  • Reality Inspired Games: Expanding the Lens of Games’ Claims to Authenticity
Reality Inspired Games: Expanding the Lens of Games’ Claims to Authenticity Robyn McMillan, Darshana Jayemanne, Iain Donald School of Design and Informatics, Division of Games and Arts University of Abertay Bell Street, Dundee DD1 1HG +44 1382 308000 [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] ABSTRACT This paper considers the potentials of contemporary games staking claims to realism through documentary and journalistic techniques as part of a wide-ranging cultural and technological phenomenon– ‘Reality Inspired Games’ or RIGs (Maurin, 2018). We argue that RIGs employ design techniques and strategies of legitimation that are valuable to the reactive development cycles in the indie sector, whilst also being beneficial for academic research and development. Through examining traditional documentary and the concept of Bruzzi’s performative documentary (2006) we highlight how this concept may allow developers to negotiate performativity and authenticity in their videogames. We discuss examples of such games in the realm of indie productions, such as That Dragon, Cancer (2016), This War of Mine (2014), and My Child Lebensborn (2018) and Bury Me, My Love (2017). All of which represent new ground for game design, documentary and journalistic techniques that have influenced our work on the MacMillan project. Keywords Reality Inspired Games, Documentary, Performativity, Indie “Much like photographs, paintings, literature and music are capable of transmitting the full range of the human experience from one human to another, so too can games. Due to their interactivity, games are capable of a higher form of communication, one which actively engages the participant and makes them a part of the experience rather than a passive observer” (Brathwaite & Sharp, 2010, p315).

  • The History of Video Games
The history of video games • Introduction • Arcades • Nintendo • Sega • Sony • Microsoft • PC • Conclusion • Bibliography We are going to talk about the most known gaming systems up until now. We are also going to talk about the major console-producing companies, one by one. Arcade games are coin-operated machines, usually installed in public businesses, such as restaurants. They were most popular from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s. Even though they lost popularity in the western market, they still continue strong in Asian territory such as Japan. Arcades were home to great games like: Mortal Kombat Pac-man And Donkey Kong This is one of the most well-known and prominent video game companies of all time. Although they didn’t start out with video games they had great sucess with the Nintendo Entertainment System and it’s sucessor.Until now they have released the N64, the Gamecube, the Wii and Wii U. They also released various mobile consoles like the Gameboy, Ds, 3Ds and their variants. Nintendo owns great franchises like: Mario Legend of Zelda Metroid And Pokémon SEGA is also a very important company, being the competitor of Nintendo during the 1980s. They achieved this with Sonic, the companie’s mascot. He was a platformer like Nintendo’s Mario, but instead of being an italian plumber he was a fast and “hip” blue hedgehog. In 2001, the Dreamcast (their latest console) failed and forced the company into going third-party. This means they started making games for other consoles instead of their own. They have many iconic franchises like: Crazy Taxi Sonic the Hedgehog And Super Monkey Ball As you know Sony doesn’t only produce games, but they are “big dogs” in the gaming industry.

Since that time, the Fiesta Bowl organization has grown into much more than just one game. The Fiesta Bowl’s vision is to be a world-class community organization that executes innovative experiences, drives economic growth and champions charitable causes, inspiring pride in all Arizonans. As a nonprofit organization, we believe in the importance of fostering a culture of community outreach and service. Based in Scottsdale, the Fiesta Bowl hosts a variety of local events each year, as well as two elite bowl games – the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl and the Cactus Bowl. • P.T Game Pc Download Punity
p.t game pc download Punity. Punity is the Windows adaptation of the brilliant game P.T., the Silent Hills technical demo by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro that so thoroughly amazed and terrified players on Playstation 4. In this tribute to the Konami classic, players walk through the legendary terrifying hallway. The game system in Punity is very similar to the original P.T. Players can walk up and down the sinister hallway and take in all the details. The sounds, bumps, and strange movements you'll start noticing are what make this game amazing. The game has very similar graphics to the technical demo mentioned earlier. Most surprisingly, it uses the versatile motor Unity, so if you have a powerful operating system and can set the graphics at the highest settings, you'll be able to enjoy this spectacular terror even more. Silent Hills' P.T. teaser is now playable on PC thanks to fan remakes. P.T. was the playable teaser for Silent Hills—the reboot of the Silent Hill series that was cancelled in 2015—and even though it was short it still ranks among the best horror games of all time (and certainly one of the scariest). It never made it to PC, but thanks to a couple of fan remakes you can now give it a whirl on your mouse and keyboard. The first remake is called Corridors, and is a recreation of the game in Unreal Engine 4. It's still very much a work in progress (expect bugs), and creator SmoggyChips plans to update it with more levels in the future.

Iran [email protected] Alaeddini, Mohammad Ali Nickfam, Ramtin Assistant professor, English Department M.A. in English literature Payame Noor University, Tehran. Iran Payame Noor University. Tehran. Iran [email protected] [email protected] Abstract: Every literary narrative (or any form of art) follows some rules or structures that beside its mode of narration are common in all literary forms. In this research, it has been tried to demonstrate another mode of narration and depicting theories of Northrop Frye and Vladimir Propp’s structuralism in a video game named God of War. In this regard, after a very short introduction on structural school, and a short explanation on each of these theories, those structures will be represented in the video game. Frye’s notion of genre analysis will be applied on GOW with a summarized introduction; and then for structure of narrative present study uses Propp’s category of structures. His theory does not include only the narratemes in the story, but in fact beside 31 narratemes, there are still five categories of elements, plus seven character types. The result clearly indicated that video games have the capacity to be analyzed from structural point of view and also these structures were common on genre, characters and elements, too.

  • Audience-Producer Relationships and Their Effect on Let's Play
“We can show that!” Audience-Producer Relationships and Their Effect on Let’s Play Production Nikki Miller 1 According to popular belief and Internet rumor, the start of the Let’s Play, abbreviated as LP in this paper, as it became known as a video medium, is attributed to user Michael “slowbeef” Sawyer on the Something Awful forums in 2007. Sawyer used an emulator to provide a walkthrough for The Immortal on the SEGA Genesis. Although there is no in-game audio, Sawyer provides what he described as a kind of “player’s commentary” as he played the game, and thus, the modern LP was born. Sawyer actually goes further back on the forums and credits the idea to text-and-image-based LPs, where forum users would document their playing experience using screenshots, and others would chime in with ideas or hints. Although there is no evidence of it in the archives, Kotaku and members of the Something Awful forum credit the coining of the term “Let’s Play” to a fabled Oregon Trail thread, where “‘someone would start a story and draw panels/images, with thread posters dictating where the story went next’” (Karlsson in Klepek, 2015). This Oregon Trail thread has since been lost to time, as it no longer exists in the Something Awful Forum archives, and exists only in user memories. Following that one, the next LP in this form to gain popularity was one of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, which itself credits the original Oregon Trail thread. Not only did this LP explode with users who had never even bothered to engage with this kind of post on the forum, it ended with a video file of the end of the game.
