GUIDED BY VOICES "Propeller" (SCAT) SCAT49 LP/ /CASS/ CD March 19 street date. "Propeller" was the fifth by Guided By Voices, and was intended to be the group's last. Released as a limited edition of 500 LPs in 1992, the album featured handmade covers and blank labels to keep expenses as low as possible. Their other hadn’t sold much, why would this one? As fate would have it, the band wound up releasing an album chock full of gems Pollard had stockpiled, and for the first time sounded distinctly like the band that fans have since come to love. "Propeller" also marks the return of Tobin Sprout to the GBV fold, along with an increased songwriting presence. "Propeller" is a hell of a ride, and remains one of the most important albums in the band's discography. The vinyl edition has been out of print for a decade, and features different cover art than previous pressings. The CD edition has been out of print as well, and is now housed in digipak format, also with a new, unique cover from one of the original pressings. And for the first time, "Propeller" is available on cassette. HEY, KING! "Hey, King!" (ANTI) 87702 LP/ CD April 2 street date. There's a sense of wonder that permeates throughout every song indie rock band Hey, King! has written. Canadian , vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Natalie and her partner, Tucson vocalist and percussionist Taylor Plecity, approach music with a childlike curiosity and adventurous spirit - fitting for a band whose name comes from a "Where the Wild Things Are" line. Their 2020 debut EP ‘Be Still’ was raved by Under the Radar Mag as "heartfelt indie rock" with songs that showcased "London and Plecity's ability to turn tragedy into an exuberant celebration of life and love". But now, the band finally follows it all up with their highly- anticipated self-titled debut LP. Produced by 4x Grammy winner Ben Harper, "Hey, King!" is a dazzling 11-track collection that matches the overwhelming emotional inten sity of the band's live show, a concert experience that Vancouver Weekly called "a powerhouse" and "quite possibly the music world's best kept secret". SPOON "" (MATADOR) OLE1552CD CD SPOON "Gimme Fiction" (MATADOR) OLE1552LP LP SPOON "Gimme Fiction (MATADOR) OLE1552LP2 LP (red/white indie shop version)" March 26 street date. Spoon's classic "Gimme Fiction" pressed onto limited red and white vinyl. Recorded throughout 2004 at 's Public Hifi studio in Austin with the production help of Mike McCarthy (...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead), "Gimme Fiction", Spoon's fifth full-length, is the sound of a band who, having long since found their own voice, were making the catchiest, most confident rock'n'roll of any group on the planet. Though there are still echoes of some of 's influences, "Gimme Fiction" is a sprawling, exhilarating, filler-free album of keenly focused artistic vision and ambition. Features the hit single "," as well as other tracks included on the recent greatest hits ": The Best of Spoon". Nothing short of a dizzying, soulful masterpiece, easily the most expansive work in their career. TUNE-YARDS "sketchy." (4AD) 4AD0309CD CD TUNE-YARDS "sketchy." (4AD) 4AD0309LP LP TUNE-YARDS "sketchy. (indie shop (4AD) 4AD0309LPE LP version/blue)" March 26 street date. Tune-Yards' fifth studio album, "sketchy.", will be available on CD, translucent blue and standard black vinyl On "sketchy." Merrill balances self-inspection and reflection with bombastic rallying cries, reminiscent of the furious tones of early days Tune-Yards. Inspired by the Beastie Boys Book and Questlove's Creative Quest, the result is a colourful and joyous record with lyrics that cut to the bone. "I started remembering that people come to us to be entertained, to move, to feel joy. And together, I think, we can wake up." From 2009 to 2018, Tune-Yards (both Merrill and her partner and collaborator Nate Brenner) released four critically acclaimed albums, travelled the world relentlessly to play live shows, and composed the psychedelic score to Boots Riley's surrealist cinematic masterpiece "Sorry To Bother You". This is the first Xiu Xiu album where every song spotlights Jamie Stewart and a collaborator. COHEN, TIM "You Are Still Here" (BOBO BBI020 LP March 26 street date. At this point, Tim Cohen is something akin to a Songwriter Laureate of . He has observed from his attic window as wave after wave of musical trend has visited upon the Pacific shores, only to wash back into the ether. “You are Still Here” is a taut, suspenseful collection of dynamic, timeless songs. Ranging from the reluctantly hopeful Rhodes-driven gospel of “Rage On” to the psychedelic kraut bombast of “Dadaist Friend”, the album was recorded over three week-long sessions at Crown Lanes (Denver, CO) with Cohen’s longtime collaborator James Barone (Beach House) behind the boards and the drum kit. Handing over production duties to Barone allowed the full range of both artists’ talents to shine, and the result is polished and sonically satisfying, yet somehow still slightly deranged and “outsider”. Cohen’s vocal melodies have never been stronger, now bolstered by horn flourishes (Andrew Byars) and the lush choral vocals of Noelle Fiore (Magic Trick). Dramatic choruses give way to pensive quietude with ease, and the journey is narrated expertly by the various keyboards of Connor Birch (Flaural). Barone’s keen ear and Cohen’s more focused songwriting approach are a magical marriage. The result “You are Still