generally widespread and institutionalized volleyball culture in the country. Ever since volleyball has emerged in Turkey, it has attained permanent success with the extraordinary contributions of the Istanbul teams with large budgets, teams owned by state organizations, company teams and individuals like Selim Sırrı Tarcan, Sabbiha Rifat Erayman and members of the Eczacıbaşı family who were devoted supporters of sports, especially women’s volleyball.     Journal of Human Kinetics volume 28/2011, 165-176 DOI: 10.2478/v10078-011-0033-x 165 Section III – Sport, Physical Education & Recreation Use of New Media by Turkish Fans in Sport Communication: Facebook and Twitter by Selami Özsoy1 This research examines the use of Facebook and Twitter, two social networks, for sportive reasons in Turkey. To this end, the literature was surveyed and a 5 Likert type data collection tool consisting of 21 questions was developed by the researcher based on the expert views. The sample of the research included 460 sport fans who are college students at Abant İzzet Baysal University and Sakarya University. It was found in the research that 91.7% of the participants had a profile on Facebook and 13.3% had a profile on Twitter. The rate of opening an account on Twitter, which still has no version in Turkish language, was low. It was found that the fans mostly followed the official site of their favorite team on Facebook, got informed about the sports activities through Facebook and learned news, which they did not hear from other sources. It was also ascertained that male fans used social networks for sportive reasons more than female fans did (p<.05). It is possible to state that social networks such as Facebook and Twitter have become a rapidly-developing alternative medium in sports against traditional media such as newspaper and television. Methods: Descriptive research and comparison method, one of the models included in the qualitative approach, was used in the study. Tuva national wrestling ‘huresh’ is an old, favourite kind of sport among tuvans. It is an inseparable part of any holidays, whether they are family, national or religion. Huresh competitions are usually held during the annual celebration of such holidays, as Naadym and Shagaa (New-Year). Results: Traditional wrestling, not only is Tuva a living symbol for the cultural characteristics of society, it is also a resource that produces identity for all Turkish people (at individual and collective level). In addition, in the research, a propositional legend was used to explain the importance of ‘Huresh’ and its rituals and the musical ceremonies in which they were consumed, to suggest a continuity between social signs, to create social meaning and national identity. Conclusion: The various cultural representations of Tuva Turks directly associated with wrestling are: national power myths, moral codes regarding the knightly ideals of competition and display; the importance of male power is that it expresses consensus notions in social coding.

Possible to say that, he exaggerated little bit, but definitely sport cannot be defined as a simple physical competition. Sport has two faces. What is visible on the field, is the first and more known face of the sport, the entertainment part, but there is another world behind the field. A world that has an enormous economic and political power. In today’s world, the final of UEFA Champions League or 100 metres race of Usain Bolt, which takes even less 10 seconds to watch, or NBA Finals bring millions of people in front of their televisions all around the world or to stadiums. This is only possible by sport and when there is a huge economic market and many people in the same sphere, the intervention of the politics into this field becomes inevitable. Already sport and politics were close to each other since the ancient times, but globalization and modernization brought this relationship to another level. This is also what happened in Turkey and by the time, politics and sports were intertwined.
