This year, 15 cars will head to the 6.2 km Guia Circuit, with both Craft-Bamboo Racing and Manthey Racing fielding two Porsche 911 GT3 R each, making Porsche joint as the most represented manufacturer on the grid. Heading to the circuit for the first time is Porsche Young Professional Mathieu Jaminet, who will drive the Porsche Design liveried #991 car for Craft-Bamboo Racing. This is the Frenchman’s second appearance with the Hong Kong-based squad, having made his debut at the Suzuka 10 Hours. His team-mate for this weekend and 2008 Macau GT Cup winner, Darryl O’Young, is entering his 15th consecutive race here and will run the #55 car bearing the Vita VLC colours. Porsche factory drivers and IMSA team-mates Earl Bamber and Laurens Vanthoor will lead Manthey Racing’s charge, with the Platinum grade racers both having made two previous appearances in the FIA GT World Cup. 2016 Macau winner and GT lap record holder Vanthoor will drive the #911 Porsche 911 GT3 R, with 2016 Qualifying Race runner-up Bamber occupying the #912 car. The Macau weekend will consist of practice on Thursday, before qualifying around the high-speed street circuit gets underway on Friday. Then comes the 12-lap Qualifying Race on Saturday, with the all-important 18-lap Main Race taking place on Sunday. -

The Porsche Type List
The Porsche Type List When Professor Ferdinand Porsche started his business, the company established a numeric record of projects known as the Type List. As has been reported many times in the past, the list began with Type 7 so that Wanderer-Werke AG did not realize they were the company’s first customer. Of course, as a result, Porsche’s famous car, the 356 as defined on the Type List, was actually Porsche’s 350th design project. In reviewing the Porsche Type List enclosed on this website, you might notice several interesting aspects. First, although there is a strong chronological alignment of Type numbers, it is certainly not perfect. No official explanation exists as to why this occurs. It is possible that Type numbers were originally treated only as an informal configuration and data management tool and today’s rigorous examination of Porsche history is but an aberration of 20/20 hindsight. Secondly, you might also notice that there were variations on Type List numbers that were probably made rather spontaneously. For example, consider the Type 60 with its many “K” variations to designate different body styles. Also consider how the Type 356 was initially a tube frame chassis then changed to a sheet metal chassis with the annotation 356/2 but the /2 later reused to describe different body/engine offerings. Then there were the variants on the 356 annotated as 356 SL, 356A, 356B, and 356C designations and in parallel there were the 356 T1 through 356 T7 designations. Not to mention, of course, the trademark infringement threat that caused the Type 901 to be externally re-designated as the 911. -

Press Release October 8, 2019 Preview, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, round 11, Road Atlanta/USA Porsche pursues titles at the final works campaign with the proven 911 RSR Stuttgart. Heading to the final round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Champion- ship at Road Atlanta (USA), Porsche is poised to clinch the manufacturer, team and driver titles. The North American factory team of the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer tackles the final ten-hour race, dubbed Petit Le Mans, on 12 October holding a clear lead in all categories. To win the manufacturers’ championship, only one of the two Porsche 911 RSR needs to finish in the points. The fight for the drivers’ classification goes down to the wire between the Porsche works drivers Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) in the number 912 car, and their colleagues in the number 911 vehicle, Patrick Pilet (France) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain). The race at Road Atlanta marks the last outing for the two Porsche 911 RSR (2017 model year) decked out in the historic design of Coca-Cola. The customer squad Pfaff Motorsports fields a 911 GT3 R in the GTD category. The race The ten-hour race on the 4.088-kilometre circuit in the US state of Georgia marks the conclusion of the 2019 IMSA season. The storied racetrack on the outskirts of the me- tropolis of Atlanta – the home of Porsche North America and the Coca-Cola beverage company – is a favourite amongst drivers. The so-called “Esses” (turns two to five) are particularly challenging for the drivers. -