Here”, is a great opportunity for us to return to the art of album listening. CORONADOS "Dinintel et Tonuvital (MONOTONE) MT040LP LP 1982-1990" March 26 street date. Without any doubt, Les Coronados is the France’s best band of the 80s! A perfect mix of wild garage, offbeat influences (for the times) like Alex Chilton, Kevin Ayers, or Harry Nilsson, and French twisted 60s pop, all done in their own original and even eccentric style: savage but well read, loose but subtle. This album compiles their first two impossible-to-find EPs plus unreleased material and original songs and covers (Sonics, Beefheart, Equals, Kinks, Spirit ) they gave at the time to various compilations, from their ultra-wild, fast, trashy and drenched in reverb beginnings to their more sophisticated but still rocking later stuff. A must have for garage lovers and literate rockers, this is the first time these songs see the light of day since the eighties! Buy it now or you´ll be eternally sorry! First time on vinyl compilation of rare stuff by France cult garage band of the 80s, a record for wild twisters and well-read rockers! EXEK "Biased Advice" (CASTLE FACE) CF128 CD EXEK "Biased Advice" (CASTLE FACE) CF128LP LP March 5 street date. Reissue of the debut release from Australian post-punk band EXEK, originally issued on Another Dark Age in 2016. Wonderful production lends itself to this unique LP. It seems as if the room expands and contracts throughout songs. Pulling away, then blocking your field of vision entirely. Wasteland funk. Dub from the depths. Punk from the pit. For fans of BEAK>, Phantom Band, PiL, Jah Wobble, Magazine, ESG, etc. HARDING, ALDOUS "Aldous Harding" (FLYING NUN) FN566CD CD Available now. Price reduction. HARDING, ALDOUS "Aldous Harding" (FLYING NUN) FN566LP LP Available now. Vinyl repress of the 2014 debut album from Aldous Harding. Harding's songs are not for the faint of heart. Disarming in their desolate imagery and vulnerable instrumentation, they deal with the raw materials of life: birth, death, love and grief. Sometimes reminiscent of 60s-era folk singers Vashti Bunyan and Linda Perhacs, Harding's work lies in more harsh terrain than her forebears - piercing the long history of the genre with a grit and sincerity rarely encountered. Based in New Zealand's Southern port town of Lyttelton, Auckland-born Harding began playing to the public in small-town venues and busking on the streets. It wasn't long before her name became synonymous with both the vivid devastation of her wordplay and the stark intensity of her performance; a unique blend of fragility and sinewy, world-won strength that belies her youth. HAYLEY AND THE "Fun Sized (EP)" (RUM BAR) RUM091 CD CRUSHERS February 19 street date. 2020 wasn't "fun" by any measure, but that didn't stop California's Hayley and the Crushers from bringing their sunniest, most infectious tunes to the world. Sticky hooks, surfy beats and soda-fueled sing- along moments ensued, transforming living rooms into dance floors, bedrooms into beach parties. Featuring a half dozen of the band's best 2020 hits spanning never before collected onto one high fidelity coaster-shaped compact disc! Comes with handsome mini poster! IAN SWEET "Show Me How You (POLYVINYL) PRC428 CASS/ /CD/ LP Disappear (clear blue vinyl)" March 5 street date. Mesmeric and kaleidoscopic, shimmering with electrified unease, "Show Me How You Disappear" is both an exercise in self-forgiveness and an eventual understanding of unresolved trauma. Jilian Medford's third record as Ian Sweet unfolds at an acute juncture in her life, charting from a mental health crisis to an intensive healing process and what comes after. Recorded with Andrew Sarlo (Big Thief, Empress Of) and Andy Seltzer (Maggie Rogers), among others, Medford approached this album as a curator. She handpicked the producers that fit each song, which explains the range and experimentation showcased. Dizzying and enthralling, "Show Me How You Disappear" is the sound of someone coming apart and putting themselves back together - the moment an old mantra, repeated into the mirror time and time again, finally clicks. To look at your reflection, and finally feel seen. JANTAR "Sempronia" (FEEDING TUBE) FTR544LP LP February 26 street date. Brooklyn quintet Jantar release Sempronia on Feeding Tube Records. Deeply involved in the legendary Sunview Luncheonette scene, the roots of Jantar lie in a nameless experimental duo formed by Chad Laird and Tianna Kennedy in 2005 or so, but this duo has evolved into a working band with two distinct creative strategies. Reminiscent of Canterbury classicism (Soft Machine, Hatfield & Gong) as well as certain West Coast underground of the early '80s (Monitor, Romans, Fibinaccis). JOHNSTON, JAMES & "We Travel Time" (GOD GOD073 LP STEVE GULLIC March 5 street date. James Johnston (Gallon Drunk/Nick Cave/PJ Harvey) and Steve Gullick (renowned music photographer) are pleased to announce their new album. It's a dark but beautiful trip. After working together on an art show in late 2019, the idea of making music again immediately resurfaced. Without any firm strategy, Johnston and Gullick began recording, unprompted, drawing upon a shared love of noise, folk, and classical. After the first tracks began to evolve, however, they knew they'd unearthed something compelling and fresh, not to mention unexpectedly mysterious. This became "We Travel Time". The result is a deceptively crafted album that slowly reveals - and, more importantly, embraces - beauty in its cracks. Piano, voice, violin and guitar create a drifting haze, with the focus on these acoustic elements forging an imagined soundtrack which offers echoes of Big Star, Nico, Lee Hazlewood and Palace Brothers, as well as the gentle, haunting influence of contemporary minimal classical. LUMERIANS "Fuzz Club Session (180g)” (FUZZ CLUB FCS16LP LP March 5 street date. Up until disbanding last year announced via a post saying they "were off to get some smokes", Oakland cosmonauts Lumerians were one of the most prolific and genre-bending bands to reside on the outer edges of contemporary . Since their formation 2006 they went on to tour around the world and share the stage with everyone from My Bloody Valentine to Killing Joke and Black Moth Super Rainbow. Constantly evolving, their sound has been known to journey from synthesised ambient excursions to far-out space- rock and kosmische post-punk, often dabbling with touches of dub, free and the works. What might very well be the final Lumerians LP comes in the shape of a new live session recorded for Fuzz Club Records when the band stopped off in London as part of a European tour in 2019. Recorded live at Love Buzz Productions and pressed to 180g vinyl, Lumerians' Fuzz Club Session LP is comprised of four tracks. Limited to 300 copies. MT. MOUNTAIN "Centre" (FUZZ CLUB FC141CD CD MT. MOUNTAIN "Centre (180g-grey)” (FUZZ CLUB FC141V12 LP March 5 street date. Hailing from Perth, Australia, Mt. Mountain deal in a sprawling, sound that journeys between tranquil, drone-like meditations and raucous, full-throttle wig-outs that'll blow your mind as much as your speakers. Taking cues from pioneers like Neu! and Can whilst existing in a similar world to contemporaries like Moon Duo, Kikagaku Moyo and Minami Deutsch, Mt. Mountain are formidable torchbearers of the minimal-is-maximal tradition. Musically, the band's sound is born out of long improvised jams so naturally much of the album was recorded live to capture the band at their most freewheeling. With a number of EPs and singles and three albums behind them, the quintet have picked up a formidable reputation in their homeland and further afield, thanks especially to their wildly all-consuming live shows. Vinyl is limited to 400 copies. CD is limited to 300 copies. RAVAN, GENYA/THE "I Who Have (RUM BAR) RUM087C 7" SHANG HI LOS Nothing/Sway Little Player (clear vinyl)" RAVAN, GENYA/THE "I Who Have (RUM BAR) RUM087W 7" SHANG HI LOS Nothing/Sway LittlePlayer (white vinyl)" February 19 street date. Includes a download card to both tracks, plus a bonus track from Genya Ravan plus The Shang Hi Los' debut EP release "Kick It Like A Wicked Bad Habit". URDOG "Long Shadows: 2003- (ROCKET LAUNCH207 LP 2006 (gold vinyl)" March 12 street date. "Long Shadows", the new Urdog retrospective on Rocket Recordings, is the work of a mercurial band whose music may have been summoned from fog and ghosts, yet possesses considerable staying power beyond their brief time on the planet. "We were influenced by the horror of late-capitalism in general every day", says drummer and vocalist Erin Rosenthal, "This glued and glues us together, also love of bicycles, french fries and faerie folk. Big influences for me were Robert Wyatt, Incredible String Band, Dagmar Krause, but especially This Heat, Riot Grrrl and 90s hardcore". From such disparate inspiration came psychically heavy jams and wild improvisational voyages from this triumvirate which chart an instinctive and wild journey, drawing the interplanetary dots between early 70s freak-flag-waving transgressions and the folk-tinged frontiers of the early 21st century US underground. Mantric repetition, ceremonial ambience, and fuzz/wah tinged blowouts take equal prominence in this dreamlike realm. V/A "Rebel Rousers" (RUM BAR) RUM089 CD February 19 street date. "Rebel Rousers" is a collection of Rum Bar Records artists performing, writing or otherwise making art inspired by alt-punk, heartland-punk, alt-country, heart-on-sleeve, out-of-the- 'n' roll. Tends to inhabit and play said music loudly in hole in the wall dive bars. "Rebel Rousers" is general enjoyed best with a warm beer and cold shot in a corner at a neighborhood watering hole. VACANT LOTS "Interzone (incl. Cold (FUZZ CLUB FC132V12R LP Cave remix 7-inch)" March 5 street date. 'Interzone' is the third full-length from Brooklyn post-punk duo The Vacant Lots. Following its release last summer and quick sell-out, the LP is now getting a second pressing. Picking up high praise from the likes of , BBC 6Music, Henry Rollins, Loud & Quiet, Uncut, Brooklyn Vegan, Line of Best Fit and countless others, the album is a genre-blending synthesis of dance and psych that's made for secluded listeners and all-night partygoers. Includes an exclusive 7" featuring a remix of ‘Into The Depths’ by darkwave trailblazer Cold Cave. 180g ultra-clear vinyl with black splatter and bonus black remix 7". Limited to 400 copies. WEAVER, JANE "Flock" (FIRE) FIRECD544 CD WEAVER, JANE "Flock (light rose (FIRE) FIRELP544 LP coloured vinyl)" WEAVER, JANE "Flock (indie exclusive- (FIRE) FIRELP544W LP cream vinyl)" March 12 street date. ‘Flock’ is the record that Jane Weaver always wanted to make, the most genuine version of herself, complete with unpretentious Day-Glo pop sensibilities, wit, kindness, humour and glamour. A consciously positive vision for negative times, a brooding and ethereal creation. The album features an untested new fusion of seemingly unrelated compounds fused into an eco-friendly hum; for post-new-normal times. Created from elements that should never date, it's pop music reinvented. Still prevalent are the cosmic sounds, but ‘Flock’ is a natural rebellion to the recent releases which sees her decidedly move away from conceptual roots in favour of writing pop music. Produced on a complicated diet of bygone Lebanese torch songs, 1980s Russian Aerobics records and Australian Punk. The musician's exposure to an abundance of lost records served as a reminder that you still feel like an outsider in this world and that by overcoming fears you can achieve artistic freedom. Jane Weaver continues to metamorphise. Exclusive >> METAL/PROG/PSYCH/ >>

