Nytt Album Fra Dirty Projectors – "Lamp Lit Prose" Ute 13. Juli
STREAM FØRSTE SINGEL "BREAK-THRU" HER SE MUSIKKVIDEOEN TIL "BREAK-THRU" HER "Lamp Lit Prose" kommer til verden litt over et år etter at bandet slapp sitt selvtitulerte "Dirty Projectors" i 2017. -

The Bass Player Interviews
Hey Kidz, 20 years ago I started my zine QRD to interview the musicians I loved that weren’t getting asked the questions I wanted to see them answer. Hard to believe I’m still going strong. Four years ago I started a series of interviews with guitar players about their craft & it naturally led to asking some bass players the same basic questions. But bass players are an elusive bunch without big egos & consequently this series didn’t take off in quite the same way. Still there is plenty you can learn from these interviews about the secrets of the often understated connection between the guitar & drums & you can become more informed on the eternal question of, “Is a bass just a guitar lower in pitch?” Hrt Brian John Mitchell QRD Bass Player Interviews CJ Boyd................................................................... 4 Monte Allen of Rollerball & Moodring................ 27 Nicholas Slaton of slicnaton ................................. 39 Trevor Dunn of Fantomas..................................... 50 Jeffrey Roden........................................................ 62 Phillip Palmer of Port City Music......................... 75 Nat Baldwin of Dirty Projectors ........................... 88 Frank Alexander of Triplicity ............................. 102 Brian Preston....................................................... 129 Jason Ajemian..................................................... 141 Darin DePaolo of Unspeakable Forces............... 152 Jill Palumbo of The Torches............................... 162 Jon Case of Irata................................................. -

TRAIL.PUGETSOUND.EDU THE PUGET SOUND TRAIL THE STUDENT NEWSPAPER OF THE UNIVERSITY OF PUGET SOUND Volume 102, Issue 18 April 19, 2013 Established 1910 NO SUSPECTS, MOTIVE UNKNOWN After election ASUPS execs learn from each other By STEPH METHERALL One month aft er the original sur- prise surrounding the split-ticket re- sults of elections for ASUPS President and Vice President, Eric Hopfenbeck and Santiago Rodriguez were sworn into their positions on Tuesday, April 16. Originally campaigning with sepa- rate running mates, (Krista Haapanen and Scott Miller, respectively), Hop- fenbeck and Rodriguez will serve as ASUPS President and Vice President for the 2013-2014 academic year. In the past month, Hopfenbeck and Rodriguez have been working together to plan for the year ahead. An imme- diate hurdle in their duties was merg- ing the ideas of both campaign plat- forms in order to form a cohesive plan for next year. “Santi and I have some big ideas from our respective platforms as well as some we’ve come up with together … we are hoping to use as much of each of our campaigns as possible for our year together because we feel like we almost have an advantage with having two campaign’s worth of ideas to work on to benefi t the student body,” said Hop- fenbeck. One such idea is the master calen- dar, which will compile all campus events into a simple interface for stu- dents. While the results of the election were certainly unexpected, both Hop- fenbeck and Rodriguez look forward to working together. VILLAGERS (IRL) «Darling Arithmetic» (Domino Records, Release: 10.04.2015)
1 VILLAGERS (IRL) «Darling Arithmetic» (Domino Records, Release: 10.04.2015) Conor O’Brien may sport a fetching beard these days but the third album he’s recorded as Villagers finds the Dubliner shaving his music right back to the bone. By comparison, his 2010 debut album «Becoming A Jackal» and especially its 2013 successor «[Awayland]» – both hugely acclaimed and Mercury-nominated, while the latter won Ireland’s equivalent Choice Prize – were more detailed, multi-faceted affairs, so «Darling Arithmetic» is a brave and committed new step forward, eschewing the easier route. O’Brien plays every instrument on these exquisite, melodic songs in a beautifully sparse, spacious, intimate, acoustic-leaning fashion, as well as recording and mixing it himself at home, revealing a single- minded artist at the peak of his already considerable songwriting powers. «[Awayland] in particular, I was experimenting with lots of stuff, which I really enjoyed», O’Brien recalls. «But when I started this album, I wanted to get on one line, with the same feeling from start to finish, that I was emotionally satisfied with. Right before I started writing the songs, I watched De Sica’s film ‘Bicycle Thieves’, which has this one clear vision, so beautifully executed and so simple. I even thought of giving each song its own love adjective, like ‘Unrequited’ or ‘Unconditional’. I’d been a bit disappointed in myself for hiding behind metaphors.» «Darling Arithmetic» was recorded by O’Brien in the loft of a converted farmhouse that he shares in the coastal town of Malahide to the north of Dublin. -
