Resolution

No. E – 11018/1/2004 – 0.L: The Government of India have decided to constitute the Joint Hindi Advisory Committee for the Ministry of Science and Technology and the department of Ocean Development. The Composition of the Committee, it’s functions, will be as under:-

II Functions of the Committee

The functions of the Committee will be to advise the Concerned departments in matters relating to the provisions of official Language enshrined in the Constitution, decisions of Kendriya Hindi Samiti and the instructions issued by the department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs for the progressive use of Hindi in Official work.

III Tenure

The tenure of members of the committee will ordinarily be three years from the date of it’s Composition, provided that:-

(A) A member of Parliament nominated to the Committee shall cease to be a member of the Committee as soon as he ceases to be a member of Parliament, (B) Any mid – term vacancy shall be filled up by the concerned member’s successor in office, who shall be a member of the Committee for the remaining term of three years. (C) In special circumstances the tenure of the Committee may be prolonged/ Cut short by the department of Science and Technology.

IV General

The Headquarters of the Committee shall be at New Delhi but it may hold it’s meetings at any other place also, if so required.

V Travelling and other allowances

3 The non – official members of the Committee will be paid travelling and daily allowances for attending the meeting of the Committee as per the guidelines Contained in O.M. No. 11/20034/4/86 – O.L. (A-2) dated 22nd January, 1987 of Department of Official Language and in accordance with the prescribed rates and rules as amended from time to time by the Government of India.

Ordered that a copy of the Resolution be Communicated to all the Members of the Committee, all State Governments and Union Territory Administrations, Prime Minister’s office, Cabinet secretariat, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Rajya Sabha secretariat, President’s Secretariat, Vice President’s Secretariat, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Planning Commission, All Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. Ordered also that the Resolution be published in the Gazette of India for general information.
