Cleo Coyle Espresso Shot Excerpt 1 An exclusive excerpt from... ESPRESSO SHOT A Coffeehouse Mystery by Cleo Coyle Now available in mass market paperback! “SUPERB…INTELLIGENT…HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...” —Library Journal (Starred review) Coffeehouse manager Clare Cosi rarely gets steamed. But ever since her ex-husband announced his plans to remarry, she’s been making some vows of her own . Roped into creating a gourmet coffee and dessert bar for her ex-husband’s wedding, Clare faces off with the bride-to-be. Wealthy and sophisticated, the snarky Breanne has never been a low maintenance kind of gal, and now she’s in full-blown bridezilla mode. The only way Clare can possibly deal with her is to focus on business. But murder is Clare’s business, too, and when fatal accidents begin befalling people close to Breanne, Clare becomes suspicious. Is someone trying to sabotage this wedding? Kill Breanne? Clare decides to investigate. But what she uncovers, between steaming cappuccinos and roasting the world’s rarest coffee beans, may just get her burned. “RECIPES, ROMANCE AND CAFFEINE-FUELED DETECTION ADD UP TO A LIVELY TALE.” —Kirkus Excerpt © 2008 The Berkley Publishing Group. Here’s the set up: After witnessing a shooting on the street the night before, Clare Cosi and her ex-husband Matt drop by the Greenwich Village police station.

  • 'The Viennese Café and Fin-De-Siècle Culture'
DR DIANE SILVERTHORNE is a specialist in fin-de-siècle art and design, particularly Viennese, and in modernism, art, and music. She lectures in the History of Art and Screen Media Department at Birkbeck, and the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of London. Her doctoral thesis, New Spaces of Art, Design and Performance: Alfred Roller and the Vienna Secession 1897- 1905, considered concepts of space and notions of the Gesamtkunstkwerk (total work of art) in the applied arts. Project Review ‘The Viennese Café and Fin-de-Siècle Culture’ A collaboration between The Royal College of Art and Birkbeck, led by Professor Jeremy Aynsley (RCA), Dr Tag Gronberg (Birkbeck) and Professor Simon Shaw-Miller (Birkbeck), Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), 2006–09 / Diane Silverthorne ON A BRIGHT MORNING IN OCTOBER 2008, the doors of the Royal College of Art opened to an unusual exhibition. Instead of the cutting-edge art more usually associated with RCA students and their final-year shows, a modified version of the long-established Viennese café, Demel, was installed at the entrance. Inside the exhibition sound recordings, film, and a series of reproductions of various Viennese coffeehouse settings from the eighteenth century onwards explored the café as a social, designed, and cultural space. Within hours of opening, the exhibition spaces were crowded with members of the public, as well as of the academic community, and remained so throughout the two weeks of the exhibition‘s life. Many stayed, often for several hours, treating the makeshift coffeehouse tables as ‗a sort of democratic club […] where every guest can sit for hours on end, discussing‘, as Viennese writer Stefan Zweig described in his autobiography.1 Visitors were cast in a performative role, apparently recreating the famously interconnected creative circles of Vienna café life at the turn of the twentieth century.

We would also like to thank the personnel, managers and the barista for their answers to our questions. Finally we would like to thank the opponent group for their valuable criticism we would also like to take a moment and express our gratitude to the free software Skype that has enabled us to stay in touch despite the long distance between us. Målilla, Düsseldorf, Helsingborg 2007-05-28 Emma Almqvist Barbara Hruzova Kajsa Olsson Abstract The Swedish coffee culture is changing and bringing new business opportunities for multinational coffee shops. Our purpose with this dissertation was to describe the Swedish coffee culture and its changes. We wanted to increase our knowledge about how these changes can make Sweden a more attractive country for coffee shops, like Starbucks, wanting to establish in Sweden. We choose to use a qualitative method with an abductive approach. To gather the primary data we interviewed one barista and sent questionnaires to staff at different big coffee shops in Sweden. The interview questions were made out of five categories of describing culture by Rugman and Hodgetts. These answers and a multiple of articles helped us to describe the coffee culture and the changes.

  • The Awesome Potential of Coffeehouse Ministry
The awesome potential of coffeehouse ministry: some tips based on 30+ years of experience by Drew M. Crandall, Director Jacob’s Well Christian Coffeehouse Rockville, CT www.JacobsWellCoffeehouse.com First, some background. My wife Dawn and I are both Baby Boomers. Sad to say, both of us grew up in churches that were full of ritual and tradition, but had very little preaching of the Gospel, evidence of the Holy Spirit, or strong Biblical teaching. We are part of a huge generation of Americans that was largely turned off by “organized religion.” As teens and young adults, Dawn and I fled the church. Then came the original coffeehouse movement in the late ‘60s and ‘70s. As a young bachelor building a career in Chicago, I would take the elevated train to a delightful secular coffeehouse in the city. I could come for a much-enjoyed, laid-back evening of food, beverages, games, and tunes. No pressure to perform or impress. In this simple, casual atmosphere, I was free to be myself. The coffeehouse was a wonderful oasis in the midst of my hectic career and challenging city life. Meanwhile, Dawn had begun to question the purpose of life. After a live performance of Jesus Christ Superstar in Worcester, Massachusetts, Dawn was invited to come to a church coffeehouse. She came, heard the music and the preaching, and trusted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior in 1971. Years later, I met Dawn and we began dating. At the time, she was a Christian and I wasn’t. Largely due to her influence, I trusted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.

Don’t let the name fool you, this is not your ordinary coffeehouse. This is a full-blown fast/casual dining experience that is committed to providing a quality experience for its customers, and the word is out. From humble beginnings 13 years ago in a restored brick building in DeLand, Florida, Boston Coffeehouse® rapidly became the centerpiece of a revitalized downtown entertainment area and a favorite meeting place for business lunches and community groups. It’s the perfect place to meet with friends, host a luncheon or event, or relax and enjoy a great meal. About Us - So Much More Than Just A Coffee House Boston Coffeehouse’s® success is not by accident. The Coffeehouse was the brainchild of Joe Valente, a Boston native and a graduate of the Boston University with an MA in City Planning. He moved to DeLand, Florida in 1996 to work for the City of DeLand, enamored of its small-town southern charm. Joe quickly perceived the need for a good coffee shop and a better sandwich, and starting from scratch, renovated an old building and the first Boston Coffeehouse® was born. The attraction is the deliciously unique assortment of specialty drinks and the award winning food selection as well as the finest coffees.
