HJEO Classes 601. $1000 HJEO Non-Pro Hunter Derby Entry Fee: $75 1. The HJEO Derby will run in two rounds at 2'6" or 2'9" — riders declare which. The first round of the derby is a hunter round. The second round is a handy hunter round. 2. Derbies will not have combinations or any lines shorter than a four-stride to allow ponies and horses to do the added step. 3. The top twelve will come back for the second round. 4. The derby is open to all non-pro riders. However, any horse & rider combination that rides in a derby or classic worth $5000 or more during the show season is not eligible for the year-end award or to compete in the year-end final derby 5. Points are accrued by the horse for the year end derby meaning another rider can ride that horse in the year-end derby. 602. Mid West Equitation Finals Entry Fee: $75 Open to all junior, amateur, children’s and adult riders competing in classes at this show. Must be an HJEO member. This class is comprised of four phases, all to be judged on horsemanship skills. Each phase will receive a numerical score and all phase scores are totaled for the final overall score. Ribbons are awarded from first to sixth place in each phase and first to tenth for the combined total scores. Individual phases may be entered. The four sections are: 602a. Mid West Written Phase A multiple choice exam testing knowledge of basic horsemanship skills. 602b Practicum Phase Horse and rider shall be presented to the judge tacked to enter the show ring or any other way as specified by the judge. A one on-one interview and review of skills involving horsemanship and general equine knowledge will be demonstrated to the judge 602c Flat Phase Group work on the rail which may include tests 1-18. 602d Over Fence Phase Equitation type course. Fences are set at 3' and 3'6" The rider must declare the height at which they will jump at the start of the show.

325. Stable Style Equitation Challenge Entry Fee $50 This is a four-phase Equitation Challenge which is based on the Mid West Equitation Finals format used at the HJEO Fall Finale. It is open to all junior amateur riders showing in divisions 2'9"and below with equitation classes. The four phases are: A. Equitation Over Fences (points from rider’s division equitation over fences) B. Equitation on the Flat (points from rider’s division equitation flat) C. Written Test (taken in on Saturday before 2 p.m.) D. Practicum (time and place to be announced) There will be winners in each division as well as an overall winner. This class gives riders a chance to practice equitation and horsemanship to prepare for the Mid West Equitation Finals Championship at this show. Riders will wear armbands during their classes so the judges can identify who is competing and there will be lots of cool prizes for the winners provided by Stable Style. All proceeds directly benefit HJEO year end awards. 604 HJEO Hunter Ride-Off No Entry Fee - must enter at office This class is designed for beginner and intermediate riders and is open to non-professional members of HJEO. They must be in the top ten point earners for the year in the Beginner or Intermediate Hunters. To be shown over a figure-eight course of eight jumps set at 2'6". There is open numerical scoring. The top 12 return in the second round.

605 HJEO Mini Medal Qualifier Entry Fee: $40 To be shown over a figure eight course with fences to 2'6" and only equitation counts. The rider must be an HJEO member. This class is designed for beginner and intermediate riders. The winners qualify for the ride-off at this show. One horse per rider. Three exhibitors must be entered and show for this class to count.

606 HJEO Mini Medal Ride-Off No Entry Fee - must enter at office This class is designed for beginner and intermediate riders and is open to non-professional members of HJEO who have been first or second in a Mini Medal qualifier throughout the year. Course will be shown over a course of eight jumps set at 2'6". Additional testing of the top four to six riders is required, tests 1-7.

Additional testing of the top 4-6 riders is required. Tests 1-9. Open to OHJA members who have finished first or second in any OHJA or HJEO mini medal class during the current show year.

702 OHJA 3' Medal Qualifier Entry Fee: $40 There must be a minimum of three riders for the class to count. This is a figure-eight course of at least eight obstacles at 3' with spreads to 3' with at least one oxer and two changes of direction (lead). Additional tests 1-14 of the top 2-6 riders required. Riders must be OHJA non professional riders, and may not ride in any 3'6" or higher equitation class at the show. Awards are a gold medal and six placing ribbons. First and second place qualify for the 3' Medal Ride-off.
