Abstract: The lipid and fatty acid compositions of the muscle and liver of adult and juvenile black rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli, and that of its stomach contents were examined to clarify its lipid characteristic and the difference between aquacultured and wild samples. Triacylglycerols were the dominant depot lipids of all samples, while phospholipids, such as phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylcholine, were found to be the major components in the polar lipids. The cultured juvenile and young samples had high levels of 18:2n- 6 (linoleic acid, 5.0% and 4.0–5.9% for TAG of juvenile and young samples) with low levels of 22:6n-3 (docosahexaenoic acid: DHA, 9.7% and 3.3–6.7% for TAG of juvenile and young samples), whereas the adults (both cultured and wild) had only trace levels of 18:2n-6 (0.6–1.3% and 1.0–1.3% for TAG of cultured and wild samples) with noticeable levels of DHA (3.3–19.7% and 5.2–11.9% for TAG of cultured and wild samples). Similar to the fatty acid profiles in TAG of both cultured and wild adult samples, those in the phospholipids of both the samples were very similar to each other. -

All the monogeneans registered are associated with 363 vertebrate host taxa, and distributed in 498 localities pertaining to 29 of the 32 states of the Mexican Republic. Th e checklist contains updated information on their hosts, habitat, and distributional records. We revise the species list according to current schemes of KEY WORDS classifi cation for the group. Th e checklist also included the published records in the last 11 years, Platyhelminthes, Mexico, since the latest list was made in 2006. We also included taxon mentioned in thesis and informal distribution, literature. As a result of our review, numerous records presented in the list published in 2006 were Actinopterygii, modifi ed since inaccuracies and incomplete data were identifi ed. Even though the inventory of the Elasmobranchii, Anura, monogenean fauna occurring in Mexican vertebrates is far from complete, the data contained in our Testudines. -

Wash. 49(2), 1982, pp. 314-317 Research Note Parasites of Bocaccio, Sebastes paucispinis, from Southern and Central California From January 1976 to September 1981, 29 species of parasites were collected from 145 bocaccio, Sebastes paucispinis, taken off the coast of southern and central California. Bocaccio is the most important rockfish in California, com- prising approximately 35^0% of the annual commercial rockfish catch (Fitch, 1974, Offshore Fishes of California. Calif. Dep. Fish and Game). Many of the parasites are quite visible to commercial fishermen, sportsmen, and fish-market customers. Tapeworms emerging from the anus, coiled nematodes in the viscera, and puslike material exuding from ruptured protozoan cysts in fillets are unap- petizing and aesthetically displeasing. Heavily infected fish are sometimes dis- carded altogether, and are considered unsafe to eat. The present study was un- dertaken primarily to ascertain which species of parasites were most obvious to laymen, but efforts were made to identify all parasites encountered. To date there have been no comprehensive surveys on the parasites of bocaccio from Califor- nia, although Sekerak and Arai (1977, Syesis 10:139-144) reported the helminths and copepods of this fish from Canadian waters. The parasites collected consisted of seven species of protozoa, 18 species of helminths, and four species of crustaceans (Table 1). The parasites most con- spicuous to commercial and sport fishermen were Kudoa dupeidae, Paraboth- riocephalus sagitticeps, Anisakis simplex, Phocanema decipiens, and Lafystius sp. Cysts of K. dupeidae were located in the skeletal muscle and were easily ruptured when fish were filleted. The contents have the appearance of thick pus, and the presence of numerous cysts makes the fillets difficult to sell. -

We list 61 species representing 13 genera within 4 families and 2 orders of aspidogastreans associated with 298 species of invertebrate and vertebrate hosts. The majority of records include bivalves (44% of the total number of host-parasite associations), whereas records from bony fishes represent 32% of host-parasite associations.
