Working with the state Campaign Against Marijuana Planting, COMMET officers raided 23 sites in areas around Covelo, Leggett, Hopland and Willits between July 23 and July 27. The plants were between one-foot and six-feet tall. No arrests were made and no weapons seized. Earlier in July, officers raided 10 gardens in Potter Valley and Laytonville, eradicating 42,210 plants, seizing $2,500 and six weapons. Officers also made one arrest at that time. So far this year, COMMET has seized 152,118 plants this season. In 2006, COM- MET raided 189 illegal marijuana gardens and destroyed 190,541 plants, as well as seizing 36 weapons and making 14 arrests. According to the California Attorney General’s Office, 1,675,681 marijuana plants were seized in California in 2006. Ben Brown can be reached at udjbb@pacif- ic.net.
