NOVEMBER 25-26, 2011, BILA TSERKVA. REGIONAL WORKSHOP "PECULIARITIES OF TEACHING POLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE" On 25-26 November, 2011 a regional workshop for teachers of Polish as a second foreign language was held at Kyiv Regional In-Service Teacher Training Institute. The training seminar was organized by Drogobych branch of the Institute of Innovative technologies and Education Content of the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine. The participants (30 persons) were representatives of secondary and higher educational establishments of the city of Kyiv, Kyiv, Poltava, Khmelnytsky, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Zaporozhye, and Kirovograd regions. Among the people, who greeted the participants of the meeting, and highlighted the prospects of Ukraine-Polish relations in education and culture were: Natalia Klokar, rector of the Kyiv Regional In-Service Teacher Training Institute, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor; Dorota Dmuhovska, Vice-Consul, First Secretary of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Poland in Ukraine; Mykola Antonyuk, Deputy of Bila Tserkva Mayor Executive Committee; Jury Petryk, Head of Education and Science Bila Tserkva City Department; Adam Hlopek, Director of Drogobych branch of the Institute of Innovative technologies and Education Content of the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine. Presentation of experience of secondary school 1 with profound study of Slavic languages, Slavic languages scientific laboratory of KRISTTI. demo lesson with the students of 5th grade, which was conducted by Svitlana Kadkalo, Polish teacher of secondary school 1. Participants received some information about modern technology in learning Polish as a second foreign language and teaching materials on the topic, they were involved in methodological development of lessons on specific topics, discussed the psychological and pedagogical conditions for effective learning of Polish as a second foreign by students of secondary and higher educational establishments. INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM "MANDATE OF PRIMARY EDUCATION BETWEEN STANDARDIZATION AND DECENTRALIZATION" WITHIN SWISS-UKRAINIAN PROJECT "DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATION FOR DEMOCRACY IN UKRAINE" On September 26-30, 2011 in Zurich, Switzerlandhosted the International Symposium "MANDATE primary education between standardization and decentralization" in the framework of Ukrainian-Swiss project "Promotion of democratic education in Ukraine", which realized by Pedagogic University of Zurich, Institute of International Educational Projects (IPE) and the National Academy of Public Administration of Ukraine on the basis of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and Government of the Swiss Confederation on technical and financial cooperation. Ukrainian and Swiss experts in the field of education were invited to participate in this event. The delegation included representatives of Presidential Administration of Ukraine and National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine. Rector of the Kyiv Regional In-Service Teacher Training Institute, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor Natalia Klokar participated in the symposium. Swiss and Ukrainian experts organized a series of seminars and workshops to share experience of civic education, scientific principles on the development of education for democratic citizenship and future strategies for its implementation during the symposium. Ukrainian delegation visited the National Parliament of Switzerland to learn about the political system of the country, where they had a meeting with Mrs Doris Fiala (Doris Fiala), member of the Parliament and former president of the Liberal Party of Switzerland. During the meeting the effectiveness of centralized and decentralized approach to governance in education in both countries, as well as promoting sustainable development of civil society were discussed. Ms. Fiala expressed the hope for further fruitful cooperation between teachers of Ukraine and Switzerland. The delegation of Ukraine also made a series of visits to educational institutions. The symposium provided a unique opportunity to compare Swiss and Ukrainian experience in the field of democratization of education. Delegates discussed the role of civic education in the national curricula of both countries, the choice between autonomy and standardization for education, the importance of introducing education to promote healthy lifestyles, historical aspects of civic education in Switzerland in the context of current changes and development of national civic education. N. Klokar took part in the debate focus group and made a report during the final session of the symposium. In her speech, the rector of the institute described the tasks to prepare the next generation to active participation in social activities. AN INTERNATIONAL METING OF THE PARTICIPANTS OF “GLOBAL ACTIVITY PLAN” A meting of the participants of “Global Activity Plan” (GAP) International took place in Sweden on 5-11 October, 2011. Representatives of 17 countries took part in the event. The aim of the meeting is exchange of experience, workshops and study visits on realization of UNA document “Education Strategy for persistent development”. Members of charity organization @Teachers for democracy and partnership” and regional coordinators of the project “Education for persistent development in action” represented Ukrainian educational institutions. During the meeting content of education for persistent development and implementation of “Lessons for persistent development” course in Ukrainian schools were discussed. Foreign experts considered that Ukrainian experience can be adapted to education systems of other countries. Iryna Bondaruk, the head of History and Law department if Kyiv Regional In-Service Teacher Training Institute participated in the event. She reported about the realization of the project in Kyiv Region. A training for participants was held on 7-8 October 2011. Educators from different countries visited a Swedish school. Students spoke about the developed project “City of the Future”, which became one of the best projects on the national level. 13-14 OCTOBER, 2011, BAKU, AZERBAIJAN. INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR “TEACHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN ARMENIA, AZERBAIJAN, BELARUS, GEORGIA, MOLDOVA AND UKRAINE” An international seminar on teachers`s training in Eastern partnership countries took place in Azerbaijan`s capital Baku on 13-14 October 2011. The seminar was organized by the European Commission (EC) and Azerbaijan Ministry of Education. The seminar brought together experts of Eastern Partnership countries: Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova and the European Commission. The aim of the seminar is to discuss training of teachers in the Eastern Partnership countries, experience exchange in this sphere. During the conference the results of study on primary and secondary school teacher education in Eastern Partnership countries: legacies of the past, present developments, and future directions were presented: Main developments in teacher education: policy context The value of teacher professional development Current strengths and weaknesses Parallel workshops were on 3 themes: Workshop 1: TEACHER EDUCATION AND PREPARATION Workshop 2: EVALUATING THE IMPACT AND EFFECTIVENESS OF TEACHER EDUCATION Workshop 3: FUTURE OF TEACHING PROFESSION Rector of Kyiv Regional In-Service Teacher Training Institute, Doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor Nataliya Klokar took part in the event.
