Cruciferae ir liela saimnieciskā nozīme, vairākas sugas ir pasaulē plaši audzēti kultūraugi un izplatītas nezāles. Pēdējā Cruciferae sistemātiskā apstrāde veikta 20. gs. vidū sērijas „Latvijas PSR flora” ietvaros, kuru apstrādājis A. Eleksis (1955). Vēlāk dažāda apjoma informācija par Cruciferae dzimtu ietverta augu noteicējos (Pētersone, 1958, 1980), taksonu sarakstos (Фатаре, 1988; Gavrilova, Šulcs, 1999), kā arī apkopojumā par Baltijas reģionā sastopamajiem taksoniem (Kuusk et al., 1993). Lai arī ir vairākos darbos ir dažāda apjoma dati par Cruciferae, tomēr līdz šim trūka informācijas par vairāku sugu nomenklatūru, morfoloģiju un izplatību. Svarīga nozīme ir pētījumiem par veģetācijas struktūru un sastāvu konkrētā teritorijā. Floras sastāva izmaiņas ietekmē svešzemju sugu migrācija, noturība Latvijas klimatiskajos apstākļos, kā arī dārzbēgļu naturalizēšanās. Latvijā savvaļā sastopamas gan vietējās, gan svešzemju Cruciferae sugas. Svešzemju sugu konstatēšana un izpēte ir būtiska floras analīzē, lai spētu novērtēt to ietekmi uz vietējās floras sugām un biotopiem, kā arī konstatēt to iespējamo invazīvo raksturu. Īpašu uzmanību svešzemju sugām ir pievērsuši V. Mīlenbahs (Mühlenbach, 1934), A. Šulcs (Шулц, 1972, 1976, 1977), kuri savos pētījumos konstatējuši arī vairākas jaunas Latvijas florai retas svešzemju Cruciferae sugas. Taksonomiskie pētījumi aizvien ir aktuāli, ņemot vērā to daudzveidīgo pielietojumu un nozīmību dažādās tautsaimniecības jomās. Tā kā mainās izpratne par taksonu apjomu, kā arī florā ienāk jaunas sugas, ir nepieciešams veikt Cruciferae taksonomisko revīziju, lai noskaidrotu esošos taksonus, precizētu to statusu un iegūtu aktuālu informāciju par to izplatību un sastopamību Latvijā, kā arī sastādīt Latvijā konstatēto Cruciferae sugu noteicēju, kas būtu noderīgs vides un lauksaimniecības jomas speciālistiem. Pētījuma novitāte Pētījuma ietvaros veikta Cruciferae taksonomiskā revīzija, izveidojot aktuālu taksonu sarakstu. Sastādītas ģinšu un sugu noteikšanas tabulas, apkopota zinātniskā un nacionālā nomenklatūra, vairākiem taksoniem izveidoti jauni latviskie sugu nosaukumi. Morfoloģisko pazīmju apraksti veidoti izmantojot Latvijas materiālu un vairākiem taksoniem sugu morfoloģiskie apraksti latviešu valodā sastādīti pirmo reizi. Sagatavotas ģeogrāfiskās izplatības kartes. 5 Promocijas darba mērķis un uzdevumi Mērķis – veikt krustziežu dzimtas Cruciferae Juss. taksonomisko revīziju Latvijas florā. Darba galvenie uzdevumi: 1. Izstrādāt Cruciferea taksonu zinātnisko un nacionālo nomenklatūru. 2. Izveidot oriģinālus taksonu morfoloģisko pazīmju aprakstus. 3. Sagatavot Cruciferae ģinšu un sugu noteikšanas tabulas. 4. Sastādīt ģeogrāfiskās izplatības kartes un izvērtēt taksonu sastopamību Latvijā. 5. Noteikt raksturojošās morfoloģiskās pazīmes Cruciferae sēklām. 6. Izvērtēt taksoniem lietotos latviskos nosaukumus un piešķirt latīnisko nosaukumu potenciālos ekvivalentus latviešu valodā. Galvenās aizstāvēšanai izvirzītās tēzes: 1. Sugu skaita izmaiņas notiek, mainoties taksonomiskajai izpratnei, ienākot jaunām svešzemju sugām un pieaugot

