The Rugby Programme The training will be complimentary to the academic programme as the main focus will still be the development of the individual. Training will focus on the practical delivery of technical, tactical, physical and mental elements of rugby and aim to place the player in a high performance and competitive environment. The rugby academy will be entering National tournaments such as the Welsh College league, the Association of Colleges League, the Welsh schools league, the Llandovery 7’s, URDD 7’s and the Rosslyn Park 7’s tournaments. The College League is the key competition to underpin the Dragon Regional U18’s competition and S4C will provide live coverage of this competition. All games and results will be promoted through the WRU, Newport Gwent Dragons and Newport High School web sites. The school is the hub for these young athletes where they begin a journey to develop their rugby talent, attain higher education qualifications and fundamentally become BETTER individuals. Combining the individual aspects of their academic studies, their rugby pro- gramme and commitments with our Dagon partners will allow players of the academy to develop an innate competitive edge, time keeping skills and good habits that are essential to survive in the professional arena. The influence Newport High and its academy programme has on the young adults of the Gwent area is fundamental in developing them as an INDIVIDUAL, them as a PLAYER and them as a TEAM Meet the Coaches Robert Sidoli - Rugby Manager Head of the rugby programme at Newport High School. Qualified teacher of Key Stage 4 PE, Key Stage 5 level 3 Sport and Level 3 Be- spoke Welsh Baccalaureate.
