On July 1, 2013 Councilman Curren D, Price Jr. became the 17th person elected to the representing the 9th Council District.

The boundaries of the New 9th consist of LA, Live on the North, Normandie Ave on the West, 95th street on the South and Alameda on the East. The district includes: Staples Center, LA, Mart, USC, Orthopaedic Institute for Children, the Coliseum, and Exposition Park with its world-class museums, sport facilities, recreational areas, Science Center and the Rose Garden,

His primary focus for the 9th is improving the quality of life for all residents in the district. This includes community beautification, safety, economic development, and youth empowerment. On the City Council he chairs the Economic Development Committee, and also serves on Housing, Public Works, the Arts and Parks Committees,

His previous public experience includes service in the Legislature representing the state's 26th Senate District and representing the 51st Assembly District.

Mr. Prices State Legislative committee assignments included Chair of Senate Committee on Business, Professions, and Economic Development; and Chair of Assembly Government Organizations committee, He also served as Chair of The California Legislative Black Caucus (CLBC) where he helped increase the number of African American State Legislators to nine, the highest number since the CLBCwas founded in 1967, In the Legislature, Councilman Price earned a reputation as a thoughtful, principled, effective leader, and a champion for workers, small businesses and innovation,

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Price attended school in the 9th district before his family moved to Inglewood, There he graduated from Morningside High, and earned a scholarship to Stanford University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, He later graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Santa Clara, School of Law, Upon graduation from law school, Price worked for an Export Management firm which sold industrial products in the Middle and Far East. He later relocated to Washington D,C" where he was active for ten years in the satellite communication industry, As an advocate for minority enterprise; he was a frequent speaker at conferences sponsored by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce,

In 1989 he returned to California, and served as a deputy to two members of the Los Angeles City Council. He later became the Southern California Coordinator for a statewide association that provided training to assist community-based organizations develop commercial real estate projects in South Los Angeles, He also has lifetime teaching credentials for Adult Education and the California Community Colleges, Prior to serving in the California Legislature, Councilman Price was a ten year member of the Inglewood City Council. He has also been a business owner and consultant (for domestic and international transactions) with the Small Business Development Center of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Throughout his tenure as a public official, Curren D. Price, Jr. has received numerous honors in recognition of his legislation and advocacy on behalf of students, working families, small businesses, the arts and international trade. In 2012 he received the "Peace Leadership Award" by the Center for African Peace and Conflict. And since 2007, he has been recognized as "Legislator of the Year" by various groups and organizations including the University of California Student Association, the West Basin Municipal Water District, Southern California Apartment Owners Association, California Communications Association, California Physical Therapy Association and the California Small Business Association. Dear Honorable Price:

I am pleased to inform you that I hereby appoint you to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission. To begin the appointment process, please review, sign and return the enclosed Remuneration Form within one week of receiving this letter.

Under separate cover you will be receiving a packet from the City Ethics Commission containing information about the City's conflict of interest laws and a copy of the State Form 700/Statement of Economic Interests. You are required to complete and return this form within 21 days of the date of this letter to the City Ethics Commission, 200 North Spring Street, City Hall, 24th Floor, Los Angeles, California 90012. Any inquiries regarding this form should be directed to Shannon Prior at the Ethics Commission at (213) 978-1960.

As part of the City Council confirmation process, you will need to meet with Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell, Chair of the Arts, Parks, Health, Aging and River Committee, to answer any questions he may have. You will be hearing from a City Council committee clerk who will let you know when your appointment will be considered by the Arts, Parks, Health, Aging and River Committee. Some time thereafter, you will be notified by the committee clerk when your appointment will be presented to the full City Council for confirmation. Once you are confirmed, you will be required to take the oath of office in the City Clerk's Office in Room 395 of City Hall. Cary Gross with the Mayor's staff will assist you during the confirmation process if you have questions.

File the following forms with the City Ethics Commission. If you are required to file, you will receive these forms in the mail from that office.

__ Statement of Economic Interest ("Form 700") IMPORTANT: The City Council will not consider your nomination until your completed form is reviewed by the Ethics Commission.

__ CEC Form 60 iii. As soon as possible, the Mayor's Office will schedule a meeting with you and:
