Forum: Historical Security Council of 1973 Question of: The Yom-Kippur War Submitted by: United Kingdom Co-submitted by: Arab Republic of Egypt, Panama, United States of America 1 The Security Council, 2 3 Fully alarmed by the open hostilities in the Middle-East, 4 5 Pointing out the articles of the United Nations Charter, most importantly chapter VII, 6 7 Noting with deep regret the human life at risk, 8 9 Expecting a further escalation of the conflict if no action is taken, 10 11 Reaffirming the Resolution 242(1975) and its predecessors, 12 13 1. Urges all belligerents of the Arab and Israeli parties to come to an immediate cease- 14 fire on the Sinai front; 15 16 2. Affirms the establishment of a demilitarized zone in the Sinai peninsula under the 17 conditions that: 18 a. the USA and the USSR will supply an equal amount of weaponry to each side, 19 these being Israel and Egypt, 20 b. the delivery of inter-continental nuclear missiles is prohibited, 21 c. a buffer zone is established; 22 23 3. Extends the mandate of UNEF II with the mission of: 24 a. keeping the ceasefire through every means necessary, 25 b. containing and arresting the rouge Egyptian military personnel in cooper- 26 ation with the legitimate Egyptian government, 27 c. replacing Israeli troops as the primary force on the peninsula in order to: 28 i. keep the ceasefire between the Israeli and Egyptian government, 29 ii. take a stand in the area in order to allow further peace- 30 negotiations, 31 iii. still allow peaceful Israeli military presence; 32 33 4. Approves that the USSR will immediately end the delivery of weaponry supplies to 34 the Egyptian Defense Forces due to the uncontrollable escalation of a rogue military; 35 36 5. Invites every member state to supply military support to UNEF II. .
