3 Seamlessly blending in with its environment Ever since it was founded in 1950, the history of Club Med has been woven around an ideal: living together in harmony and recharging your batteries in unspoilt countryside. Built on part of the concrete-paved area of the resort’s former airfield, which has been closed for many years, Club Med promised the Municipality of Montvalezan that it would depollute and replant the lower part of the mountain airfield, giving over 4,000m2 back to nature. Some 500 trees, over 2,000 forest saplings and shrubs, and over 5000 perennials, grasses, aromatic and medicinal plants have been planted, along with 125 bilberry bushes. Almost all of these have come from nurseries in Savoie or Rhône-Alpes. Right from the start of the project, designed with the architect Alain PALMA from the PLEXUS Architects Workshop, based in Grenoble, Club Med has also been committed to an ecocertifcation process with BREEAM, one of the most demanding and most widely-recognised international, independent eco-construction ce rtification methods in the world. Particular attention has been paid to the building’s energy consumption, optimised by fine-tuned control made possible by the facility’s state-of-the-art centralised technical management and the installation of 5,000 sensors and AI software. Club Med La Rosière is also seeking Green Globe eco-certification of its day-to-day operations. Last but by no means least, Club Med’s ‘Bye Bye Plastics’ programme commits us to doing away with all single-use disposable plastic (already discontinued in our bars and restaurants) in all our Resorts by 2021.

Authentic decor celebrating a unique environment Clad in stone and timber both indoors and outside, Club Med La Rosière takes its cue from the architectural design of the resort it overlooks. The decoration scheme, designed by Jean-Michel Villot of JMV Resort Architectes, draws its inspiration very much from local tradition and regional history. Guests are welcomed by a huge fresco telling the story of Hannibal’s journey through the Alps with his elephants, the Petit Saint-Bernard pass on the border between France and Italy, the Chanousia botanical gardens, and the old altiport. The carefully-chosen materials and ornaments evoke the local trans-alpine region, creating a special atmosphere in each area of the Resort. The spa features the lake path; the swimming pool has the Ruitor ; and the main restaurant showcases the landscapes around the mountain pass and the botanical gardens. The spacious rooms, three-quarters of which are especially family-friendly, offer a great setting from which take in views of the Alps from sunrise to sunset, basking in an unparalleled sense of fullness.

4 Limitless scope for new challenges or simply relaxing The Resort sits at the heart of what is essentially an extremely varied open-air playground. Set off from Club Med La Rosière to climb the slopes on a mountain e-bike, exploring places you can’t get to by car. Pedal a little further and you’ll find yourself on the shores of a majestic lake where you can break for lunch. And don’t worry! To make sure you get off to a good start, a starter lesson is included in the price of your stay. For those seeking thrills on the water, Club Med offers a la carte activities on the many in the area around the Resort, including canyoning, rafting, and white water swimming. Guests can also enjoy a round of golf on our mountainside course, with amazing views. Climbing, Via Ferrata, trail running, and summer tobogganing through the fir trees are also on the menu of not-to-be-missed sports options!

On the trail of biodiversity In the Alps, an adventure awaits every time you step outside. The clear blue waters of the mountain lakes reflect the snow-capped peaks; waterfalls add a burst of movement to their lush green surroundings. Nature offers a whole wealth of diversity for walkers to savour, whether you’re on a serious hike or a gentle stroll. Accompanied by a guide from the region familiar with every path and trail, or on your own, hikers can ford to reach the impressive Verney Lake, just over the Italian border. Families can wander along the paths in the Chanouisa Alpine botanical gardens, home to 1700 species of trees, shrubs, and flowers. Climbers, meanwhile, can scale the slopes of Grand Roc Noir, where the marmots play. And why not walk a little further and visit Aosta, the ‘little Rome of the Alps’, renowned for its market 4 selling the very best in local fare. To round it all off, go to Courmayeur, where you can board the Skyway Monte Blanco cable car; ride it up to an altitude of 3,460 metres to enjoy unrivalled views of Mont Blanc.

A virtual guide, available any time My Club Med Guide is a smartphone app that customers can use to select their walking itinerary and then benefit from directions even when offline, making sure they can complete their walk in safety unaccompanied. There are walks lasting between 30 minutes and 4 hours for all ages and fitness levels, all starting from the Resort itself. Whether you're looking for a gentle stroll as a family or a more challenging series of climbs and descents, there's something for all tastes!

5 The largest wellness space in the Alps Time seems to stand still La Rosière Resort. Go for a swim in the 20-metre outdoor pool – ideal for doing a few lengths whilst admiring 180° views of the Vanoise National Park – and then move over to one of the two Jacuzzis to continue your treat. Relaxation continues indoors in the Resort’s Wellness space, featuring an indoor swimming pool surrounded by huge windows, creating your very own serenity bubble. You can even work out with a swim jet. After that, head over to the Cinq Mondes Spa, with its steam room and 650m2 dedicated to wellness: a place where time ceases to have any meaning amid the perfect combination of personalised treatments and pleasures. This facility also has a fitness room, with classes given by GOs® or on giant screens by leading instructors and Club Med partners for Les Mills fitness sessions. Those keen to push themselves will love the circuit training sessions, while gym aficionados will meet up in the 160m2 cardio-training and weight training area, which boasts sophisticated, modern equipment.

Our only mantra: reconnecting with yourself 4 The Yoga School byHeberson has set up its summer quarters in this inspired venue. Let yourself be t empted by a Vibhava yoga class, on your own or with the family. Learn how to listen to your body and relax deeply, control your breathing, and improve your muscle tone. Signature workshops are also on offer; amongst other benefits, these can improve your stamina before climbing the mountaintops and help you sleep better at altitude. And for a gentle awakening, a sun salutation on the Resort’s rooftop patio will put you back in touch with the nature around you.

Good eating with French and Italian inspiration With its all-day dining offer, the San Bernado Gourmet Lounge literally caters to patrons’ desires all day long. In the evening, it takes on the air of an exclusive restaurant, with table service, mood lighting, and a menu that focuses on local Savoie and Aosta Valley fare. Not far away, Saint Bernards stand guard in each of the five areas of the Mont Valaisan restaurant, each with a different feel and decor drawing inspiration from mountain life. After dinner, guests will enjoy the warm atmosphere of the Hannibal bar with its wooden furniture, dry facing stones, and elegant Chesterfield sofas – as well as its large bay windows, offering valley views you’ll never tire of drinking in. 6 With health considerations in everyone’s mind at present, Club Med has taken care to maintain the friendly atmosphere for which it’s become renowned whilst adjusting its offering as necessary: organising solutions to provide more space and flexibility in restaurants, more GOs® to supervise children in small groups, and enhanced health measures.
