Come smell the roses, learn about herbs, and even go on a hayride. Columbus Park of Roses at Whetstone Park This 13-acre park contains three unique rose gardens, an Earth-Kind® Rose Garden, Main Rose Garden and Heritage Garden as well as herb and perennial gardens. One of the largest public rose gardens in the United States, the Park of Roses in Whetstone Park has been among the most beautiful places in Columbus since 1953. It has grown to include 12,000 roses of more than 400 varieties. The park is a certified arboretum and ranked among the top 10 public rose gardens in the country by the All-American Rose Selections. (parkofroses.org) . Dill’s Greenhouse Dill’s Greenhouse is a local, family-owned business started in 1983. They have a knowledgeable team eager to share their love of gardening. They grow their own annuals, perennials, vegetable plants and hanging baskets. Nearly all the nursery stock is Ohio-grown increasing the success rate of its trees and shrubs. Our Tour will coincide with their annual Fall Fun Festival featuring a 5-acre corn maze, an indoor straw maze and (weather permitting) a hayride given by owner Jerry Dill. At Dill’s, “Only Nature Does It Better.” (dillsgreenhouse.net) . The Gardens at Gantz Farm After being a “hidden gem” of Grove City and the greater Columbus area for 26 years, The Garden at Gantz Farm is ready to take it’s spot in the limelight. We are an open public garden and part of the Grove City Parks and Recreation department. We strive to be the best educational herb garden in Central Ohio and even the state. Our farmhouse garden gives visitors an idea of what household gardens were circa 1842. Statewide master gardener tour visitors will find volunteers stationed throughout our gardens, ready to answer specific questions or provide advice. As a garden comprised of all herbs, we include woody shrubs and trees with herbal properties. We are sectioned primarily by plant use into 8 specific gardens. The main gardens have been renovated, rebuilt and had additions made. There is a large labyrinth surrounded with trees, shrubs, flowers and some fruit. We have a beautiful rain garden and a new pollinator garden. Our Garden of Tomorrow serves as an outdoor classroom and features herbs planted for the functions they perform in landscaping. The children’s garden is specific for teaching youngsters. Come see us during the tour and them come as often as you’d like, because we are always open. Our staff, gardeners and volunteers make The Garden at Gantz Farm a unique compact property on a large park parcel of 27 acres that include an arboretum. With a lot of walking trails and outbuildings we host many weddings and events in our pavilion, shelter house and smack in the middle of the herbs too! Gantz is a pastoral setting with a flowing creek, bridges and even big red barns. Our very active and dynamic volunteers provide wonderful functions such as our annual plant sale, Spring Symposium, participation in the Grove City Farmer’s Market, and numerous teaching opportunities. Volunteers also make herbal products which you’ll find for sale onsite. Franklin County International Harvest Garden The International Harvest Garden was established by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners in 2013 to foster the availability of healthy, fresh and affordable foods for Franklin County residents. Open to all County residents with a strong participation from Columbus’ immigrant populations providing space to grow food and have fellowship. The two-acre garden produces about 20,000 pounds of food annually. .
