RH Aneury Rodriguez allowed a leadoff single in the first inning, then retired 14 straight hitters…he fanned a season-high eight and did not walk a batter. th DH Chris Richard popped a 2-out homerun in the first inning, his 15 , to give Durham all the offense it would need…it was his 50 th extra-base hit of the season. LF Elliot Johnson , 2 nd in the IL with a .319 average, went 2-for-4 with his 20 th double. MONTGOMERY (AA - Southern League) The Lookouts got a bases-clearing double in the 12 th to cap off 8 unanswered runs against the Biscuits, whom they topped, 10-7 in 12 innings…Montgomery had a 7-2 lead after 3 innings. LH Josh Satow allowed multiple earned runs for the 6 th time in 8 appearances and took the loss. RH Jeremy Hall allowed a pair of homeruns in a start for the first time since June 18 (11 starts) but was awarded the no-decision…his ERA (3.60) is the highest it has been since May 15, when it was 4.24. LF Emeel Salem led the offense with 4 hits…it was his 4 th multi-hit game over his last 5. SS Drew Anderson hit his 9 th triple, good enough for 3 rd in the ML. CHARLOTTE (A – Florida State League) The Stone Crabs were shut out by the Miracle, 5-0…it was the 11 th time they had been blanked this season. FSL strikeout leader RH Matt Moore fanned 5 over 5 innings and allowed just 3 hits and 2 runs but lost for the 11 th time…he now has 187 punch outs. FSL batting leader C Stephen Vogt went 2-for-4…RF Reid Fronk added a 2-for-5 effort…Fronk and Vogt are 3rd and 4 th in OBP in the FSL, at .381 and .380, respectively…Vogt’s .498 slugging percentage leads all FSL hitters. Charlotte pitchers have struck out 1,047 batters in 1,077.2 inning this season. BOWLING GREEN (A – Midwest League) Bowling Green dropped lake County, 6-2, for its 2 nd straight win. LH Kyle Lobstein matched his season high with 7 innings pitched (4 th time)…it was his 2 nd straight quality start. The Hot Rods’ 1st , 2 nd and 4 th hitters went a combined 6-for-14 with 5 RBI…SS Tyler Bortnick , CF Ty Morrison and 1B Ryan Wiegland each had a pair of hits...all of the Rods’ hits were singles. Lake County LF Delvi Cid stole his league-leading 62 nd base. Both Morrison and RF Brett Nommensen were caught stealing. HUDSON VALLEY (SS-A – New York-Penn League) The Renegades lost late to the Iron Birds, 7-6. RH Steve Hiscock blew the save in the 9 th …he allowed multiple runs for a 3 rd straight appearance after not allowing a run in his 6 outings previous. RH Zachary Rosscup started went 3 innings…RH Nate Garcia lowered his ERA to 1.86 after allowing 1 earned run over 4.1 innings while striking out 6. 1B Phil Munderlich raised his batting average to .340, 2 nd in the NYPL, with 2 doubles…he has hit safely in 9 straight games and has 3 consecutive multi-hit games. 2B Robbie Price reached base 3 times via a single and 2 walks…his .435 OBP leads all Penn League hitters. PRINCETON RAYS (Rookie – Appalachian League) Princeton had Wednesday off. GCL RAYS (Rookie – Gulf Coast League) The GCL Rays scored a 3-1 win over the GCL Twins. RH Eduar Quinonez went 5 innings for the 4 th straight start and didn’t allow a run, but took the no-decision.
