Sustainability Innovation Solutions To Encourage Individuals And Businesses To Consume “Ugly Food" Shuang Hu, Ulink College of Guangzhou Anran Dai, Ulink College of Guangzhou Chulin Deng, Ulink College of Guangzhou Ziye Xiao, Ulink College of Guangzhou Wanying Chen, Ulink College of Guangzhou Summary As our group was trying to find a research topic, a movement caught our eyes. In that movement, irregular looking agricultural products are the protagonists, and volunteers organizing the movement are the directors. They are trying to introduce ugly food to the world. The concept of ugly food interested us, and we decided to work on that for our project. We would like to generate solutions that can promote people to accept ugly food. In researches we did, we found that ugly food actually is a big deal to our world. Ugly food is agricultural products which have irregular appearances. Examples include an uneven spread of the red color of an apple, 90 degrees-bent cucumber, or a carrot with 2 extensions at the end. We find them funny when we see one of them in the market, yet they remained a minority in vegetables and fruits we can buy. We automatically accept that all products should look similar, but they can easily grow differently only because that a rock in the soil is on the way of their extension or they are unevenly exposed to sunshine during their growth. We come towards the question - why can’t we see them in the market? On online surveys and offline field investigations, to begin with, there’s a little approach for the public to know about ugly food.

  • Eurovista Special Issue All Texts
From the Editors This is the first new issue of EuroVista to be freely available online. As anticipated in earlier editorials, from now on whole issues and/or individual articles may be downloaded without charge from the EuroVista website (http://www.euro-vista.org/). This includes those back issues that before only were available on the website behind a paywall. We are grateful to the CEP, that has made this possible. The main reason for this change is to make the journal more easily accessible and therefore, we hope and expect, much more widely read. Do please tell all your friends and colleagues the good news! And what a start we have for this new formula! This issue has been compiled and edited by a member of our Editorial Board, Dr Beth Weaver, University of Strathclyde, Scotland. As she writes in her introduction, we believe this to be the first journal ever to devote an entire issue to contributions made by people who have desisted from offending, some of whom may indeed describe themselves as in a continuing process of desistance. People who have committed crimes have usually been treated as subjects of research and sometimes even as its objects, but their own voice has not often been easy to hear. This issue, by contrast, includes writings by people from a large number of countries who set out a diverse range of accounts of and reflections on their own experiences. About the only thing they all have in common is that they have been convicted of offences and are now or have been on a journey towards ways of living in which offending has no place.

CRÍTICA, Revista Hispanoamericana de Filosofía. Vol. 53, No. 157 (abril 2021): 127–150 DOI: 10.22201/iifs.18704905e.2021.1248 AESTHETICS OF FOOD PORN UKU TOOMING Hokkaido University [email protected] SUMMARY: Enticing food photography which stimulates its viewers’ cravings, often given a dismissive label “food porn,” is one of the most popular contents in contem- porary digital media. In this paper, I argue that the label disguises different ways in which a viewer can engage with it. In particular, food porn enables us to engage in cross-modal gustatory imaginings of a specific kind and an image’s capacity to afford such imaginings can contribute to its artistic merit. Introduction Pleasures of eating are at the center of a plethora of human activities and passions. An obsession with food seems to be on the rise in the early twenty-first century when professional food criticism has been complemented by foodie culture where sufficient enthusiasm seems to be enough to make one an acceptable participant.

The paths in this adventure would often diverge in many ways and I always tried my best to walk the path that was less traveled by. I believe that this has sometimes made all the difference. Along this weary road, I did not have to overcome and succeed the obstacles all by myself. In times of deepest need, it was always a relief to know that I could count on my friends, mentors, supporters, family and casual acquaintances. I have received countless advice and comfort during this adventure and listing all the people I am grateful towards would go beyond the scope of these pages. Yet, I do want to briefly highlight some people for their contributions in arbitrary sequence. First and foremost, my mother - the most important contribution. COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS FOR English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects _____ Appendix B: Text Exemplars and Sample Performance Tasks OREGON COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS FOR English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects Exemplars of Reading Text Complexity, Quality, and Range & Sample Performance Tasks Related to Core Standards Selecting Text Exemplars The following text samples primarily serve to exemplify the level of complexity and quality that the Standards require all students in a given grade band to engage with. Additionally, they are suggestive of the breadth of texts that students should encounter in the text types required by the Standards. The choices should serve as useful guideposts in helping educators select texts of similar complexity, quality, and range for their own classrooms. They expressly do not represent a partial or complete reading list. The process of text selection was guided by the following criteria: Complexity. Appendix A describes in detail a three-part model of measuring text complexity based on qualitative and quantitative indices of inherent text difficulty balanced with educators’ professional judgment in matching readers and texts in light of particular tasks. In selecting texts to serve as exemplars, the work group began by soliciting contributions from teachers, educational leaders, and researchers who have experience working with students in the grades for which the texts have been selected. These contributors were asked to recommend texts that they or their colleagues have used successfully with students in a given grade band. The work group made final selections based in part on whether qualitative and quantitative measures indicated that the recommended texts were of sufficient complexity for the grade band.
