Profilo demografico della provincia di Siena Fino agli anni novanta del secolo scorso la percezione dei trend demografici della provincia di Siena era di una lenta e progressiva diminuzione della popolazione. Nel decennio successivo, invece, la popolazione ha visto un trend in aumento, con una lieve diminuzione dall'anno 2012, arrivando a 268.341 unità nel 2017 1. Analizzando il trend della popolazione residente in provincia di Siena si può osservare come questa sia passata da 266.291 unità del 2007 a 268.341 unità del 2017, con un incremento di 2.050 unità nel decennio. Esaminando nel dettaglio l’età della popolazione residente in provincia di Siena si può evidenziare come nell’anno 2017 si sia registrato un incremento dei giovani da 0 a 14 anni e degli ultra sessantacinquenni, come è possibile rilevare dai dati riportati nella tabella 1.1. La popolazione con più di sessantacinque anni è passata, a livello provinciale, da 66.123 unità del 2007 a 69.257 unità del 2017. Tuttavia, all’aumento della popolazione ultra sessantacinquenne, nello stesso periodo, è corrisposto anche un incremento della popolazione con meno di quindici anni.
