Sherry Middaugh, Kim Moore, Kate Hunter and Andra Marmark TEAM SHERRY MIDDAUGH HAS THIRD WIN – 2006, 2004 & 2001 SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO WOMEN’S CHARITY CASHSPIEL The 10th Annual Southwestern Ontario Women’s Charity Cashspiel started on Friday, October 13th with a very strong field of 32 national and international women curling teams. The Cashspiel showcased world class women’s curling while supporting local initiatives in breast cancer research and care through the London Regional Center Program. The Celebrity Funspiel gave regular curlers the opportunity to have fun curling with the Pros on Thursday night at Highland Curling Club raising over $11,000. The Silent Auction was held at St. Thomas Curling Club. Thanks to over 50 generous donations and those who took part in the silent auction, the proceeds will support the Care and Cure of Breast Cancer. As the Cashspiel progressed and teams were eliminated, Monday’s final was the best the event has seen. The Sherry Middaugh team from Coldwater and Patti Lank team from Niagara Falls, New York, put on a 3½ hour thriller at the London Curling Club…There were triple and double takeouts, negotiating narrow ports time and time again. Team Middaugh won in the 11th end, taking home $11,000 and was presented with the Donna Arnold Memorial Trophy. The Cashspiel was a qualifying event for the Canada Cup of Curling and a World Curling Tour Event.
