HIGHETT Those who have watched the Doggies whole season could look back & realise how much effort our coaches have made to get some cohesion out of the available players left, after a huge number disappeared before round one. The four teams of 2012, became two in 2013. However all remaining players have formed two sides that have grown to understand their team mates & do the best job possible under the trying circumstances. Clayton played well above the ability of some of our players, but the Doggies stayed in both matches to the end, doing their best & fairest. The last two Senior’s results have been in our lowest margins this year, showing a good result against sides fi ghting to be in the top fi ve. The Reserves had a tougher time with third placed Clayton showing its Reserves’ strengths. We are proud of all that have taken to the ground this year & are amazed at some of our oldies, all still doing their best & even learning new skills. Former Juniors & new players are all carrying their load. Many new friendships have been forged. It is now the busy end of the year with, vote counts, presentation night, a footy trip for some and a Ball for others and for many - Doggie Club day Sunday August 18. The Annual General Meeting will need the support of a quorum and some people to volunteer to stand up and help out. We have struggled through with the smallest committee this year, so think about what extra you a friend or a family member may be able to do to support our great club. The Cocktail Party at the Elephant & Wheelbarrow was enjoyed by about 30. This week is a great chance for a win. GO DOGGIES!!!!!!!

Division 2 Preview / The Footy Tragic

ROUND 16 - Well Skye’s Finals Skye (4th) 10 wins, percentage Caulfi eld vs Bentleigh Dream still lives on. A stirring of 158%, play Moorabbin at Bentleigh should not have too victory at home against the home and Bentleigh away. Need much trouble against the Bears. Ladder Leaders Oakleigh to win both, but if they lose one, In saying that, Bentleigh has put District 2 weeks ago, followed their percentage may save them, in a couple of shockers during up by defeating Murrumbeena if Mordialloc or Murrumbeena the season and won’t want to at home last week. Once again lose a game also take Caulfi eld lightly. The Bears I failed to get it right, tipping Mordialloc (5th), 10 wins, would love to get a scalp before Murrumbeena, but I did say it percentage of 149%, play the season ends! Too close would be a tight struggle, and Springvale DIstricts away and to fi nals for Bentleigh to falter that it was! Five points was the South Yarra at home. Lose though. difference in the end. Skye has against Springvale this week, Hampton vs South Yarra moved into the Five, taking 4th will need to belt South Yarra in spot and Murrumbeena fi nds the fi nal match to ensure their Hampton should win this. South itself in sixth position, separated percentage keeps them in the Yarra will try hard and would by percentage. If Skye wins the fi nals. love to get a win on the board last two games it plays Finals! before season end, but I don’t Murrumbeena (6th), 10 wins All the other games went as think they can win the last match and a percentage of 123%, play predicted, so let’s take another at home against Mordialloc, so Oakleigh DIstrict away and then look at the last 2 games for the this is probably their last chance Hampton at home. Ideally need top 6. Can Murrumbeena get for a victory. Won’t happen to win both games, but like the back in? If so, who misses out? though, unfortunately for them. others, lose one and it’s down to Bentleigh (1st), with 12 wins and percentage! Oakleigh District vs a percentage of roughly 150%, Murrumbeena play Caulfi eld away and then Too many scenarios for me. A must win game for Skye at home. A win at Caulfi eld I can’t tip the fi nal outcome should keep them top 1 or 2, with any confi dence. Murrumbeena, their season even if they lose against Skye at Bentleigh, Oakleigh District could depend on this match. home in the last Round. and Springvale Districts will Should be a hum dinger. play fi nals, who misses out Oakleigh’s fi nals spot is not Oakleigh District (2nd), 12 wins from the last 3 is intriguing, up for grabs, but they only just and a percentage of roughly they all have a chance, I think got home against Hampton 130%, play Murrumbeena at Mordialloc should be safe, but last week and will be keen to home and Moorabbin away. Murrumbeena or Skye, I really bounce back into Premiership Danger game for Murrumbeena contention. I think Oakleigh this week, lose this and could don’t know. will win and make Round 18 be curtains. Oakleigh is no Mordialloc vs a real nail biting round for the certainty to win the fi nal game Springvale Districts Murrumbeena and Skye. against Moorabbin as they 5th place at home to 3rd. Plenty have struggled on the smaller of teams will be keen on the Skye vs Moorabbin grounds this year. Could lose outcome of this game. These Skye are taking on all comers both games but should hold a two teams should play fi nals and and are determined to hold top 5 position if they do. this game should be a cracker! I their Final 5 spot. Moorabbin Springvale Districts (3rd), 11 think Springy might get up here, should not be a major obstacle wins and a percentage of 132%, they had a percentage booster this week, but still need to be play Mordialloc at home and against South Yarra last week beaten. Moorabbin are never then Caulfi eld away. They can and Mordi struggled against “easy beats”, but Skye should afford to lose 1 and still play Bentleigh. Springvale to just maintain their rich vein of form fi nals, they should win against about sew up 3rd spot with a and will go into Round 18 still in Caulfi eld in the last match win here. the Top 5.
