Dear student, Welcome to the University of Basilicata (UNIBAS).

[email protected] Upon arrival, but also at the end of your Erasmus period, the first and last thing to do is to contact and reach the International Mobility office located in Via Nazario Sauro 85, 85100 PZ, after booking an appointment through the online platform (for any problem in reaching the office, please contact the office immediately sending an e-mail to [email protected]).

The office is opened on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 and on Tuesday from 15:00 to 16:00.

Being appointed by your university as an Erasmus+ student and having received a first information email from the International Mobility Office. In any case and for any problems/difficulties please contact the International Mobility office team ([email protected], [email protected]).

Draft your Learning agreement with the support of your University choosing course unit from the course catalogue, select the Department/School of reference and the degree programme according to your field and level of study. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us by email ([email protected]). Please remember that you must agree on your choices with your university, as it will have to recognise the credits you obtain at the University of Basilicata. The course catalogue for the following academic year is usually published online in June;

Complete the “Application process” through the ONLINE PORTAL and prepare all the documents listed on the International Relations website, Incoming students section - Before leaving - How to apply) to be send to the International Mobility Office;

Fill in your Learning Agreement through the Online Learning Agreement platform (OLA) following the instructions outlined in the GUIDE . The Learning Agreement must be approved and signed by your university and the University of Basilicata, before starting your mobility, if required by your home university, or immediately upon arrival at the University of Basilicata. If your university does not yet agree to use the online procedure, fill in the Learning Agreement provided by your university and send us back as ready;

Send by email to [email protected] the application form with your signature together with the documents listed on Incoming students section - Before leaving - How to apply and, if already approved, your Learning Agreement;

Send an e-mail to [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected] giving details about your arrival date and if you need help to get to Potenza or Matera from the airport (at least one month before departure);

Contact by e-mail the Regional Educational Agency – A.R.D.S.U. ([email protected]) and in carbon copy to [email protected] if you want to benefit from the Hall of Residence (service offered only in Potenza).

Warning: documents to be added to the application form for non-EU students: a private Insurance; a photocopy of your passport with VISA.

Get in touch with the ESN staff to better organize your stay and meetings with the UNIBAS offices;

Book an appointment with the International Mobility staff to check-in and come on the day and at the appointed time (opening hours: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.00 to 11.00 and on Tuesday from 15.00 to 16.00);

Go to the Student Services for enrolment. The Student Offices are opened on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.00 to 11.00 and on Tuesday from 15.00 to 17.00);

Register on the ESSE3 Portal following the instructions available on the Upon Arrival section – how to register: username, password, wi-fi and online services

Register to the local Anagrafe in Potenza or in Matera (for EU students after 3 months of entry in Italy);

Make the Tax Identification Number (Codice fiscale) if you want to open a bank account or to enroll in the National Health Service or to lodge at the Halls of Residence (A.R.D.S.U.) and so on;

Meet the School/Department Coordinator for International Relations;

Change your Learning Agreement through the OLA platform following the instructions outlined in the GUIDE or using the Learning Agreement provided by your university and send us back as ready.

Don’t forget to contact your Home and local Coordinators to know the feasibility of the changes to be proposed;

Attend the Italian Course as organized by the University Language Centre (CLA)

Ask the extension of your mobility period (if applicable - don’t forget to contact your University before all).

Warning: for non-EU students: Apply for the residence permit (if you stay is longer than 3 months) or present the declaration of presence / dichiarazione di presenza to the Police Headquarters / Questura (for period less than 3 months) within 8 days from your entry in Italy; What to do at the end - Before leaving

Inform the International Mobility Office ([email protected]) and the local ESN ([email protected]) that you are about to leave (at least 3 days before departure), specifying the date of your flight and send a screenshot or a copy of your ESSE3 electronic booklet;

Meet the local School/Department Coordinator to complete the table E of your agreement - section "After the Mobility";

Complete the Final Evaluation Survey (Before leaving section) available on Documents;

Check out to the A.R.D.S.U.;

Return the books borrowed from the libraries;

Check-out getting to the International Mobility office to close your mobility period, get your Certificate of attendance and, if already available on the ESSE3 system, your Transcript of Records.

WARNING:

Students are strongly advised not to book their return trip the day after the last exam. Sometimes the dates can change and it is not possible to get the closing documents from the office in such a short time. How to arrive

The University of Basilicata's Francioso Campus, located in via Nazario Sauro 85, 85100 - Potenza, includes the Department of Humanities (DISU), the University Central Library, the Rector's Office, the University Language Centre, as well as the Student Services Centre, and the Disability Advisory Service.

