Porsche tackles the first Sports Car World Endurance Championship WEC race at Sebring since 2012 as the points’ leader. After five of the season’s eight rounds, the works team with its two ca. 510 hp Porsche 911 RSR ranks first in the manufactur- ers’, drivers’ and team categories. Three customer squads field four other identical vehicle models in the GTE-Am category. With the WEC held as a joint event alongside the North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from March 13-16, a total of eight Porsche 911 RSR vehicles will be competing on the legendary Sebring circuit. The race Sebring has hosted the Sports Car World Endurance Championship WEC only once since the launch of the series. In 2012, works drivers Marc Lieb (Germany), Richard Lietz (Austria) and Patrick Pilet (France) finished in second place. In the long history of endurance racing at Sebring, Porsche is by far the most successful manufacturer, with a total of 18 overall victories going to the marque from Weissach. The most recent victory was in 2008 thanks to Timo Bernhard (Germany), Romain Dumas (France) and Emmanuel Collard (France) at the wheel of a Porsche RS Spyder. The Porsche GT Team drivers Richard Lietz (Austria) and Gianmaria Bruni (Italy) tackle the 1,000-mile race (or eight hours) with the No. 91 Porsche 911 RSR car. The pair achieved second place at the Shanghai round of the 2018/2019 Super Season.

    Press Release 8 April 2021 Porsche announces cockpit line-up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and 8 Hours of Portimão With the experience of 59 Le Mans participations to the highlight of the year Stuttgart. Porsche has secured the support of two endurance aces for the two FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) races in Portimão and Le Mans. In the ca. 515 hp Porsche 911 RSR (#91), Frédéric Makowiecki reinforces the regular WEC drivers Gianmaria Bruni from Italy and Richard Lietz from Austria. The Frenchman has been part of the driver line-up to tackle the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the last three years. In the No. 92 car, Neel Jani from Switzerland and the Frenchman Kévin Estre receive reinforcement from Michael Christensen. The Dane won the GTE-Pro class at Le Mans in 2018 with Estre and Belgium’s Laurens Vanthoor. The experienced trio will also contest round two of the season in Portugal on 13 June. “Between them, these six nominated drivers have a total of 59 Le Mans races under their belts. This experience is invaluable,” explains Pascal Zurlinden, Director Factory Motorsport. Porsche's reputation precedes it at this venue: with 16 overall victories under its belt, the brand holds the record for this, the most famous endurance race in the world. In 2014 Porsche is returning to the top-level class endurance race after a 16-year absence - namely Le Mans Prototypes (LMP1). Matthias Müller, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG explains: "The new and revolutionary efficiency regulations for this class were what prompted us to take this step. In 2014 it is not going to be the fastest contender who is going to win the sports car world championship and Le Mans, but the car that gets furthest with the defined amount of energy. In front of 58,000 spectators, Wolf Henzler (Germany), Christian Ried (Germany) and Joel Camathias (Switzerland) finished second in the GTE-Am class after a strong drive in the 470 hp race car, which is based on the seventh generation of the iconic 911 sports car. After making a good start from pole position, the 911 RSR fielded by Abu Dhabi Pro- ton Racing initially took the lead on the Eifel circuit. The season-opening race of the sports car World Endurance Championship WEC at Silverstone on 20 April marks the return of Porsche to top- level motorsport. On the storied British race track, the newly-formed Porsche Team campaigns two Porsche 919 Hybrid vehicles in the LMP1 class. In the GTE-Pro class, the Porsche Team Manthey squad fields a pair of Porsche 911 RSR. Silverstone hosts the first of eight WEC rounds this season, with the Le Mans 24 Hours as the ultimate highlight in June. The 100-minute IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race, a round of the GTD-only class Sprint Cup Championship, will see the No. 88 Team Hardpoint EBM Porsche 911 GT3 R race car carry the banner for the German sports car manufacturer into the heart of the North American automobile industry, Detroit, Michigan. Porsche is the all-time leader in IMSA race wins with 579 class and overall victories. Having won the first IMSA race held – 1971 at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) with a Porsche 914/6 GT driven by Hurley Haywood and Peter Gregg – Porsche has captured 236 more race victories than its nearest competitor. The most recent series win for Porsche came at the Mobil1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March when it captured both the GTLM class (WeatherTech Racing Porsche 911 RSR) and the GTD class (Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R) titles extending its winning record at the Florida classic.     Press Release 8 April 2021 Porsche announces cockpit line-up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and 8 Hours of Portimão With the experience of 59 Le Mans participations to the highlight of the year Stuttgart. Porsche has secured the support of two endurance aces for the two FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) races in Portimão and Le Mans. In the ca. 515 PS Porsche 911 RSR (#91), Frédéric Makowiecki reinforces the regular WEC drivers Gianmaria Bruni from Italy and Richard Lietz from Austria. The Frenchman has been part of the driver line-up to tackle the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the last three years. In the No. 92 car, Neel Jani from Switzerland and the Frenchman Kévin Estre receive reinforcement from Michael Christensen. The Dane won the GTE-Pro class at Le Mans in 2018 with Estre and Belgium’s Laurens Vanthoor. The experienced trio will also contest round two of the season in Portugal on 13 June. “Between them, these six nominated drivers have a total of 59 Le Mans races under their belts.