ACID MAMMOTH "Acid Mammoth" (HEAVY PSYCH HPS153 CD ACID MAMMOTH "Acid Mammoth" (HEAVY PSYCH HPS153LP LP ACID MAMMOTH "Acid Mammoth (ltd (HEAVY PSYCH HPS153LTD LP yellow vinyl)" ACID MAMMOTH "Acid Mammoth (ultra ltd (HEAVY PSYCH HPS153SLTD LP blue & red splatter vinyl)" March 26 street date. We are extremely happy to announce that our 2017 self-titled debut album is getting pressed for the first time ever on Vinyl and CD! “Acid Mammoth” is coming out March 12th 2021 via Heavy Psych Sounds Records! “Acid Mammoth” was recorded late 2016 – early 2017 at Descent Studio while drums were recorded at Wudsound Studio. The album was initially released digitally in October 2017 via Bandcamp and introduced us to the beloved Doom scene. This album has a really special place in our hearts because it represents the birth of Acid Mammoth. It is our coming together and it bears the enthusiasm of our first ever recording. More raw and more monolithic in its essence than the albums that followed, “Acid Mammoth” is a doom metal album with lots of heart and tremendous excitement. Three years after its initial release, the time has come for its physical release in both vinyl and CD by Heavy Psych Sounds Records, with a killer new artwork by Branca Studio. ACID MAMMOTH "Caravan" (HEAVY PSYCH HPS156 CD ACID MAMMOTH "Caravan" (HEAVY PSYCH HPS156LP LP ACID MAMMOTH "Caravan (ltd blue vinyl)" (HEAVY PSYCH HPS156LTD LP ACID MAMMOTH "Caravan (ultra ltd red & (HEAVY PSYCH HPS156SLTD LP black splatter vinyl)" March 26 street date. “Caravan” is the band’s upcoming third full-length album. It is the direct successor to last year’s “Under Acid Hoof” and the fourth release of the band with Heavy Psych Sounds Records. It was conceived, recorded and produced during a state of total lockdown due to Covid-19, therefore it greatly reflects our mood during these dark times. It is a heavy, sublime and pitch black journey into the vast unknown. Like all of our previous works, “Caravan” was recorded, mixed and mastered with Dionysis Dimitrakos of Descent Studio in Athens, while drums were recorded at Ignite Studio. The artwork was once again crafted by Branca Studio. It is a witchy album for witchy ears, a heavy opus that has emerged straight from the deepest abyss. Once again the father and son duo on guitars offer the listener a horde of crushing, fuzzy, Iommi riffs while the mammoth bass tears down everything in its path with its acid hooves. Its drums are thundering unearthly beats of harrowing doom while its mesmerizing vocals will bewitch you with their words of woe. Heavier and more diverse than its predecessor, “Caravan” is here to tear you down with its acid tusks. Prepare to be doomed!!! KICKIN VALENTINA "The Revenge Of Rock" (SPV) SPV1186411 LP KICKIN VALENTINA "The Revenge Of Rock" (SPV) SPV1186412 CD February 5 street date. Kickin Valentina plays loud unapologetic rock 'n' roll. Their new album "The Revenge of Rock" was once again produced by Andy Reilly (UFO, Bruce Dickinson, Cradle of Filth) at Muse Productions in Atlanta, and mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Sabaton, Halford). Kickin Valentina formed in 2013, and the band quickly gained attention in the U.S. and abroad. They were immediately picked up by Atlanta based indie label Highway9 Records and released their debut self-titled EP in October 2013. MAGNUM "Dance Of The Black (STEAMHAMM 243471 LP Tattoo (2LP)" MAGNUM "Dance Of The Black (STEAMHAMM 243472 CD Tattoo" February 5 street date. "Dance Of The Black Tattoo" is a collection of songs that present Magnum exclusively as tough-as-nails rocking and extremely vibrant musicians. What makes this album so special is the fact that Magnum have gone through their impressive archive, looking for rare live cuts and outstanding radio versions, and have come up with spirited live recordings and edits that concentrate on the essential components of some of their most accomplished rock numbers. MIDWIFE "Like Author, Like (FLENSER) FR115 LP Daughter (2LP)" March 5 street date. On the heels of Midwife's 2020 sophomore album, "Forever", The Flenser is pleased to offer a new vinyl edition of her debut "Like Author, Like Daughter", remastered as a double LP in a gatefold jacket. "Like Author, Like Daughter" is a portrait of Madeline Johnston's final year as a resident of Denver's famed DIY venue Rhinoceropolis, which closed in a rash of politically motivated assaults on creative spaces across the . The album internalizes loss, addiction, and abandonment and wrings them through distorted power chords, melancholy leads, and sheets of drone to create building, aching monuments to past-selves and lost relationships as positivist statements of resilience and self-love. It's a record that is impossible to listen to without a lump in the throat.