Its eggs and larvae were found on Raphanus sativus, Brassica napus, Coronopus didymus and National Agricultural Research Lepidium pinnatifidium which were the major part of local flora in the study area. Among host plants L. Centre (NARC), Islamabad, pinnatifidum was found to be a new host plant for P. daplidice, where its eggs and larvae were found on Pakistan young leaves and inflorescence. Life cycle of P. daplidice was studied on L. pinnatifidum in laboratory from February to September 2014. During study it was observed that temperature affect the life cycle of Syed Ahmed Zia P. daplidice significantly. The local nectar flora of the study area was Lantana camara, Rosa indica, National Insect Museum, Jasminum officinale, J. grandiflorum, Conyza bonariensis and Fumaria indica. Sampling of vegetation and soil was performed using random sampling method. A total of 52 herbaceous plant species from 26 families were recorded in 30 quadrats. The study aimed to classify and identify plant species and to understand the soil factors playing role in community composition. TWINSPAN was used to identify distinct plant communities, which resulted in the recognition of four vegetation groups. Malvastrum coromandelianum and Cicer arietinum community was present along the agricultural crop fields, Cynodon dactylon and Cerastium fontanum community occupied the humid stands, Micromeria biflora and Grewia tenax community was present in a majority of areas. Lepidium pinnatifidum and Coronopus didymus community was grown along the road in the study area. DCA was used to determine the dominant communities in the study area. Understanding vegetation distribution in this area can help for management, reclamation, and development of Margalla Hills National park ecosystems. (Brassicaceae) in the Upper Great Lakes Region BIOS 35501-01: Practicum in Field Biology Taylor TenBrock Advisor: Hannah Madson 2015 2 ABSTRACT Patterns of fitness and spatial distribution within plant populations may be influenced by the availability of abiotic factors. For example, the availability of water and nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are positively correlated with plant growth and flower production. In this study, we assess (a) the spatial distribution of fitness and density within a single population of Barbarea vulgaris R. Br. (Brassicaceae), (b) the spatial distribution of water and nutrient availability within the population, and whether (c) water and nutrient availability are positively associated with plant fitness and density. We identified all individuals within a population and recorded flower number, plant height, and estimated density. We measured water and nutrient availability across the population. Density was highest in central plots and those medium distance from the wetland, in contrast to flower number and plant height, which were highest in the periphery and plots closest to the wetland. Distribution of water, nitrogen and potassium availability did not show any geographic patterns, but phosphorus levels were highest in plots closest to the wetland. Water availability was not related to plant fitness, and nutrient availability was not correlated with plant height. Flower number was lower in plots with a low phosphorus concentration, suggesting its importance in bud development. Overall, water availability, nitrogen concentrations, and potassium concentration did not significantly influence plant fitness and distribution, but phosphorus levels were associated with flower production.

    Washington Flora Checklist A checklist of the Vascular Plants of Washington State Hosted by the University of Washington Herbarium The Washington Flora Checklist aims to be a complete list of the native and naturalized vascular plants of Washington State, with current classifications, nomenclature and synonymy. The checklist currently contains 3,929 terminal taxa (species, subspecies, and varieties). Taxa included in the checklist: * Native taxa whether extant, extirpated, or extinct. * Exotic taxa that are naturalized, escaped from cultivation, or persisting wild. * Waifs (e.g., ballast plants, escaped crop plants) and other scarcely collected exotics. * Interspecific hybrids that are frequent or self-maintaining. * Some unnamed taxa in the process of being described. Family classifications follow APG IV for angiosperms, PPG I (J. Syst. Evol. 54:563?603. 2016.) for pteridophytes, and Christenhusz et al. (Phytotaxa 19:55?70. 2011.) for gymnosperms, with a few exceptions. Nomenclature and synonymy at the rank of genus and below follows the 2nd Edition of the Flora of the Pacific Northwest except where superceded by new information. The eleven natural plant communities occurring on the site are listed along with hundreds of associated plant and animal species. - Ottawa Sands is located near the mouth of the Grand River in sections 17, 18 and 20 of Spring Lake Township, Ottawa County, in Western Michigan. - Property includes 5,585 feet of Grand River frontage. - A Floristic Quality Assessment demonstrates that a diverse and extremely high-quality plant component exists at Ottawa Sands. Purpose - To gain an understanding of the vegetative plant communities and flora of western Ottawa County and central west Michigan area.

In which four plant species were belonged to genus Cardamine, Lepidium and Thlapsi had 2 species each, while Alliaria, Capsella, Coronopus, Arabidopsis, Isatis, Erysimum, Sisymbrium, Nasturtium had one species each. It was concluded that members of the Brassicaceae need consideration not only for their cultivation but attempt must be made on their conservation for sustainable exploitation of plant wealth. Introduction The study was conducted in District Dir Kohistan (DDK), which is located in Malakand division Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The area is situated between 34º 10 N latitude and 72 º 20 E longitudes in sub-tropical dry temperate portion of Hindukush series. However, some area also lies in the moist temperate zone of the Pakistan. Geographically the Swat area lies in the East, Bajur Agency and Afghanistan in the West, District Dir lower in the South while Chitral in the North. The Dir Kohistan area is situated in the North East of Dir Upper which is encircled by the Hindu Raj on the North, North West by the Torwal and Gabral area in the East.