The University of Basilicata's Student Services and Admissions Centre is responsible for the organisational aspects related to undergraduate and graduate students' careers. It provides information concerning admissions, applications, enrolment, as well as administrative procedures.

The academic year starts on 1st October and concludes on 30th September.

The academic activities take place between: 1st October and 30th June and are divided into two semesters: First semester: from 1st October to 31st January; Second semester: from 2nd March to 30th June. Services Since 2010-2011, the University of Basilicata has been implementing an action plan to make the educational offer more available to students with disabilities.

The University has been focusing on the choice of particular services: permanent technical support with equipment dedicated to different needs and located in special areas of the University; a front desk for listening, welcoming and assistance; a teacher responsible for each faculty who promotes and facilitates the way in which teaching and exams are carried out; a student tutor for the assistance, social integration and rights of disabled people, who helps the disabled student to enter the academic life to receive equal opportunities for study and treatment. The Student Ombudsman is the institutional figure to contact and report any forms or types of abuse, dysfunctions, shortfalls, delays, violations of the law or the principles of good administration, failure to respect the values and rules laid down in the University's Code of Ethics or the principles and rights specified in the University Statute, by teachers or other University personnel, or attributable to University Bodies or the general or peripheral Administration in the conduct of administrative activities, for acts or omissions or conduct that is solely intended to be intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive. Students who contact the Ombudsman are entitled to anonymity, in fact, the Student Ombudsman works confidentially, in compliance with the right Student Ombudsman to anonymity of the student and any witnesses, and keeps secret the data and information obtained while performing the assigned functions.

It has the following aims: to listen and welcome the person's needs, (re)discovering resources and quality, to build a shared path to solve a possible problem.

There are libraries on both the Campus of Potenza (in Via Nazario Sauro and in Viale dell'Ateneo Lucano) and a library in the campus of Matera. You can borrow texts for up to 15 days but there are some texts that are only available for consultation and can not be borrowed. The loan is renewable for another 7 days, provided that another student has not requested it! It is also possible to photocopy the material consulted. Libraries

The Language Centre (CLA) provides language training for students of all facilities and degree courses. Students coming to UNIBAS, within European Programmes can benefit from courses held at the beginning of the semester, Courses are structured on different classes depending on the learner’s level (CEFR) aimed at developing general competences and communicative and linguistic skills. Courses last 40 hours and give the opportunity to gain 3 credits. At the end of the course, after the final examination, students receive University Language Centre a certificate.

ICT Centre manages the development of the University's computer and telematic equipment and resources. The Centre is located in the Campus of Potenza (in Viale dell'Ateneo Lucano and in via Nazario Sauro).

University IT Infrastructure and ICT Systems Centre The Centre collaborates with all the structures inside the University and with the A.R.D.S.U. to facilitate the dialogue between the University and internal and external users, as well as to provide them with general information and initiatives about the services offered by the University. The CAOS offers a front office service dedicated to the first information and assistance to students, organizes events to promote University academic offer and services (both inside the University and in the secondary school) and practical internships in productive contexts. Orientation and Careers Service Center

With the support of the Regional Education Authority (Azienda Regionale per il Diritto allo Studio Universitario - A.R.D.S.U.) the University of Basilicata (through the "Application Procedure") offers students coming within an exchange programme the possibility to have a comfortable accommodation in the Halls of Residences.

For detailed information (costs and location of residences) students have to contact by e-mail the A.R.D.S.U., in the person of Antonio Luongo: [email protected]. Accomodation and Student Canteen WARNING: The services is offered only to students spending the Erasmus period in Potenza; there are no student residence in Matera.

The International Mobility office, upon request and with the support of the local ESN, will help the student in finding a private accommodation.

It is possible to use the canteen service (in Potenza and in Matera) by purchasing blocks of vouchers, after enrollment at the University of Basilicata, from A.R.D.S.U. at €2.00 per voucher. In Matera the University of Basilicata has signed agreements with local catering services. For information contact the International Mobility Office or the A.R.D.S.U.

It’s strongly recommended to go first of all to the International Mobility Office to get the useful documents to give to the A.R.D.S.U.

At the CUS (University Sports Centre) in Potenza, you can use the gym and the wide range of sports courses.