Madfish are proud to unveil "Songlife", a 6LP vinyl deluxe box set housing all 5 of Nirvana's pioneering studio albums alongside the never before released 1972 LP "Secrets". Nirvana were essentially the duo of Irishman Patrick Campbell-Lyons and Greek Alex Spyropoulos - who, following a chance meeting in London during the summer of 1966, took a long, strange trip together. It's the first time the band's recorded output has ever been collated together on one release and is an engrossing body of work to explore. These albums sit comfortably with some of the other great works of the time - The Zombies, The Kinks and The Pretty Things included. All the albums have been remastered for this release. The box also includes a 52 page 12" book with liner notes, discography, and ephemera and an individually signed print by Spyropoulos and Campbell-Lyons. PUTHLI, ASHA "The Devil Is Loose" (MR BONGO) MRBCD222 CD PUTHLI, ASHA "The Devil Is Loose" (MR BONGO) MRBLP222 LP PUTHLI, ASHA "The Devil Is Loose (MR BONGO) MRBLP222P LP (indie exclusive-pink vinyl)" March 12 street date. We can't think of many artists that have had as diverse a career and who have been involved in as many different genres of music as Asha Puthli. A musical pioneer who forged a path through 60s psych, free- jazz, pop, rock, , and more. Asha's 1976 album "The Devil Is Loose" is maybe her most well-known record. Featuring the beautiful disco-funk-classic "Space Talk", Asha's ethereal soaring vocals take us on a journey that almost mirrors her eclectic career. The track was championed by a wide-range of musical scenes and movements, and over space and time it has been commandeered as their own. You would hear it played by David Mancuso at the now mythical underground party "The Loft", in the most discerning disco nightclubs across the globe, in the scene, and also being sampled by hip-hop heavyweights such as The Notorious B.I.G./P. Diddy, and The Pharcyde. SAHM, DOUG "Hell Of A Spell" (RETROWORLD) FLOATLP6409 LP March 5 street date. The late great Doug Sahm was born in San Antonio, Texas. He was a child prodigy in but became a significant figure in and other genres as well. Sahm is considered one of the most important figures in what is identified as Tex Mex music. Proficient on multiple instruments, he was the founder and leader of the 1960s band, the Sir Douglas Quintet. He would later co-found the Texas Tornados with Augie Meyers, Freddy Fender, and Flaco Jimenez as well as Los Super Seven. "Hell Of A Spell" was recorded at the end of the 1970s, and was originally released in the UK in 1980 trying to ride the then New Wave scene. SOLER, TOTI "Toti Soler" (MUNSTER) MR413 LP March 19 street date. Like a long drag of hashish in the morning when the alarm clock rings in the open air, the synthesis that works in this album is aromatic, hypnotic, luminescent… somewhere between Hispalis and the Catalan Mediterranean. Spanish guitar and flamenco metonymies flourish on this transitional instrumental work that ablutions in flamenco waters, scented with folk- salts. This 1973 album is seminal in creating flamenco fusion. The arid but magnetic notes of the first track on the album, ‘Sardana Flamenca’ delve deeper into the subconscious, which Soler recorded on his own with his Spanish guitar, except the electric pieces where members of the band OM helped out. Reissued on vinyl for the first time. Includes an insert with notes and a rare Toti Soler photo. TEASPOON AND THE "Teaspoon And The (MR BONGO) MRBCD225 CD WAVES Waves" TEASPOON AND THE "Teaspoon And The (MR BONGO) MRBLP225 LP WAVES Waves" March 12 street date. Official replica re-issue of a South African jazz-funk rarity from Teaspoon And The Waves. Released in 1977 on Pop, a subsidiary label of Mavuthela Music Company/Gallo, Teaspoon And The Waves' self-titled album is an absolute masterpiece. Best known for the song "Oh Yeh Soweto", which is an astonishing adaptation of Lamont Dozier's anthem "Going Back to My Roots", this track has become a contemporary underground club classic in recent times and has been featured in sets from a cross-section of DJs. With such a massive calling card song, it could be easy to write off the album as a typical one-tracker (like so many records often are), but that is a long way from the truth. Each of the remaining four tracks are super strong. Saxophonist Teaspoon Ndlela has had an amazing and rich musical career. Releasing albums on records labels Soul Jazz Pop, Hit Special, Gallo GRC, alongside working with and writing for South African artists such as Mpharanyana, Stimela, Sipho Gumede and Sgu. He also features on the Paul Simon track "Gumboots", taken from the iconic "Graceland" project. TOREADORS "Thembi/Gwinyitshe" (MR BONGO) MRB7172 7" March 26 street date. This 1972 recording by The Toreadors, a one-off session group, was produced by Ray Nkwe who worked as an independent producer for several different companies and was responsible for organising many African jazz-oriented sessions in the 1970s and early 80s. On first hearing the A-side ‘Thembi’ (written by Ray Nkwe) you'll wonder why you haven't heard this song before, but simultaneously be struck with a sense of instant familiarity. It has a loose floating jazz vibe with echoes of 60s hippy, -jazz qualities, and elements that remind us of acts such as The Deirdre Wilson Tabac. The vocal deliveries are stunning, hauntingly beautiful, and from a place where it is hard to pinpoint just where this song originates. The B-side, ‘Gwinyitshe‘, is also absolute fire. This song has gained more coverage and notoriety among South African music fans/collectors and DJs over the years. It is a deep, pulsing soul-jazz-funk groove with another exceptional vocal performance that is relaxed yet engaging and spiritual, whilst managing to surf the instrumentation to perfection. WITCH "Introduction (original (NOW-AGAIN) NA5200 LP private press version)" February 19 street date. Archival reissue of the private-press, first issue of the album that launched the movement in 1972. Completely different recordings of the songs from the better-known Music Parlour album. N'Dea Davenport was now fronting the group as their guest singer, and the brilliant string of singles from their debut album were becoming locked in the minds of an ever growing fan