ECOWAS Food across Borders Task Force (public, private, civil society), to expand and improve intraregional trade for regional food security. Five (5) key constraints to Trade: Road harassment, Export Restrictions, Certificates of Origin, SPS Certificates and VAT. Roadshow campaigns, market shows and private sector advocacy efforts contributed to a 71% decrease in bribe costs; a 27% reduction in delays at border checkpoints, and reduced harassment along 5 key trade corridors. Travel card help traders, agents, drivers and others to know the regulations and requirements. Private Sector Associations for Grains (WAGN) and Livestock (COFENABVI) are stronger and are providing market services to members and engaging in advocacy. 7 ECOWAS Region: Actions on the Ground

In FY2013 total regional trade for target staple crops increased 55% over FY 2009 baseline : from $232M to $360 M

– Livestock $266M, – Maize $37M, – Sorghum/ $54M , and – Parboiled Rice, $4M