base. "Shibuya 357: Live In Tokyo" is the quintessential (and only live) document of an era that quickly passed. Ever since he released his music in the early '80s (1983, to be exact), Michel Banabila has been hard to pinpoint to a specific genre or style. Instead of archiving early works from the 1980s, Wah-Wah Whispers focuses on Banabila's more recent output. She juxtaposes these with arrangements of folk songs from Haiti, the first independent Black nation and the homeland of her parents, tapping into the nuances of Black experience. McCalla’s music elegantly weaves Haitian influences together with American folk music, just as Hughes incorporated Black vernacular into his remarkable poetry, and the way the Haitian Kreyòl is a beacon for the survival of African identity through the brutal legacy of colonialism. This is music of reclamation, imbued with a quiet power that grapples with the immense weight of history. On Gateway Summer Sounds, her debut album released on Folkways in 1979 and recorded at the legendary Princeton–Columbia Center, she sources sounds from the natural world — frogs, insects, field recordings from the Gateway National Recreation Area in New York Harbor — along with gongs, bells, and a harpsichord to conceive remarkable, hypnagogic compositions. Like the music of Daphne Oram and Pauline Oliveros, her compositions for tape have been overshadowed by those of her male counterparts, but her work is no less revolutionary or vital. His songs are the epitome of folk storytelling in the modern era, as he interweaves histories with field recordings from the sites of collective trauma and fragments of Asian American musical tradition, from jazz to rock, to choral music). BROKAW, CHRIS "Puritan" (12XU) 12XU1221 LP Available now. Chris Brokaw is the consummate underground rock musician. In a career spanning thirty-plus years he has been in countless bands (Come, Charnel Ground, Codeine, and The Lemonheads to name a few), has been a sideman with everyone from Thurston Moore to GG Allin, pounded countless stages on nonstop tours, and played on over seventy recordings. "Puritan" is his tenth solo album and it's a killer. From the hypnotic repetition on the extended instrumental outro of title-track opener 'Puritan', the wounded grace of 'Depending,' to the fragile beauty of the Velvets-esque duet with Claudia Groom, 'I'm the Only One for You,' and the ghost of Alex Chilton echoing through 'The Bragging Rights,' onto the GBV-like firestorm of 'Periscope Kids,' and ending with the "On The Beach"-era Neil Young minimal strum of his cover of Karl Hendricks’ 'The Night Has No Eyes,' Brokaw has crafted an understated masterpiece. "Viva! La Woman (180g- (MUSIC ON MOVLP1698C LP transparent red vinyl)" March 5 street date. Cibo Matto was a Japanese-American band formed by and in New York in 1994. Their debut album "Viva! La Woman" is the only album to be released by them as a duo, before , Timo Ellis and Duma Love joined the band. It therefore also sounds quite different from the rest of the Cibo Matto catalogue: the album is best described as a trip hop fused with pop and alternative hiphop, and its lyrical subject matter is mostly concerned with food. The album was critically acclaimed by music critics, whom labeled it innovative and catchy. The record is released as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on transparent red coloured vinyl, and the package contains an insert. GORLS "Fall In Love 1992-93" (HOZAC) HZR216 LP February 12 street date. This one has truly been a long-time-coming. As huge fans of the early 90s trash rock sound, stumbling upon The Night Kings in a sea of stale grunge and alternative pap in 1992 was just what the doctor ordered. Following the Rob Vasquez trail soon led to discovering his previous band The Nights And Days from the mid-late 80s, as well as numerous modern side projects, including The Gorls. The Gorls blasted out of the gate on their own new imprint, DOPE Records in early 1993, and quickly followed up their debut split 7" with only one more 3-track EP before completely disappearing, and leaving a huge void in their wake. Luckily, Gorls member Dawn Johnson was sitting on a full LP's worth of Gorls tracks recorded with Johnny Vinyl in 1992-93, which we can now present for your adoring ear-holes. With 8 of the 12 tracks here previously unreleased, it's a crucial and desperately needed blast. Pressed in a first edition of 500 copies, with a printed inner sleeve full of photos and an interview with lead singer Dawn Johnson, The Gorls debut LP is a long time coming. JOHNSON, CHUCK "The Cinder Grove" (GLITTERBEAT GB106CD CD February 26 street date. The follow-up to Chuck Johnson's acclaimed Balsams LP (VDSQ021LP), The Cinder Grove delves further into the compositional possibilities of the pedal steel guitar. This halcyon collection of tracks draws on a wider palette of sounds, adding strings and piano, to dive deeper into the sound bath of Johnson's meditative music. In making The Cinder Grove, Johnson dug through archival recordings from Oakland DIY performance spaces to digitally extract their reverb and echo qualities. He then applied these effects -- as well as the digitally modeled reverberation of a redwood forest -- to the tracks on The Cinder Grove. "[Johnson] creates a kind of country post-rock. It feels like a universe unto itself."-- KNOCKED DOWN "Anything But Luck" (WORM HOLE WHD134 CD March 12 street date. ‘Knocked Down is a US Skate Punk / Pop Punk trio formed in late 2016. Knocked Down has since signed with the Italian label “WormHoleDeath” and Plans on re-releasing their debut album in 2020. Morphine's debut album "Good" was released in 1992. The band's instrumentation was slightly unusual for a rock band: front man used a two-string bass guitar played with a slide; while adding touches of guitar, piano, electronic organ, and other self-invented guitar instruments to their albums. Saxophonist Dana Colley played several types of saxophones (primarily baritone), sometimes even playing multiple saxes at once, while also playing percussion on occasion. Limited edition of 3000 individually numbered copies on white coloured vinyl. PUSHUPS/AURORA "Pushups Is Pop" (HOZAC) HZR217 LP PUSHUPS February 12 street date. After the short, bright light on the musical horizon from the other-worldly and alien-borne Zolar X in the mid 1970s had fallen away, original members Zory Zenith and Ed Dorn formed another short-lived outfit, Aurora Pushups, and forged ahead with their original material to try their hand at a modernized sound. By 1979 they had solidified their debut tracks and self-released a 7" single to moderate fanfare and enthusiastic radio play, but this early lineup wouldn’t last as Zory's role began to fade. Soon after Zenith's exit, Ed took the reins and put together the frequently-changing band that would record and perform around San Francisco over the next few years as simply Pushups. As one of many bands that only lasted for a quick flash at the and of the 1970s, they didn'’t get to tour much, and although they only had one other self-released 7" single in 1979, the wealth of their material has been sitting, waiting for its moment. Thanks to music archivists Ricky Maymi and through the Zolar X connections with Chuck Nolan, this incredible unreleased material was sent in HoZac's direction, and we've got a full LP's worth of sizzling, unreleased, gold ready for you to gorge upon. Limited to 500 copies. UNIVERSITY "Oh Temple! (2LP)" (HIVE MIND) HMRLP011LP LP CHALLENGED March 5 street date. University Challenged are Ajay Saggar ("Bhajan Bhoy"), Oli Heffernan ("Ivan The Tolerable"), and Kohhei Matsuda ("Bo Ningen"). The trio began in 2019, playing shows in Holland, where they gained a reputation for delivering highly dynamic sense-rattling shows, ranging from gentle melodic orchestral spinouts to epic power jams, all backed by beautiful self-made films in the background. The plan had always been to record an album, and get the collective musical force and spirit cemented to vinyl. Many months of hard work and focus paid dividends with the majestic eight-track double album Oh Temple! ready to be delivered to the world at large. Mixed and produced by Ajay Saggar at his Soundation Studio in Holland in the summer of 2020, and mastered by Oli Heffernan in . This is a beautiful collection of tracks where the pioneering spirit of the three artists allowed them to cross musical boundaries with their bold and accomplished playing to forge eight unique and mesmeric numbers. While there is commonality in the artists approach to music, there are a wide variety of styles -- kosmische musik, electronic experimentation, deep spiritual jazz, modern classical, pastoral guitar soli, and more. These tracks sound fresh and revealing now, and will certainly do so for a long time to come.

3 DREAMS NEVER "Another Vivid Detail" (MY KINGDOM) ECHO153 CD DREAMT March 12 street date. "Another Vivid Detail" is the second album created by 3 dreAms neVer Dreamt, a Milan- based Metal band. The original musical touch, the amazing variety and depth of their sound, the bright references to and Gothic Metal are the trademark that the band shows through very eclectic melodies and complex musical structures. "Another Vivid Detail" is a manifesto of Melancholic Metal music, which evokes sensations beyond any stylistic concern, passing from the most avantgarde Dark Doom of Katatonia and The Gathering to flow in the typical and best Progressive Metal of bands like Porcupine Tree, Tool and Queensrÿche. It is a bombastic and energetic, but also emotional trip full of suggestions painted by 3 dreAms neVer Dreamt amazing colors. The concept of this new album is set in a circus, populated by many characters, among which there are John and Elise, the protagonists of the previous album “A Vanishing Day”. The delirant circus of emotions created is well represented by the fantastic artwork Mattia Stancioiu realised for the album cover. The same Mattia is also the producer of the crystalline and powerful sound crafted at the Elnor Studios! BLEEDING EYES "Golgotha" (GO DOWN) GODLP150 LP BLEEDING EYES "Golgotha (green vinyl)" (GO DOWN) GODLP150X LP February 19 street date. Golgotha is the sixth studio album by Bleeding Eyes. After Gammy (2014) the band embarked on a different stylistic and compositional path. Starting from long and substantial jams, the five-piece band extrapolated and deepened 7 tracks lasting almost 50 minutes. The influences are getting darker. Black on black. The esoteric doom mixed with the tipically sludgy attitude, give to their personal existential ordeal a picture in which Simone Tesser’s lyrics fit perfectly. Golgotha’s topics tell about saints and unbelievers, the latter ones in constant conflict with life and death. This new interpretation, that also takes inspiration from the heretic gospels of the apocalypse (first 2 tracks), represents the steady and never ending spiritual detachment, that our capitalist society has lived in for several decades. With mocking irony and lots of sarcasm a post-dogmatic dark way is proposed by the band to deal with the ordeal of everyday life. The studio recording process lasted several months and was handled by Jason Nealy and Marco Dussin (guitarist and bassist respectively). Bleeding Eyes has chosen the Lorenzo Ferraro’s photography. The album artwork consists in pictures taken right after the passage of the devastating storm Vaia, that heavily damaged the band’s hometown surroundings. The desolation post Vaia matches perfectly with Golgotha’s magmatic darkness. CRAWLING CHAOS "Xlix" (TIME TO KILL) TTK032 CD February 19 street date. Crawling Chaos’s music is a mixture between old school metal and some of the new trends of the extreme music scenario. The narrative dimension of the band’s lyrics is often emphasized through samples, a crucial element also on stage.CC draws inspiration by bands such as Death, Behemoth, Lamb of God, Obscura, Gorguts, Gojira and many more. “XLIX is a concept album loosely based on The Prince, the renown book written by Niccolò Machiavelli in the XVI century. It is conceived as a sort of journey, an out-of-time chronicle telling the tale of a nameless protagonist who is also the sole point of view of the narration.Embittered and frustrated by the reality he’s living in, the protagonist gains access to a forbidden knowledge when he finds a fictional “lost edition” of Machiavelli’s masterpiece. Overall, the concept is a sort of layered, multi-faceted hallegory the listener may decode via various lenses such as theology, sociology, esoterism and psichology – with a touch of grotesque, a feature that has always underpinned Crawling Chaos’ GATE DOORS "All Our Sins" (WORM HOLE WHD247 CD March 12 street date. ‘Gate Doors is a metal band born back in 2010 formed by classmates who decided to put their instruments to make what they always loved to do: Music. Gate Doors recorded their first record “Leave My Life” which achieved a Number 1 on Itunes Top Sells on the day of its releasing, and stayed 4 days as Number 1 on Itunes in Rock category. In this time, Gate Doors started stomping different stages around Spain, but the chance to make a national tour came with the releasing of the 2nd LP “Faster Than Ever”, that traveled all around the country on the “Faster Than Ever Tour 2019”. In the same year, they started composing what will be their 3rd and most ambicious work. IN TORMENTATA "Krononota" (MY KINGDOM) ECHO154 CD QUIETE March 12 street date. “Krononota” is the fifth full-length album released by IN TORMENTATA QUIETE, a band born more than twenty years ago. They released a brilliantly crafted masterpiece in which the essence of time is moulded into a musical and lyrical concept emphasized by a great production (thanks to Domination Studio and its producer Simone Mularoni). Delicate melodies and ancient Folkish sounds live very close to distorted guitars and emotional atmospheres with the magic of three voices (female, clean, growl). You will find the Italian traditional folk tastes, the folk-, the avant-garde Metal of SOLEFALD sounds, the great DEVIL DOLL or the atmospheric and cinematic aura of ULVER. ITQ’s music is influenced by any sound that conveys emotions and each single element allows you to dream. As they say: we capture flows of emotion to channel them into musical expressions. With this new album we are moving towards the definitive consecration of a band that has no equal and that has been able to build an undisputed reputation over the years made of effort and personality. Expect once again a band capable of an extremely avant-garde and theatrical vision of their Art. You cannot miss the appointment. Deprived of any modern comfort, man must face social violence, cannibalism and human sacrifices with magical purposes. This album is a written version of the human race's future. "For six years now I've been arranging and booking Ella Fitzgerald's concert and club dates, and wherever she goes, her reception bears out an opinion that I have long held: People who love good popular music are the same all over the world. Take, for example, this record - "Mack The Knife". It was recorded during a concert at the Deutschlandhallen in Berlin which holds almost 12,000 people, and you can hear the same enthusiastic reaction, the same eager applause, that mark similar recordings Ella has made before live in America. That concert - and this album - have come to be regarded as something special because of Ella's version of "Mack The Knife". It was the first time she'd sung the song, and not knowing the lyric too well, she substituted her own - for what may well have been an improvement on the original" - Norman Granz. MAGIC SAM "The Singles Collection (180g)” (NOT NOW) CATLP182 LP February 26 street date. Listening to Magic Sam playing and singing from a 21st century perspective shows distinctly how he was pushing the blues in a rockier direction and influencing many subsequent players. During the 1960s he attracted many new fans with two fine albums on Delmark Records that have remained very collectable. This fine album represents the first phase of his career and captures his distinct guitar playing with its crisp and sometimes choppy attack. He was very much a second-wave bluesman on the Chicago scene, but obviously had so much to offer in terms of taking the blues in new and exciting directions. OS MUTANTES "Mutantes (bottle green)” (VINYL LOVERS) 990212 LP February 26 street date. One album into their career in 1969, Mutantes showed few signs of musical burnout after turning in one of the oddest LPs released in the '60s. Similar to its predecessor, Mutantes relies on an atmosphere of experimentation and continual musical collisions, walking a fine line between innovation and pointless genre exercises. The lead track ("Dom Quixote") has the same focus on stylistic cut-and-paste as their debut LP's first track ("Panis et Circenses"). Among the band's musical contemporaries, Mutantes sounds similar only to songs like the Who's miniature suite "A Quick One While He's Away" -- though done in three minutes instead of nine, and much more confusing given the language barrier. The album highlights ("Nao Va Se Perder por Ai") and ("Dois Mil e Um") come with what sounds like a typically twisted take on roots music (both Brazilian and American), complete with banjo, accordion, and twangy vocals. Though there are several other enjoyable tracks, including "Magica" and a slap-happy stomp called "Rita Lee," there's a palpable sense that the experimentation here isn't serving much more than its own ends. If the first album's relentless eclecticism did in fact occasionally result in dry passages, it's especially true here.

Livity Sound is a label set up by Peverelist in 2011 as a vehicle for a raw and exploratory strain of UK techno, rooted in the heritage of UK dance music and sound system culture. TORME, MEL "The Singles Collection (JASMINE) JASMCD2696 CD 1956-1962" February 12 street date. Spanning multiple labels and styles, this set finds Mel Tormé in transition with one foot in his blossoming jazz career and the other still looking for hits. Not many could get away with recording (what is probably the definitive version of) “Lulu’s back In Town” one moment and novelty tracks like “What’s New At The Zoo?” the next, except for the Velvet Fog himself. Featuring recordings made in London, Los Angeles and New York accompanied by some of the greatest arranging talent of the era, including Ted Heath, Billy May, Russell Garcia and Marty Paich. It contains all of his UK & US single releases, released between 1956 and 1962, in their original single versions (and in stereo where possible). Many are rare or new to CD in particularly the hideously difficult to find “Wayfaring Stranger” which has not been heard since it’s brief single release on the flip side of “Walk Like A Dragon” in 1960.
